She did the run down of how everything was going to work and explained how the things she recommended be replaced work, all while reminding us that every decision was up to us and she would do whatever we thought was necessary. She even worked late in the evening making sure our system was working at its best to keep our family comfortable. On top of all that she gave us tips to avoid possible damage down the road. And she loved our animals! I look forward the our next scheduled maintenance and having Angela back again. Also the deals they get when you join the club member is fantastic. Highly recommended for fast, honest, and reasonably priced work. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Sam Rein rated it 1/5: Let me start off by saying that our service tech and sales tech were both awesome. Professional, very nice and wore shoe protectors the entire time they were in the house. We specifically payed more money because both techs were top notch in every way.
The installers were a different story. They were very nice and got straight to work at 11am. It wasn't until they left at 9pm that we started to notice some issues. My stairs were extremely dirty. Not a big deal and difficult to avoid considering it was wet outside, but they put cloth down below the ladder, why not the stairs? I had to shampoo all of them, but I brushed that off as not a big deal and moved on. That leads me to the next issue I had. They mentioned taking the storm door off. I'm flexible and so is my wife so when they told her she didn't see a big deal. They left without reinstalling the storm door. Come to find out after calling my repairman to get it reattached it is broken and we need a new one. I paid a TON of money to use a reputable company that I have had good experiences with in the past. I feel betrayed.

I am not looking forward to what the city inspector has to say at this rate.

Gregory Keefer rated it 1/5: AC/Heat Pump Installation on September 15th. Came home to half the vents not blowing and attic stairs not reinstalled correctly. Duct was reinstalled with damper control inside. Carpet on stairs was dirty from their shoes. Called immediately and guy came out on Friday 17th. Tech came to look at stair damage, fix damper and oh yeah, bolt down outside unit because the first guy failed to do it. Tech said yeah they’ll need to redo your stairs. 24 September called customer service, because my original salesman wasn’t returning my messages or calls, and was told they would have a dispatcher call me. 28 September talked to Jamal in customer service, I think, regarding stairs still not replaced. 3 October still no action so I messaged American Mechanical via their website. 4 October received message from American mechanical and sent text back, as requested to say Thursday was best day to have repaired. Fixed on the 7th. Fast forward to January, heat is working but unbalanced: hot upstairs freezing downstairs. Went in attic and found several feet of duct work left behind. Techs came out to inspect airflow and said all duct work (that came with house) had to be redone and turned my case over to sales. Within 30 minutes salesman was calling me I assume to give a sales pitch because I guess when you are replacing an entire unit they don’t inspect how the duct work flows. This is the absolute worst experience I’ve had for the amount of money I’ve spent. Highly recommend researching one of their competitors. Pictures show the gap they left in reinstalling stairs and the damage the stairs caused to a bedroom door trim when they dropped the stairs.

Richelle Eggers rated it 5/5: It all started with a clogged drain line…. I called another company, they came out 4 days later to clear the drain. Luckily this was when we had some cooler temps. I was told the 15 year old unit looked great and we had plenty of time left on it. The next time we ran the unit buckets of water was coming from our back up drain, the drain pan was full of water, and we noticed water spots on our ceiling under the unit in the attic. I called the company that serviced it on a Sunday and they said they couldn’t come until Tuesday, that was not ok with me.
I contacted Guy Smith Heating and Cooling via their website on that Sunday afternoon, hoping for an appointment Monday morning. Katelyn called me within the hour to get more info. She explained that the situation was not good and she said “I think I can help you”, those were the words I needed to hear in that moment. She gathered some info, put me on a brief hold, and came back to say “my tech will be there in 25 minutes.” Amazing customer service on her part! She put me at ease even with a full blown leaking unit and a 4 year old begging for my attention during the call.

Kevin arrives, asks a few questions, explains everything and starts to blow out the drain line (you know the one that was already cleared). This time he didn’t stop until he got it cleared, he was adamant that it wasn’t cleared. He tried again and sure enough a ton of rust came blowing back up the drain pipe all over the unit.

After further inspection and showing us pictures, he noted that the unit was rusting apart. Fixing it would only delay the inevitable replacement. So we started the quote process right there at my kitchen table. He outlined all the options for replacement, explained payment options, scheduling, maintenance, etc. There wasn’t a question I had that he didn’t answer. We ended up purchasing a new unit to replace the one that the other company said was “doing fine.”

The install guys arrived on Friday morning as scheduled. They were professional, clean, personable, prompt, informative, helpful, and every other positive descriptor you could use. They even covered our floors and steps with a canvas type fabric to ensure the amount of dirt tracked through the house was minimal. They were here all day but had little impact on my ability to continue to work from home.

I HIGHLY recommend Guy Smith Heating and Cooling for ANY HVAC need you should have!

He took his time assessing our entire system but was quick to provide a solution. We had heat in 15-20 minutes on a very cold day. I called 6 different HVAC companies and Kellam were the only business that were able to send out someone immediately. The technician Justin L was extremely knowledgeable and respectful and answered all of our questions. Justin knew exactly what the problem was an was able to get our heat back on the same day. He had to come back the next day to install the last part we needed and to double check our existing wiring. He explained to us that the issue could have burned our home down because of the disconnect box some how caught on fire. I’m grateful for Kellam, Justin, and there great customer service. I will be using them for any of my HVAC needs going forward.

Mark took the time to sit down with me and thoroughly explained all of my options as well as gave me some recommendations and basically how the whole system operated . Believe me I appreciated that . Mark was very thorough he took measurements and when he left I had my estimate and a pending proposal. Few days later I agreed to use Climate makers to do the new install. A few days after that Charlie came out to take the measurements a second time To make sure everything will go precisely as planned. Charlie was very thorough as well , and he also explained everything very thoroughly and I appreciated that. Two of the nicest gentlemen you would want to interact with. I knew that I had chosen the right contractors to install my new HVAC system . On the morning of the scheduled install three technicians showed up James , Dillon, and Taylor . All three had smiles on their faces and exhibited very positive attitudes and I appreciated that. They wasted no time in immediately went right to work they kept me informed and the whole install was completed in about four hours all three of these technicians were very personable and friendly And they did an amazing job including cleanup . Charlie showed up to inspect the job with another senior tech named Tony . And Tony was just as friendly and knowledgeable as Mark, Charlie ,Dylan ,Taylor , and James . Tony explained the testing of the new system and the new thermostat education . I have never received such a great experience in my entire life. Gary Gappy was the tech that visited us last time. We thought we were smelling gas from our heating furnace and after doing a very thorough inspection he advised that we were just smelling some gas released from the old valve upon ignition. While he was out here he also conducted our winter maintenance which was due. All of this was just before Christmas and with very short notice. Thank you Gary and Climatemakers for giving us peace of mind!

My rental agency took care of getting a good company out and then they called me and I set up a time to meet the contractor. Jason was very professional and looked at what needed to be done. He took lots of photos. He made an estimate and sent it over to my rental agency. Hope to hear back from them soon before I move in so the work will all be done. Seems like good work will be done too. That makes me happy.

I had to outsource and called A-1 American as I knew they could. They came out on Friday before the holiday and was back out on Tuesday for install. Kevin and James came out to find out what the issue was and checked everything. Marcus and James were back on Tuesday for install. They stayed until they knew it was working. It was 92 in the house and thanks to this company and the teams, we now have AC. I also have to give a shout out to Meg for her working with us to get the team out sooner rather than later. Thank you A-1 American!! You rock!!

He is super friendly, stayed in contact with me, answered ALL of my questions without hesitation and with honesty. Quoted me the price and that is what I paid! Jake and his assistant arrived on time, worked through horrendous heat in my attic, and got my new ac installed like clockwork! My home is cooling down as we speak and we are loving it! Jake explained how to register for the warranty for the products I as well, and that process was easy too! As much as I've seen the A-1 American commercials, I can say they are truly a company of their WORD and I will DEFINITELY use them for future home improvements or repairs!!! Very, very happy customer right here!
Page Bagley rated it 5/5: On a Saturday morning, in the hottest of July days, the AC went out in my elderly mother's home (she cannot climb stairs due to a stroke). After calling three repair companies, one of whom installed the system and told me, "since there was a unit working upstairs, it was not considered an emergency and to call back on Monday for a regular service call," and the other two never bothered to return my call, I called A-1 American. The lady listened to me and told me she would submit my repair to a technician who would contact me. Within minutes, I receive a text which gave me the name, Jake, who was the technician assigned to my work order. Jake called and came during the time period he said, he evaluated the unit, and diagnosed the problem. While he did not have the specialty part needed to repair the unit same day, he helped me with strategies to stay cool until he could get a price quote and respond by a specific time on Monday. He kept his word by calling on Monday with a quote and time to install the part. I was impressed and grateful that not only did he set an appointment, Jake made the repair a day earlier than planned.
Before submitting a review, I waited to make sure the unit was fixed. The AC is working better than it did before I made a call. Thank you, Jake, for your professionalism and for being a man of your word.
Dwight Meekins rated it 5/5: Jack Blackburn is the most knowledgeable and professional serviceman I’ve seem in over 20 yrs. He did a super repair on my old compressor – troubleshooting and replacing several fused wires. But my 15 year old system was on life support. After getting bids on replacement units from two others, even thought A-1 wasn’t the cheapest – I had the most confidence in Jake to do it right the first time. He was 10 mins early of his stated arrival time and completed the replacement of the compressor and coil professionally with everything cleaned up prior to his departure.

She followed up because there was a cancellation, allowing us to be seen the same day-all after a terrible 5-day ordeal with another company. She was professional and the repair technician was actually able to arrive earlier than scheduled for both the diagnosis (the same day we called) and for the repair (first thing the very next morning). He dand his team were professional, efficient, quiet and knowledgeable. We are so grateful to now be at 74 degrees instead of 93 degrees.

They just finished installing a new heat pump and air handler unit in my house that is going to replace 18 year old equipment. They performed quality work at a more than reasonable price. Brand names are pretty much the same, what makes the difference is the installation. I have them booked to come back and install a second heat pump for my downstairs .
