Accurate Chimney did a thorough inspection and provided pictures with their repair quote. It did take some time to get scheduled as they are so good they are totally booked up. But it was well worth the wait! Charles Sr. and Charles Jr. did excellent quality work and took the time to explain to me every repair they made and why. The next rain, there was still a little seeping in the brick and they came right back out the next day to add some sealant to our ledge which fixed this issue as well. We have also used this business for fireplace cleaning. Highly recommend!

Really nice guys that took time to go over what they were doing and what they found. Took pictures and showed them to us to make explanation easier to understand and to show the cracks and damage we have in our chimney. They made recommendations and even helped walk us through how to do a few simple things ourselves since we are on a tight budget. We are an all-electric home/neighborhood and worry about losing power in the winter and freezing to death. Charlie gave us some good and affordable options to make our fireplace safe and efficient. We really appreciated the time they gave us and they were so nice. Very laid back and just seemed like they were happy to help and happy to be there.
Another thing I was really thankful they did was bring a large drop cloth and actually used it! Had a good vacuum with a good filter and when they were done, we couldn't even tell they were there. They didn't leave a mess at all.
I was very pleased with this company and would definitely recommend them.

All of a sudden I needed a plumber urgently. Dan was able to come out that same day. After a quick trip to the store for supplies, he did the jobs very quickly and efficiently. When we had them clean ours, they inspected it with a camera and to our surprise, discovered that we had experienced a chimney fire that fractured the clay liner. The technician pointed out that it would likely be covered by home insurance. And it was! I would never have thought of that.
We retained Blackburns to install the required liner. They were surgically clean, quiet, pleasant and worked diligently on the project. The finished product was perfect!

Zach Fisher rated it 5/5: Recently had Blackburn Chimney Services (primary technician Ralph) come out to inspect all five of our chimneys and fireplaces in our 130+ year-old home. This was our first experience with getting a chimney serviced, but we spent the better part of a day researching different companies in our area, and settled on Blackburns and two other local competitors (one was actually referred to us by a friend as well). Needless to say, Blackburns was the first to get back to us, and we are absolutely glad that they were. The inspection went perfectly. Ralph pointed out a few issues that needed addressed, and also gave an idea of what those costs would be, we were never pressured or told this "HAD TO BE DONE", Ralph simply told us that if we wanted to use the fire place for the intended purpose, you should definitely get X done before then. The follow-up was fantastic, and the emailed inspection was very very detailed, along with all the recommendations that Ralph mentioned. Also, during the walk-through, Ralph took his time explaining everything to me (I had ZERO knowledge of anything related to our chimney's or fireplaces) and he even walked me through the installation of gas fire logs as an option.
Would 1000% recommend Blackburns to anyone I know who is in need of a reliable and reputable company for their fireplace, chimney (or even other services that they offer)!

Clyde and Tiffany were timely, professional and always went above and beyond. They even brought bird feathers from their farm for my son who showed an interest in their birds. I paid $249.00 for what? I called and sent email about the job and pictures as I was instructed to do. I was told that I would receive a call back within 24 hours, that didn't happen. I have left messages for a call back, that hasn't happened either. Now, they don't answer the phone. I have used this company in the past without issue, but never again I had to call and pay for another company to get the job done correctly.

I think it was simply someone not hood at taking calls because they were out the next day since weather wasnt great for larger jobs. Came in cheaper too. Mde perfect sense why they ret charging you an appt timeframe just to get something so simple done and it allowed them to be fast and cheapest. An old way of doing business but it works.
We will be relining and conveying the chimney back to wood burning eventually and will call them when we do.

Dominique Combs rated it 5/5: We Simply needed a chmney recapped. It was odd not to have an appt but rather we get to these as we can. We had to kinda prod to get a time frame. I think it was simply someone not hood at taking calls because they were out the next day since weather wasnt great for larger jobs. Came in cheaper too. Mde perfect sense why they ret charging you an appt timeframe just to get something so simple done and it allowed them to be fast and cheapest. An old way of doing business but it works.
We will be relining and conveying the chimney back to wood burning eventually and will call them when we do.

So I was concerned, but no worries here. He also made some recommendations on how to keep it working right. I’m very impressed and I highly recommend Whempy’s!! Most felt like they were trying to up sell us. We went with Whempys because we felt like they were the most genuine and a fair price. After we scheduled, they were great with communication. Even though we didn't need to be there they called us a few days before they planned to come out and called before they came to start the repairs. Well going on 8 months later we are still water free in our fireplace and very happy with the work done. 11/10
3BK LLC rated it 1/5: Called and scheduled an appointment 1 month prior, and was given a 4-hour time window. The technician, JAMES, called and said he was on his way and would arrive 1.5 hours BEFORE the scheduled time window. Discussed that access to the home would be available ONLY during the SCHEDULED 4-hour time window. He indicated that he finished his other appointments early and that we were next on the list. He arrived at the house over an hour early and would not honor the 4-hour appointment window time. He left without performing any service or evaluation. Called the office contemporaneously and spoke with the "manager", who offered no resolution, other than to say "you're located further north than we usually travel and the tech is headed south for the rest of the appointments." We immediately canceled the appointment due to the unprofessional service we received from the manager and the technician, James. Would NOT recommend this company.

Therefore, I scheduled with Kicking Ash. They were booked about 4 weeks out. I was told the appointment time was 12:30 and the price, including tax, would be $208.95. Upon arrival at 2:30, the tech told me the price for a wood stove, verses a fireplace, would be $289.95. He implied I did not ask for the right thing. When I objected, I was told there were new people in the office, he has nothing to do with it, etc., etc. He took no responsibility. He was very unprofessional.

I have owned this property for over 30 years and have had the stove/chimney cleaned many times. I know what to ask for. This was not my mistake. I will not use this company again nor will I recommend this company.

When I contacted Kicking Ash they were able to come out and do a full inspection. We found out that the home we purchase had basically never had any fireplace maintenance done before and our fireplace was actually quite dangerous to use. We worked with Kicking Ash not only to have exterior work done to correct a lean, install new flashing and waterproof the chimney, but to completely repair the inside and install a lovely new insert that will heat our whole downstairs. The teams were prompt, professional, easy to work with, and always upfront about everything. They even worked with me to create a custom backing plate for my very rare arched fireplace so that it didn't damage the aesthetic appeal of it. It was a lot of extra work on their part but they worked with me till I was happy. Now we have a wonderful fireplace that is safe to burn, will save us money in the winter on electricity, but is beautiful as well. We have already tested it out several times and have been so pleased with it. I can't thank Kicking Ash enough for their wonderful services, I would recommend them to anyone I know for masonry/fireplace work.

They came out, tested for leaks, cleaned it, and determined the issue was related to airflow/pressure and instructed me on how to fix it. They were both super nice and knowledgeable, and did a great job explaining things in layman's terms. They also did an excellent job cleaning out the fireplace and the glass surround.

Dennis was willing to come out & see if it was something he could do & lo and behold he finished putting it together in 35-40 mins! Now we have a fully functional gas fireplace.
