I have used his company for a washing machine repair & an AC tune up in the past couple of years, both of which were great. But yesterday I called him in a panic because our AC suddenly stopped working. He patiently walked me through some steps to see if it was a simple fix, while on the phone with me. Turns out there was an actual repair problem and he got us on the schedule for the very next day. He was responsive, kind, efficient and shows the kind of honest integrity that is so rare nowadays that it’s shocking when you come across it! I appreciate the hard work, knowledge & quick repair time. Fair pricing too. He’s absolutely the top of my list for any appliance repair or AC service in Austin. Great guy!

When my a/c started blowing hot air in 90 degree weather, I called and he was able to stop by in just a couple of hours to fix it. My a/c unit is over 20 years old, and rather than pressuring me to get a new unit, he quickly found the problem with the capacitor and fixed it, so I only ended up paying way less than I would have otherwise. Now my good old unit is working just fine! I also used Paul a couple of years back to fix my dishwasher. Although I understand that he doesn't fix dishwashers any longer, he was able to find the problem and fix it quickly, and he also gave me some additional tips on cleaning and maintenance, which I appreciated. He's a super nice guy, absolutely amazing customer service, and dedicated to his work. I will always call Paul with my appliance repair needs in the future! Highly recommended!!

It took a week just for someone to come out to look at my dryer. Then another week for a part to arrive. Then another week for the tech to come back out. He said the dryer was fixed, but an hour later when we tried it, it still was not getting hot. I called and told them, a lady told me the tech would come back that day. He didn't. I called and was told that there was no one available, that I have to schedule another repair appointment. The earliest appointment was 10 days later!!! No. I already waited 3 weeks and paid over half the cost of a new dryer!!! I am reversing the charges I paid. They did not even offer a refund. I live out in the country and it is 15 minute drive to the nearest laundromat. I've already paid $45 to do laundry!! So now I am going to buy another dryer. But not from Sears.

    Update: They also reported me to a collections agency and now I have to send in proof of payment for poor service and their collection inefficiencies.

During that 2 week wait, I actually called another local appliance repair company, to see if they could get out sooner and check my Kenmore Elite fridge out. That company was able to get out to the house the next day and diagnose the problem. The local company said the parts that needed to be replaced would be covered under the manufacturers warranty. So that is when I made the sears appt. The sears tech was very nice and polite when he arrived. After his own diagnosing, he said that the estimate we got from a local repair company was incorrect, and that it was a different part and not to worry he could fix it. So after $610.00, we were all good to go…..except that a day after he was there, we still had the same problem. So I call back to sears appliance repair today to have the same tech come back out and fix my fridge, and somehow they have no record of me and my appt from 3 days ago?!?! Finally after 4 different people and over an hour on the phone, they finally find my info. The lady on the phone tells me they have a 90 day workmanship guarantee and that I will not be charged for the tech to come back. Sounds great I tell her, when can the tech get back out I ask? ANOTHER 2 WEEKS, before they can get back out to fix the problem they didn't fix 3 days ago!! So, now I'm at a month with no fridge or ice maker!! The quality of products and customer service sears offers now is probably the exact reason they went belly up!! Not sure if you can purchase sears products anywhere these days, but if you can please save yourself the headaches, IT IS JUNK!! WORST FRIDGE AND EXPERIENCE I ever had.

There is a very low character count in the explanation box online so there isn't a way to tell the company what is happening. Further, the telephone number is a call center in the Philippines. Nice people but they don't interact with the repair person either. She said she would "leave a message". The fee model is one where they come to your house and charge a hefty consulting fee. Then they order parts and install on second visit, charging another onsite fee plus parts and labor. I had a very simple part to replace on the door (value $20), with the charges on both visits I could have bought a new machine. Next time it breaks down that's exactly what I am doing since other appliance companies won't repair Kenmore. I have been a Sears customer since the 60's. So sad that greed has killed a good company.

    Their so called service provider plumber gave us and Sears a quote, which they approved. Then later the plumber wanted a lot more money from us to fix it. They wanted to modify our home electrical wiring and connections and Sears wouldn't cover that part of the repair. We weren't paying that much for something that wasn't nessesary. Looked like a scam between them and the plumber. They left us hanging for over a month, just to fix a garbage disposal. I finally just had to replace it myself in about 1/2 hour, otherwise we'd still be waiting. They were great at first a few years ago. We cancelled our service contract. Terrible customer service, we got the run around and pass the buck for weeks. They say someone will call you back but they never do. We should have known, after we had our refrigerator icemaker go out months before and tried to schedule service but was told it would be 6 weeks to get someone out to look at it! Who knows, but just the WORST! Please, if you want a 'usefull' service company, pick anyone else.

  • Chip M rated it 1/5: Don't waste your time with Sears Home Service. Unreliable garbage. There's more detail to it but I'll try to be brief. Scheduled service for stove and fridge. When the guy showed up he informed me he doesn't work on refrigerators and doesn't know why Sears put that on the ticket. Got on website chat with Sears asking if a different tech would be coming out for the fridge, which they assured me yes. Hours later when no tech showed up I chatted again and was told someone would "definitely" call within 1/2 hour. No one did. Later I got robo-called to advise me service was going to happen the next day. Shortly after that I got email stating the service appointment had been cancelled. I chatted again with Sears who tried to blame the tech saying that he should have serviced the fridge. I said EVEN if that is true, that doesn't excuse being told someone would come, then that it was rescheduled, then that it was cancelled.

    Update 12/6/2022 – I did what you asked and contacted that Facebook account via message over the weekend. I figured probably no one is looking at that on a weekend so I waited until about noon Tuesday, well over 24 hours and 1 business day. Still no response.

I did call another company that has the same type of CSR. Sounds like you are using an out of country call service? We would highly recommend stopping being as cheap as possible and at least use a domestic company. Let's not support a company that hates us.

A month after the new stove was installed it stopped working. I called and a technician was supposed to arrive. He canceled an hour beforehand. I then contacted Sears customer service and they hung up on me. Extremely unprofessional-no wonder they are going bankrupt.

They wanted to book the diagnostic visit 2 wks out, said the guy would bring parts, but he arrived on 3/23/22, and would not order the parts unless I paid for the entire repair up front – $360. I really wanted to get my garden in, so I paid and then he said he couldn't return until 4/29/22. Sears sent a carburetor to my house, I called, as advised, to say I had the part and they moved up the appointment to 4/13/22; their window was 8-5, and then they canceled at 5:15, so my entire day was lost. I got a local repairman who fixed the tiller on 4/19 for 1/4 of the Sears price, and he said the new carburetor was unnecessary. The tiller is running great. I'll never use Sears Home Services again. And beware, your first call will go to an American call center for the first appointment, as they use the call to do a sales pitch for Sears Home Warranty; after the initial call, their system recognizes your number and punts you to various call centers in southeast Asia with powerless reps who "understand your concerns" but cannot help you.

    Well, now they say they don’t have the part because it’s discontinued and if I can find it, I can install it myself.

    I’d give no stars if I could. Waste of time and money.

    Update: They also reported me to a collections agency and now I have to send in proof of payment for poor service and their collection inefficiencies.

The repair did not truly fix the problem but at least the dishwasher was operational for three or four months. When it died again I called only to find out the warranty had just expired. Now have an electric oven to be repaired and will replace the dishwasher but would never use ABA again
  • Mad Science rated it 1/5: I had a refrigerator that wasn't working. I called ABA and they sent a technician out. This kid, literally, stood in my kitchen for 10 minutes admiring my house before telling me to buy a new refrigerator. He did not diagnose anything or give me an estimate for repair. I began searching online for a new fridge, and just happened to pull my fridge away from the wall a little after the technician left. My fridge has been working fine for over 2 months since I pulled it away from the wall a little. I called ABA and asked to speak with someone about the level of service they offered. They said someone would call me back but no one ever did. I ultimately protested the charge with my credit card company, and ABA provided a complete lie of a report, saying they called me and talked to me, they diagnosed the refrigerator as having a bad compressor, etc. Nothing they said to the credit card company was true. But they made sure they collected their $140 for the service call. I would never use this company.

From start to finish, about 30 to 40 minutes to replace cartridge for leaky shower faucet. Very impressed by the level of service. We highly recommend Rodney! Thank you Rodney for the A+ service!
