On 10/14/2022 I had Chris Collins come and do a fire door inspection and he was excellent. He went above and beyond what was needed for the inspection by correcting issues he saw my contractor made. He corrected said issues and also let me know a lot of information I needed to be in compliance with the county (Alameda).
I had the corrections fixed with my own maintenance but I called R&S back to make sure we remedied the issues he pointed out.
I specifically requested for Chris to come back out to make sure we fixed the issues and they gladly sent him over with another tech. He came back on 11/3/2022 and he said everything looked good but also gave me some tips to make sure there was no issues.
I want to make sure Chris and his partner Nevada receive this review and get accolades for their work. These are excellent workers and they should receive praise for keeping a high standard of work and also knowledgeable in their craft.

Mark Pringle rated it 5/5: I contacted Precision via their online chat feature to get an estimate to repair my garage door around 9:30am, and about 10-15 minutes later I received a phone call from one of their technicians (Travis) who said he'd be at my home in about 10 minutes, sure enough Travis showed up to assess the damage to my door, he gave me 3 very detailed options, I chose one of them and Travis repaired my door, everything completed in just under 2-1/2 hours. I really appreciated Travis' honesty and professionalism; I had another company there just the day before who only gave me 1 option with a bunch of up charges and told me my door couldn't be fixed… needless to say, I would have never done business with that other company. Precision was great honest and to the point! I wouldn't hesitate to call them again should the need arise.

He greet me with courtesy, inspected my garage door, wrote estimate right away and even gave me a good senior discount.
They were referred by my neighbor so I was expecting the similar rate.
He quickly finished the job earlier than his estimated time, explained the operations and newest technologies in it.
It was a pleasant surprise that it's functions exceed my expectation.

They booked for the next day, and what I thought was an evaluation/estimate visit turned into the full installation! Alex was friendly and informative, completing the installation quickly and even appreciating my very defensive dogs! Excellent experience all around.

I was away from the house when Aces came and they dealt with my wife. Their recommendation was a complete new set of everything….including door, motor etc etc. Cost was going to be $3K to us personally and $1.5K to the warranty company. Wife was hassled so said yes. 90 minutes later she called to cancel and was told she could not cancel as the new garage door was on the truck. It took numerous calls and emails to tel them we were not accepting anything (and the law was on our side). Found another garage door repair company who fixed the bottom brackets and cables for $235!! The door is now working perfectly.
REPEATING THIS…SCAM ARTISTS…..QUOTED $4,500 fOR A $235 REPAIR!!
They are also defrauding the warranty company for work that is just not needed.

Jassi Saini rated it 1/5: I have 1st American as my home warranty company, In May 2022 i made a service call to them replace my one of the broken torsion springs of my garage door and they sent Mike from Ace's Garage Door & Repair Company. 1st American is a good company & Ace's garage door also seems good on customer review but i decided to give this low rating just because of the technician, Mike. I would advise to all customer to be careful if this technician( Mike) anytime arriving to your home to repair your garage door because he is going to tell you that “Your garage door is completely gone, completely broken, having safety hazard and he will even not touch it, “your door need adjustment and alignment which will cost you $250 extra because that is not covered by the Home warranty company” Dear, Ace’s I never need any refund from you but wanted you guys to look into the approach of your technician, Mike.
Whole Story: Only one torsion spring was broken and i was expecting him to replace both because we should not have one old & one new torsion spring as per the other garage experts. Garage door was working fine from last 10 years and alignment was perfectly fine even with one broken torsion spring. Garage was opening and closing fine without any problem, the only issue was, it did not have enough torsion/power to hold it in middle to keep half open or closed if i want to. 1st of all Mike reported to my home warranty company that the broken spring was earlier replaced by someone else, which was a complete lie or incorrect observation because we never repaired our garage door since we bought it in 2013. He was acting like; my door is completely damaged, and he will even not touch it. He stated that door was having a safety hazard & need a complete replacement & he quoted me $2400 for the replacement of my door. Very funny, the door, which was having only one broken torsion spring, was working fine with ok alignment, to my surprise it became junk the very moment Mike showed up. He said he would not even touch my garage door because it was having 3 broken panels , it was again a wrong statement, dear customers, please see the attached pictures of my garage panels which were having only 2 very small (1’’ & 0.5”) negligible cracks at the bottom from years and those were not progressing further, however we can easily replace the each panel if we need to but he recommended to replace the complete door which is not covered by the home warranty company & I have to spend $2400 out of my own pocket. and he would even not touch the door because it is safety hazard. That’s ok if there is any safety hazard, he should have given his recommendation and left without doing anything, but to another surprise, he asked me to pay $250 extra to replace the torsion with adjustment & alignment. When i agreed to pay him $ 250 then his safety hazard was disappeared, and he forgot to the get safety hazard form signed and he replaced the torsion spring within 10 minutes without any adjustment and alignment & made me to pay him $250 for the adjustment & alignment which should come with the replacement of torsion spring. Dear customers, please be aware of Ace’s garage service because if Mike is coming in and replacing any part of your garage door, he will charge you separately for adjusting and aligning it after the replacement. He also recommended roller replacement for $150. Which I replaced (10 Roller) at my own for only $30.
My simple submission through this review is, if you are replacing any broken torsion springs, why you guys do not recommend replacing both, whereas other expert recommend replacing both at the same time because old and new have different torsions. Secondly, the replacement of spring cannot be done without the adjustment and alignment therefore that service should be covered, which your technician refused to do so & charged me $250 extra. This was an awfully bad customer service but very new experience with Ace’s Garage door.

Gil seems honest and upright. But like a number of trades you never expect to have to use, service is more expensive than you'd imagine. Another supposedly Berkeley based garage door company sent a service person who quoted me double what I paid Gil. As ever, it pays to get a few estimates.

I woke up to a broken spring on Thursday and gave them a call. Spoke with the owner who was pleasantly nice on a Thursday evening and confirmed an appointment for the following day to get me out of a bind.
Michael, communicated 45 minutes in advance to let me know he was on his way, and once he got here, he started work immediately and replaced my springs, lubed the rollers and did a once over on the entire garage door system. Pricing was super competitive and well worth getting me out of a bad situation quickly. The great service was just icing on the cake.

He didn’t have the tools or the parts and needed to come back the next day. I canceled them and called Oakland Garage Door Pros. Shawn came on time the next day, was polite, knowledgeable, and an all-around good guy. I highly recommend the company and Shawn in particular.

Sean came to provide us with an estimate. Sean was friendly, professional, very knowledgeable and kind. Ithen spoke to the owner who kindly told me that the color of door that I had chosen would take a week longer, since I needed the door sooner, he gave me other wonderful options and he was able to secure a door for us. The installation team showed up within 6 days of Sean's estimate. Erick and his team member were friendly, helpful in explaining how to use our remotes and app options for our phone. They worked quickly and did a great job. This was a great experience. Thank you to everyone at Garage Door Pros and Smart Gates.

Josh Dion rated it 5/5: Gil was incredibly responsive throughout our entire interaction from initial site visit to completion of install. He responded to my request for a quote in less than 5 minutes, and came to my house to look at my existing door the same day. Due to my work schedule and commute I usually am not available until evenings after 6p which is problematic for many contractors, however Gil accommodated me at 7p without batting an eye. He made thoughtful recommendations about the style, size and brand of garage door to choose. We opted for a very popular contemporary aluminum and glass type. Gil's pricing was substantially better (by thousands) than that of several other very reputable local installers we had contacted for competitive quotes, and in a world where 4 month lead times seem to be the norm, he was able to procure our door in just 3 weeks. As if that wasn't enough to make our decision, Gil also just happens to be a very nice person! He was always kind, patient and respectful across the board. He and his associate just finished our install last night, including some custom carpentry work to nicely frame in our new door. Thus far we're very pleased with the results. I will definitely go back to Gil for any future garage/gate work and highly recommend him to anyone else considering the same.

Prices seemed to be competitive too. Avi was efficient, nice, informative and took care of everything. (btw, don't be nervous about only 13 Google Reviews, they have over 300 on Yelp too.) Job was complete in a short time – and our garage door is working now – and much more quietly than before. Thanks Avi!
