They missed 3 major items when they installed the garage door opener 2 years ago which ended up costing us a lot of money to replace the garage door. As tenants recently moved in we accidentally tried to open the garage door with the manual deadbolt engaged which severely damaged the door practically ripping the bracket off and apparently should not have happened if installed correctly.
As per the installation manual when a garage door has windows, you need to install a vertical reinforcement bar when installing the opener to prevent such possible damage, they did not.
Also, as per the installation manual they needed to disable any manual locking mechanism that is not designed for the particular system, they did not.
Also, apparently if the travel and force limits were setup properly, only 5-10 lbs of force from an obstruction would stop the opener, this did not happen.
After talking with the garage door opener manufacturer and them examining the setup and opener itself, they pointed out all of these installation misses.
I am not sure if it was someone new who did this install or if locksmithing and not garage door opener installs are their specialty, but in our case they did not do a good job. After talking with a couple of garage door companies, it seems they did not follow common install practices. Also, at first they seemed helpful, but after it became clear that the installation they did was flawed, they no longer returned calls or emails.

It only arrived within a month of schedule because I hounded them and threatened to cancel the order, so they had it expedited. Otherwise, they would have just waited for it to be late.
Since then I’ve had them come out three times to fix a $10k door installed less than a year ago. I had to wait five days over Christmas with a wet garage floor, only to be misled all day by dispatch and no one showed up. It was only when I cried that they sent someone, hours after the allotted time. I lost a whole days work. The issue still isn’t fixed. I was given the last persons “direct line” only to be routed to the central line. They were supposed to arrive today, which I booked off, and I’ve just had a call that they don’t have anyone available. I’ve even spoken to a manager that agreed the way the last calls were handled were terrible. No one puts this right, they just continue to say sorry, cancel, and when they do send someone and they show up, they don’t fix the issue. So if you want to spend all your time on the phone, pay a fortune for a faulty door, and loose time at work, then A1 is your company! And the last time I left an honest review, they only proved my point by being defensive instead of trying to repair the relationship. So be sure to also read their replies to this review.

The first company I called never answered, sat on hold 15 min but couldn’t handle the terrible hold commentary as it sounded like blown out speakers so called A1 who was 2nd on my list. They answered after about a 15-20 min hold & was able to get me an appt within 3 days. I had a feeling we’d need to upgrade so was prepared for the sales pitch. Kyle did an amazing job explaining what was wrong & showing me why he suggested the replacements. He offered 3 different choices for each of my products & explained each one in detail, plus had an explanation for all my questions. He was prepared for any service I needed short from having a garage door with him ha!
I was offered multiple choices & discounts & he didn’t try to convince me to get the most expensive product. I went middle of the road based on his suggestions. (He said I didn’t need to spend the extra money on certain products for what my setup was like) I appreciated his honest opinion & am 100% happy with the service & products! Any work that falls outside of standard work be cautious. I reached out with the singular intent to change the track of my current garage door to allow the installation of a tall car lift. They said that with labor by the time I paid for alterations I may as well get a whole new door. That was fine, I 100% agreed. Come the day of installation it turns out that they were not going to be able to do the work that they said. This came to my attention 3/4 of the way through the install. The installation crew tried their best but it just was not going to work.
They get a star back for trying to do something by giving me 16% off…but I still just have a bad taste in my mouth having to pay 83% of a project where none of my goals were met. I would not have initiated this project if I had known the height of my garage track could not have been changed. I would have ordered the smaller lift 4 months sooner and would have been able to pay for that lift with the $5k I didn't spend on a door I didn't truly need…
That all being said, the door is at least nice and so is the garage door opener…

My technician Tim was very knowledgeable, answered my myriad of questions, and gave me the full story without trying to upsell me.
I ended up going with the pricier option to repair my garage, and it's because I knew all of the differences between the options, why I would choose one over the other, and because I didn't have someone trying to sell me something, I was able to make an informed decision.
In my experience, some of the parts that Precision includes in their quotes are more than what they'd cost if I bought them in the open market, but having an expert with years of experience installing them is worth the higher price.

You diagnosed my issue and got me back up and running quickly. After finishing the job, the ProLift technician, did a complete lube and tightened all of the bolts on our door. I have very high standards and expectations for communication, timeliness, and quality. Needless to say, I have been let down on a number of occasions by a myriad of companies, both big and small.
All About Doors was hands-down the best experience I have had with any home-improvement company. From the very first interaction, they went above and beyond in terms of communication, depth and breadth of expertise (both aesthetic and technical), and overall demeanor. I have now worked with most of the team members and each and every person has completely exceeded my lofty expectations, both my own as well as those set by their impeccable online reputation.
Usually we have multiple bids for every project – not this time. We had Brian out to do a quote and we knew that we had found the team we wanted to support with our business, our dollars, and our recommending power. I knew that no one else could even compete and it would be a waste of time to have anyone else come out.

Trevor travelled to Brooks and not only eliminated the squeak but made sure all aspects of the gates worked perfectly. Where this story takes an incredible turn, is the discussion about my garage doors. I am in the middle of having my entire house resided and the soffits improved with tongue & groove cedar. I planned to paint my garage doors to match the house, so as to remove any attention to them. Trevor threw out the idea of having the garage doors match the soffits. The picture shows how the lighting highlights the soffits but the doors do nothing for the house. Trevor is drawing up not only the quote, but some garage doors plans with and without windows and with either vertical or horizontal cedar. Brilliant suggestion of Trevor's and one I plan to run with; adding an element to enhance the house that I never thought could have come from a garage door. They quoted several thousand dollars. Dotan from D Bar Garage Doors had the parts, fixed the problems with the door, including problems we didn't know we had. He charged $350. He has built his small, local business from the ground up through sheer hard work, quality craftmanship, honesty, and word of mouth. He is a local member of the community, a compassionate person, and a devoted family man. He is a true American success story, and deserves all the rewards due to him. We built a detached garage and Dotan helped me through every step and was so very patient and kind through to the very end of our project. Every person that I worked with was prompt, kind and helpful. Phenomenal service and they supply great products. Dotan went so far as to personally call and check with the manufacturer on a couple matters to ensure we knew all of our options (versus just taking things a face value). They are competitively priced, but there service is unmatched. We will be working with DBar Garage for all of our future garage needs as well as recommending all of our family and friends to them. Karen Fong rated it 5/5: The spring on our garage door broke unexpectedly (as springs always do). A friend gave me the name of Edelen. I called, not expecting someone to be available on the same day. But, delightfully, Kevin was available. He arrived in less than 2 hours from my initial phone call. He moved fast, he knew what he was doing, and he was friendly. I have to say that his service and expertise were stellar. Little did I know that garage doors should be maintained and tuned up regularly. I have to say that he went above and beyond for me. Both of our doors are now working very acceptably. Of course, I don't want to spend additional money but if service or doors are needed in the future, I'd be happy to contact them again.

Our son borrowed the van and hit reverse and seriously damaged the garage door. Since this was not our house I needed to get this repaired or replaced quickly.
Wow!, contacted Pacific Overhead Door and a rep came out the next morning, followed up with an estimate and then the tech was there that afternoon and replaced the door. Great service and the price was very competitive. Don't mess with anybody else, these folks are the real deal.

While others I called could only schedule a few days later or in a week, they were able to get a technician out in a few hours. They also asked the right questions and had me take pics and measurements before scheduling an appointments (another company sent over a technician only to tell me he could not accommodate). Kyle not only replaced the spring, he fixed some other issues he found, replaced a guide plate, and lubed all of the joints/wheels at no additional cost. Their price was lower than all of the other quotes that I received. Great service with a friendly smile. I would recommend them to anyone.
