Our older colonial style home features several smaller rooms, and our kitchen always felt cramped and crowded. We contacted Virginia Kitchens with the idea to knock down the wall separating our kitchen and dining room, opening them up into one larger combined space. This remodel would also affect our sunroom, which adjoins both spaces, so it was not a simple project. They came out to evaluate the space and worked with us collaboratively on the design, taking our ideas and adding in their own suggestions based on their extensive experience. They provided a detailed (itemized) cost estimate and several renderings of the final space for us to approve.

After getting a second opinion, we decided to move forward with Virginia Kitchens and their general contractor partner, and we are so glad we did. The entire team was efficient and professional. They always communicated next steps with us so we always knew what to expect, and what was expected of us to keep things moving.

You can tell that Neil and his team take pride in their work. They pay attention to the smallest details, and they truly care about getting the little things perfect.

Virginia Kitchens uses IKEA products in their designs, so we were able to purchase the materials for the remodel directly and at a cost savings compared to custom built cabinets. We have been very happy with the quality of the cabinets and other IKEA fixtures that we selected for our kitchen, and their team did a fantastic job with the installation.

Ultimately the project was completed on time and on budget, and we’re in love with our new kitchen. In total, on our project Virginia Kitchens and their GC partner handled design, demolition of the existing space, plumbing, electrical, lighting, masonry, tile, hardwood floor installation and refinishing, exterior window infilling, apron sink installation, framing, new door installation, appliance installation, and cabinet/countertop installation. Do yourself a favor and give them a call!

Georgi and his team were easy to reach, answers were knowledgeable and polite, and they went above and beyond to make sure we were completely happy customers. Their contractors (countertop fabricators and tile work) were perfect as well. I was so worried starting a kitchen renovation, and it went great. An example of the customer service level they provided- a small section of my kitchen wall wasn’t covered anymore so the paint color was wrong. Georgi asked if I had any of the paint around, and I said I had no idea because we had tons of paint cans from the previous owner. I said I’d worry about that later. A few days later I noticed it was painted! I asked Georgi if they paint-matched and got paint and fixed it, and he said yes. And they hadn’t even told me they did that- paint wasn’t part of our project! I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

We were fortunate that Neil agreed to take over the project and he saved our kitchen. Their work is flawless. I can’t find a single mistake. They are neat, tidy, and professional. Neil listens to what you want and either delivers your vision or explains why that won’t work. He made several last minute changes for me including customizing my island for me. I 100% recommend them.

I needed to get my back deck replaced since it was rotting & the boards were starting to be unsafe. Coast Customs came out to my property & did an awesome job. The deck was removed & stairs were made, absolutely beautiful. After that work was done, Lisa’s team helped me with my front porch which needed some work as well. The stairs were replaced, the existing deck was treated & painted. I was so relieved that work was completed since the entire back porch needed to be removed. Great work done as well! Even after that 2nd job, I asked Coastal Customs to come back a 3rd time since this paneling around my house was starting to dissolved. Lisa had experts come up & replaced all the dissolved wood and replace it with metal. It puts a nice touch on the house & is why more reliable. Thanks Lisa!

I needed to get my back deck replaced since it was rotting & the boards were starting to be unsafe. Coast Customs came out to my property & did an awesome job. The deck was removed & stairs were made, absolutely beautiful. After that work was done, Lisa’s team helped me with my front porch which needed some work as well. The stairs were replaced, the existing deck was treated & painted. I was so relieved that work was completed since the entire back porch needed to be removed. Great work done as well! Even after that 2nd job, I asked Coastal Customs to come back a 3rd time since this paneling around my house was starting to dissolved. Lisa had experts come up & replaced all the dissolved wood and replace it with metal. It puts a nice touch on the house & is why more reliable. Thanks Lisa!

Not only does he work super hard and have integrity about his work, he is personally very kind, trustworthy and considerate. He was very understanding of our newly adopted reactive dog (excessive barking at times) and that meant the world to us. He communicated with us about every aspect of the job… from the quote, to the selection of materials, the work itself and his daily arrival time. A threshold was overlooked by all of us during the final walk through. He went out of his way with a very congested schedule to put this finishing touch on our flooring the next week. Max is the first person that we have hired that I would re-hire over and over again as we update our house. We can’t recommend him highly enough! Thank you so much Max! Work was done quickly and he scheduled around my 1 week vacation in the middle of the work which was much appreciated. Everything turned out great. Will not hesitate to hire him again.

I had ordered a wooden playset for my son for our backyard – but was leaning towards having a professional do it. Decks, carpentry = playset right? I was so fortunate to have Legacy Handyman agree to take on my job and at an EXCELLENT price. I personally had some scheduling issues regarding other construction and projects being delayed, and he was always responsive, kind and flexible with our schedule. When it came time for the job to be done – he used a professional booking, reminder and invoicing system, which I really appreciate. The playset build was completed in 1 day and was efficient, professional and most of all safe and done right. I will most certainly be reaching out for future jobs.
Jon and Jacob Bailey rated it 4/5: I’ve given Max multiple options to correct the repairs on my shed. He’s agreed to come out, then goes unresponsive and misses dates. We had him do a shed refinish, work was sloppy. See photos of the paint job and edging. He installed a window with a broken pane. Rather than asking everything be corrected, I just asked for the paint to be redone. He said he would come out between Feb 21-25. He didn’t show during the decent weather on the 21 or 22, I messaged him and asked if he would come out on the 25, and I never heard back.
Update: after posting the review, Max did come back to repaint with paint we purchased. The second round of work was completed to a much more satisfactory condition.
