Patrick was very efficient, knowledgeable and a no pressure representative, which is refreshing! The estimate was more affordable compared to the other estimates we obtained. Anytime, I had any questions or needed to communicate anything, Sarah was my go to person and always, quickly responded. Juan's painting crew which consisted of Carlos and couple other fellows , (sorry didn't get your names) they were exceptional, talented, organized, clean, efficient and polite. The paint crew really did everything justice.The painters deserve a raise or a bonus and would be good to train others that are in their line of work. Rae McG rated it 1/5: They are the worst company I’ve ever worked with. They stained our NEWLY BUILT deck the WRONG COLOR and they also stained the side of our house and hot tub dark brown. The stain was applied very unevenly as well (see pics). They are going through the process to remedy it, but it is taking MONTHS. I haven’t been able to use my deck all spring/summer. More frustrating is their complete lack of communication. They do not communicate with you well once they take your deposit. About 80% of my emails and calls have been utterly ignored. I emailed them 2 weeks ago inquiring about an update with the utter destruction to my deck and I was just ignored, no response by anyone. I am beyond disappointed with my experience with this company.

M J rated it 5/5: The entire process from beginning to end was handled well. Brian came to my home for a quote, and he turned it around in 24 hours. The quote was very competitive, and I opted to pay additional for SW Emerald trim paint. The color specialist took a little longer to schedule but once she arrived she brought samples and we made the selections in one day. Due to rain delays the job didn’t start for a few weeks. I did have to call the office periodically to get an ETA on the schedule. The office was very responsive. Once scheduled everything moved quickly. Pressure wash happened the next day. Two days later prep an paint started. The crew of 4-5 were very efficient, thorough and were mindful of my plants. Emilio the project manager was excellent. He kept everything moving and stayed in communication. The basic exterior was painted in one day (sprayed and bankroll of stucco). Trim took another two days. The team did an excellent job, paying attention to detail, and they cleaned up well at completion. No down payment was required, which was great. Unfortunately they do add fees if you pay by credit card. The overall quality of work was top notch. I highly recommend FTP.

However, there is a decent amount of overspray and orange peel in the paint. For the money this place is okay. Just expect to spend more money on getting the car wet sanded and polished if you want all of the defects and orange peel gone. You’ll also have to go over and clean the overspray yourself. I did expect better out of what I got due to me picking the base coat/performance clear coat option. If you want a show car, look elsewhere.

Update: They got bright red paint on my mufflers and suspension. I’m assuming it’s overspray. You know what they do to “fix” it? They take black paint and spray over it instead of cleaning it off. This shop is the opposite of professional. I’ve added some photos for reference.

Dee Jefferson rated it 1/5: I was rear ended and took my vehicle to maaco for a quote. There was damage to the bumper the quarter panel the trunk and the back of the car was pushed in. I spoke to Mango a worker named Brittany and asked what would it cost to fix my car. She gave me a quote of $1,943 and told me that when they pulled the bumper off if there was more damage then they would increase the quote. Well they said that they could fix the car there wasn't any extra damage I once they fix the car it was very unsatisfactory. The bumper still sticks out the lights are not aligned up and after they took $2,000 of my money they said that there is nothing they could do there was more work that needed to be done to get the car fixed. Problem is that was the arrangement we made in the beginning but maaco did not follow through. This is the maaco on main Street in reynoldsburg Ohio they have zero integrity and it's definitely not a good place to go to. I would not suggest this place to my worst enemy terrible terrible service
Dave H rated it 1/5: CAREFUL, You get what you pay for, for sure. These guys painted my Mini Cooper and at first glance it looked good. I was under the understanding that they would be painting the entire exterior of the car. Certainly nobody told me of any exceptions or offered upgraded services. I basically bought the most expensive paint job they sold. When I found that my door wells were not painted I called. They stated that only the exterior was contracted. So then I noticed that they didn’t even do the exterior entirely. Oh and they do not care. I’ve called and left reviews to no avail. Basically they taped the mirrors and painted around them. That paint is now chipping. Beware of these guys.

imperfectidealist rated it 4/5: The selection of paintings is quite lovely and the difficulty level varies. I also appreciated the option to reschedule within 48hrs of the event, especially during this uncertain time.
The instructor was kind and I appreciated how he went around to give feedback and show us what specific colors should look like. I was only a little disappointed since the sample he painted didn't look a ton like what we were supposed to paint, and I felt that we didn't properly get taught the techniques for such a difficult painting (like how to blend the clouds in the sky). I ended up taking my leftover paint home and fixing my painting at home.

It's possible this was because we had limited time due to the curfew, which I understand. The studio did feel safe and I appreciated the barriers between groups. There were around 16-18 of us total, and we were required to wear masks unless eating or drinking.

Overall, I'd recommend this studio. I've been to a few paint bars, and this one was a solid one.

If you're looking for a company that defines "professional" as barely competent, hire College Works Painting. If you're wanting to manage the whole 2-month debacle because the project manager didn't know what she didn't know, the supervisor provided no effective support to the crew despite knowing the issues the entire time, and the communication chain was so broken you (like I did) have to do a significant amount of the job yourself to do it right, then College Works Painting is perfect for you. I also hope you want to be charged extra for their lack of due diligence and to be left with paint drips and splatter on the roof, the deck, the patio, the foundation, and the driveway because that's how College Works Painting goes above and beyond the call of duty.
I feel responsible to warn other homeowners of what they're potentially getting into. Within the context of a normal painting contract, the experience I had could only have been more avoidable had I not hired them in the first place. Shame on me for thinking a paint job couldn’t be messed up this badly.

College Works Painting will likely be quick to dismiss the performance shortfalls on the intern and crew. However, is the responsibility of the company (not the homeowner) to provide the appropriate training to meet their own standard to "provide professional residential house painting services to homeowners." "Professional" apparently means different things to different people. If College Works Painting's performance is any indication to how they define it, "professional" means dripping paint on the roof, patio, and deck. It means over-painting onto adjacent surfaces. It means painting over existing flakes of paint that can easily be pulled off with one's fingers instead of scraping as outlined in the contract. The photos speak for themselves.

If you're reading this as a homeowner, don't let all of their accolades and press coverage distract you, run away from College Works Painting as fast as you can. If you're College Works Painting, look in the mirror and decide if this is really the way you ought to do business.

They fought with the at fault parties insurance to make sure that I had OEM parts on a brand new truck and worked hard to make sure they didn’t have to cut into the body panels for repairs. Chadd kept me informed throughout the entire process and kept me at ease. The repair looks great (can’t believe they were able to color match the Lunar Rock so well). Highly recommend!!

They do all dealing with insurance and support pretty much most of them. My car was fixed properly but was not clean when I got it, probably may be because I keep it more clean. I've had good experience and service with the main Tansky Toyota dealership down the street on Sawmill and figured their bodyshop would have the same attributes under the same ownership.
My rear tailgate spoiler on my 2018 4Runner broke from offroad damage and needed to be replaced. I am mechanically proficient so I decided to do the swap and installation portion of the repair myself. I ordered the new OEM spoiler panel directly from Toyota parts and as expected came in an unfinished/unpainted raw ABS plastic. It needed to be paint matched to the old damaged spoiler in Magnetic Gray Metallic 1G3. Some bodyshops won't do the job since they prefer to make a margin on sourcing the part themselves or require the entire vehicle to be left there to paint match, which I didn't want to do as I still needed my vehicle.
I called Tansky Autobody prior to get an estimate and explain what I wanted to do and Shawn the bodyshop manager was very communicative and thorough with answering my questions. He provided me with a quote on the spot and it was about 25% cheaper than everywhere else I have called, including a reputable local autobody chain. He explained they use the highest quality PPG and OEM spec paints and clear coats and I figured since they primarily work on Toyotas they would have more experience correctly matching a common factory Toyota paint color such as mine. He explained they simply needed just my old damaged spoiler and the new part to accurately match my paint.
I then went in and the waiting area has a large bay of windows looking into the main workshop, which is large. I can visibly see in their paint area on the left a full-sized sealed paint booth with proper mixers, panel hangers and drying racks. A lot of other small shops actually don't do their painting in house and outsource it to some large chain, but here Tansky's all done in house with a specialized paint professional. Shawn then helped me inspect the panels I brought and transferred it over to their paint prep, for a quick and easy walk-in experience.
The paint job was completed in two days after, and on the third day I received a call from Shawn saying it was ready for pickup, allotting a full 24 hours time to dry and cure. I went in the next morning on the fourth day and the new spoiler was visibly ready on the drying rack. Upon first inspection the paint match was spot on and perfectly matched to my old spoiler, and the clear coat was of high quality. The clear coat is what makes or breaks the quality of an automotive paint job, and here there was a noticeable thickness and weight to the clear while still being smooth and evenly applied. Shawn even went as far as providing some packaging wrap to protect the spoiler for when transporting back home. He then priced the invoice out and it was exactly what he quoted me in the preliminary call. A lot of the price savings is from not needing flex additive in the paint as this was a rigid body panel, which other bodyshops have quoted me extra material and labor costs to increase margins. Modern high quality paints do not require additional flex components anymore as the formulation improved to include those adhesion characteristics. Payment was straightforward, I paid completely out of pocket as this was not an insurance claim so I have no remarks on Tansky and their handling of insurance.
I then brought it home and installation was a breeze with the other replacement parts needed and after leaving it to cure for a week longer I was able to wax and wash the panel with no problems. The paint looks exactly like new and blended so well with the rest of the vehicle that it looks like how it was before the damage, even in direct sunlight.
Overall I am very happy with Shawn and his team at Tansky Autobody, with the value, quality job, timeliness and communication, and their ability to handle a special customer request with complete understanding and professionalism. I would come back for any future Toyota repairs!

Andre D rated it 1/5: I rarely leave reviews. However, my recent experience justified leaving one. I have no issue with the quality of work. But this was easily the worst customer service experience I ever have had. I brought my Tacoma in for estimate in July. I was told they would be able to work on it August. I would subsequently call the body shop numerous times over August/September time period leaving messages, inquiring when I could schedule to drop it off. I never received a response. I decide to physically go into the shop. Manager says “let’s get you scheduled for 10/3,” not even referencing why I didn’t receive a call back. I get a call 3 days before saying they do not have all the parts. And will have to reschedule. I call several times to check the status over October/November, leaving several messages. I received no call back. Finally get a hold of manager and was told, “yes we will call you tomorrow to schedule.” Tomorrow and the next day came, I received no call. I reach out to them and finally was able to schedule for drop off. I understand that businesses are facing a lack of employees. Timeframes are elongated, I get that. But under no means, should customer service falter. Pretty simple to respond to customer via phone or email in a timely manner. I suggest not taking your vehicle here and going to Germain Toyota.
