Craig Landes rated it 1/5: We've used Michael & Sons before, and assumed they would be perfect to replace an old mechanical thermostat in a single-stage system, with a non-programmable digital Emerson. We bought the thermostat and had it already, and only wanted help with some confusing wiring. We figured the $90 "diagnostic" charge, then maybe $50. It would be nice if the "diagnostic" charge was part of the final charges, but no. That's separate. Okay, but at least it makes business sense.

When the "diagnostic" was completed, the estimate to do the installation was $288.75. Then there was North Carolina tax of $27.39. So including the "diagnostic" charge and tax they wanted $405.14. Are You Kidding Me?!!

This was the last time we'll ever call Michael & Sons. It's sad that the corporate leaders are now so greedy for money they no longer have any interest in customers. The technician was really excellent (they all are!), and was as shocked as we were at the computer-generated estimate. He checked with the office, and was told that's the price.

Good-bye Michael & Son. Alas; for we knew you when you were a decent company.

  • H Smith rated it 5/5: Brandon, licensed electrician, was beyond awesome!!!! if you have Services done you should definitely ask for him. He was very knowledgeable and provided excellent services. He was patient, respectful to my home, and gave several options for install. I thought that the companies prices would not be competitive but I was absolutely wrong. The prices are competitive. He installed 4 customer provided wired smoke alarms and replaced a GIF receptical in the kitchen. He was efficient and completed the job in a timely manner. Thanks Brandon. Michaels & Sons has a superior đź‘Ź electrician.
  • Marissa Schmid rated it 5/5: Our experience with Daegan was nothing short of great! From the minute he entered our home he was very friendly and respectful. We had him come in to add a few boxes for various light fixtures around the house, and one light he moved over for us within the room. He took his time, and he kept me involved in the decision making process which I really appreciated! Even after staying longer than I’m sure he planned, he ended up installing one of the light fixtures for us because we didn’t have the right tools. He did a fantastic job, and we will surely have him back in the future!
  • Zachary Williams rated it 5/5: I had a couple of loose light fixtures and one in a very difficult to reach area. Daegan came out to diagnose the issue and came back the next week to complete the work. He was extremely quick with the repairs and even noticed we had a loose doorknob and unprompted just fixed it real quick. My wife and were impressed with his level of service and professional and helping us find the most cost efficient options as well. I'll definitely be using them for future needs!
  • Brad theDad rated it 5/5: Great service and support. Called and spoke to a very nice individual. Received a text notifying me of the appointment confirmation for later that day. Their tech called and let me know he could come earlier and wanted to know if we could accommodate. I said that we could and a few minutes later received another text with a picture of the employee, Pete, that was coming, along with some of their hobbies. Very cool. When Pete arrived, he was very courteous, respectful, knowledgeable and willing to help and answer all our questions. Pete recommended a few options, we chose the best one for our needs and Pete got to to work removing our old water heater and installing a new one. From the time I called to the time Pete finished was approximately 4 hours. Their price was comparable with other plumbing companies and Pete’s expertise and attitude put them on top, even though they were $100-$200 more than the other company. Very satisfied with our decision to use Michael and Sons.

Janice McSweeney rated it 5/5: Free estimate (other places charged over $100 to send someone out for diagnostics) and quick (I called on Friday, they came on Monday), but expensive (over $4000 for a water heater replacement).

The install was done by different guy than the estimate. He did mostly fine, although I had to help him get the old water heater drained. A third guy game to inspect the installer's work. He had to send the installer back out to correct caulking around the vent duct, and even that still sucked – he used red caulk on the exterior of our light gray house, so now I'm going to have to cover that with white or gray just so it doesn't look awful.

In the name of "bringing our house up to code" they also charged us $500 to install a water pressure reduction valve, so now it takes longer to fill the coffee pot, the shower isn't as invigorating as it used to be, and watering the lawn takes longer.

Ultimately, we now have nice clean hot water, so it's all good.

I also had the pleasure of working with Colin Felton the general manager at the Raleigh location. He's a very congenial person person and aims to please. I was very happy with the results since they replied promptly and took of the repair ASAP. Thank you Ray and Colin for a good experience.

  • Timothy Bunn rated it 3/5: I Initially contacted the company to arrange plumbing repairs on 01/13/23 and made an appointment for 01/15/23. I was contacted shortly after and the appointment was changed to 01/16/23. No one came and no one called.
I contacted the company the morning of 01/17/23 and Mr. Travis Gibson came about lunch time. He apologized for the oversight and performed an inspection to identify the problem and actions needed to correct it. He was courteous, professional and informative. He said he would draw up a proposal showing work to be done and a cost estimate and would email it to me.
A week went by and I didn’t hear anything. I contacted the company again on 01/23/23. It was discovered that my email address was incorrect. The correction was made and I was told the information would be sent soon. It was not.
I called again on 01/30/23 and expressed my disappointment. I was told the plumbing supervisor would contact me in 20 minutes. She did not. Mr Gibson contacted me later in the day and we talked about the problems. He got everything done. He sent the proposal and got approval for the job and took care of everything else. He is the only reason I didn’t call someone else to do the job. Mr. Gibson came on 02/08/23 and worked for several hours to complete the job. As before, he was courteous, professional and informative. He was neat and took extra precautions to avoid making a mess in the home and he cleaned prior to leaving. If I do business with this company again it will be because of Mr. Gibson. He was the only one that seemed to care and the only one that acted on my behalf.
  • T Dozier rated it 1/5: I had these guys take the contract a while back when I was soliciting for a reputable company. Me being a first time home owner I was clueless regarding either having repairs done on my water heater or having it entirely replaced. I may have been taken for a ride because I was recommended on having it replaced completely. They came and installed the unit but it was poorly installed. I would’ve done the review but never received the email from the office. You may need to invest in step ladders for your crew because they used a plastic chair I had sitting in my garage and nearly broke it. I am not using these guys again.
  • Lori Greco rated it 1/5: Where do I begin. If I could give them less than 1 star I would.. my heater went out Thursday 10/20. Scheduled a service call between 2-5. Came home from work waited all evening no show no call.received a text stating someone in dispatch wouldn’t call, never received a call. I called the customer service center several times that night( it was a cold night) was told someone would call but they never did. At 9pm that night rescheduled for the following day for a service call between 10-2. Took off from work again. No show no call. Again did receive a text confirming my appointment and was told someone would call me but they never did. Received a text Saturday morning 10/22 at 10 am starting someone was on the way. I was at work at the time and my husband was not home . Called my husband so he had to change his plans and head back to the house to meet the tech. Was told we needed a gas valve replacement and someone would call us to make sure we wanted the work done before they would order the part. Surprise! no call. Called corporate customer care was told our business was very important. Give him 48 hours to call the branch and he would get back to us. Guess what? No call. We left a message on his machines Tuesday 10/25 and still no call . Today is Saturday 10/29 and still no call. We do not know if the parts been ordered. Throughout this ordeal was have called and spoke to several people who assure us they will look into thing and get back with us. I understand that they are probably under staffed but someone could s as least call and let us know what going on. At this point I would like to call somebody else to do the job but we purchased a unit for them and it’s still under warranty. It’s less than two years old. We paid $170 for the original service call and do not want to call another company to order this part and pay for another service call. We are very patient people But this is beyond ridiculous. This is very unprofessional for a corporation this large.

Kim Taylor rated it 4/5: Quick response and good diagnostics price seems very high. $450 to get rid of a clog where we already knew where it was, quoted $5500 to have a pipe 15ft pipe replaced. Think the guys that came out were wonderful and efficient but do not like the price and would not recommend to someone if they asked for a plumber

Most relevant reviews:

  • Nicholas Kelley (Nakblue) rated it 5/5: Austin with Roto Rooter did an amazing job replacing my leaking water heater and his professionalism and customer service was truly exemplary to say the least. Austin did not only do the installation but was insightful and willing to educate me on the issues that needed to be address, as well as patiently explain to me how the overall system operated so that I was better prepped for my own preventative maintenance. I got way more than a new water heater but knowledge about what makes it tick.

In addition to his openness to educate he was overall genuinely easy going and a joy to talk with. He made the whole experience which normally would be aggravating and overwhelming more personable and engaging. I could not speak highly enough to my friends and family about the experience and the superb service that Austin provided. I hope to avoid any future plumbing issues in the future but without a doubt I know who to call when it occurs.

  • martin harris rated it 5/5: Mr. Wayne was very professional and diagnosed the issue quickly. He was able to resolve the plumbing issues. We are a repeat customer and Mr. Wayne has provided services all three times. Thank you so much job very well done.
  • Qarol Price rated it 4/5: Adam arrived more than two hours earlier than promised. Our toilet would not stop running so the sooner we stopped flushing money down the toilet the better. Appreciated that, but was a little stunned by the quote of $600 labor for work that was completed in under 30 minutes. I was immediately given a 50% “discount” which was designed, I’m sure, to make the $300 dollar charge seem low. Still, I was thankful that they were available on a Saturday only hours after I called and Adam cheerfully delivered exactly what we needed.

  • Sara Annichiarico rated it 2/5: I have to leave a mixed review for Roto- Rooter. We had a supply line water leak on our toilet that caused extensive water damage. A plumber came out on Labor Day weekend within a few hours and wanted $300 to replace the water supply line ($7 part and 10 minutes labor). Plumber was friendly, but that was a pretty high dollar amount for that repair.

The water mitigation team that came was also friendly. There were some last minute changes in times for them to show up and appeared to be lots of staffing issues. They removed wet flooring and removed our toilet and sink in the bathroom. All in all everything went well until it came time for us to put our toilet back. The tech had put the toilet in our garage and covered with a black trash bag. We didn’t think anything of it, but apparently the toilet tank lid must have broke or something during the process and instead of telling us, they appeared to cover it up and left me scrambling more than a month later to try to find a new tank lid.

I would not recommend them as plumbers due to their high pricing, and I would not recommend them for mitigation after finding out they either broke or took a piece of my toilet and didn’t tell me. I understand that things break, especially during demo but not telling me was the issue.

  • Stephen rated it 5/5: First time I've used Streamline was yesterday for an urgent hot water heater replacement at a rental property. I called around 8am and they had Tom out before noon. Tom was outstanding. Extremely friendly, genuine and likeable guy who obviously knew his stuff. They were respectful of my time allowing me to go about my day while the work took place. So I spent maybe a total of 30 minutes on site for the entire day. Would certainly recommend Streamline!
  • Christine Fox rated it 5/5: We've been using Streamline for a few months and have been very happy with their service. Josh was very helpful in explaining the challenges with our current system and arranging to have John come out (same day) to discuss options and provide a quote to replace. Within 48 hours, Tyler and Cole arrived to install our new system. They were on time, diligent and responsive to questions. We appreciate their overall service. Thank you!
  • Lee Acosta rated it 5/5: We were having trouble with our kitchen under the cabinet lighting, we contacted Streamline for service, they sent Ron Jaime, electrician technician, he arrived within time we were told, Streamline's communication keeping us posted on his arrival was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, professional and was very thorough. We decided to get all new lighting fixtures in Kitchen and Laundry Room, switching to LED lighting. We just finished the job yesterday, we are so happy with these LED fixtures, also very happy we'll never have to replace bulbs again! I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend them. Many thanks for a smooth transaction from start to finish, so happy that we converted to LED lighting!
  • Kenny Langley rated it 5/5: After a phone call, a technician was at our home in two days and communication was excellent. Cameron was great – professional, kind, and explained everything he was doing along the way. Did a great job checking two light fixtures and installing a smart light/cam over the driveway. Cleaned up everything afterward, too! Price was higher than expected, but isn’t everything these days? Overall, I recommend.

Progressive Service Company is a top-rated home improvement company in Raleigh, NC, known for providing high-quality services and customer satisfaction. Reviewers say that the company is professional, reliable, and does great work. They also appreciate the company's transparency, communication, and flexibility.

Traylor Bame rated it 5/5: I had 2 new Lennar hvac units installed by going through Costco services. Progressive was chosen to do the install and from the minute I was contacted my John…I knew I had the “right guy” for the job. He was knowledgeable, honest, and just down right a good guy. Without a doubt the best experience working from the initial request to final product delivery. The installers were careful to be tidy when moving around the house and then took the time to explain all the details of my new system and setting up my NEST systems.

Most relevant reviews:

  • Chris Russo rated it 5/5: Progressive Plumbing was perfect! I reached out to 4 other companies for an emergency repair and they were the only company that could/would send someone out the same day. Our plumber Justin was wonderful. He responded fast and fixed everything in a timely manner and at a good cost. I will definitely use them again and I will also recommend them. (And Justin)
  • Carl DeCesare rated it 5/5: Marcus with progressive was fantastic. I had a large leak underneath the concrete slab in my home. He was very professional, took the time to detail all the possible outcomes for me, complete the very extensive repair in one day, and thoroughly photo documented the entire process. It was an intense situation and progressive made it better and did an incredible job. I definitely recommend them and will use them again.
  • Boris Zelmanovich rated it 5/5: Progressive did an entire HVAC installation in my home. They replaced both AC units and Furnaces as well as all the control boards and thermostats. If there is one thing to know about an HVAC installation is that the installer is more important than the brand of the HVAC system. I can say that this is the reason I chose Progressive. The installation quote was from Costco thru Progressive. John Woodell is an outstanding project manager. He is a matter of fact type of guy that does what he says. He understood our needs and worked to provide us with the best value HVAC system for our house. He gladly worked several quotations for us. He was always available to answer questions and follow up on any commitments he made. John’s professionalism is why I chose Progressive.

An HVAC system replacement for my size of house is complex. William Harp was the installation manager on this project, and he is outstanding. He is knowledgeable and ensured that the crew worked thru some installation complexities we encountered. William is a consummate professional and you want a guy like him to manage the installation. Again, the installer is as (if not more) important than the system itself. William and John are why I would recommend Progressive for HVAC installations.

  • Angela Holloway rated it 4/5: Technician was here to do the seasonal tune up for the HVAC System. He was very pleasant and professional with a strong sales pitch for a Maintenance Agreement and various parts he determined were needed with an estimated cost of approximately $3,500 to 4 grand. I'm not convinced that I need so much considering I get the seasonal tune up every year with another company, first time using Progressive. Further the system is approximately 7 or 8 years old and should not need such extensive repairs and if so should be covered under the warranty. I did purchase the Maintenance Agreement so I will use them again, not sure about in the future.

Mike Hogan rated it 5/5: Efficient, professional and timely. They just repaired an expansion tank for my water heater – simply a pleasure to work with these guys.

  • John Fields rated it 5/5: William Parrish replaced all of our plumbing under the house due to acidic water. He also installed a water treatment system and a new bladder tank. Would recommend his company anytime. Great service, took care of a couple of minor issues quickly and always kept us informed of all the work and appointments. Price also was the best for the work done. Very personable and knowledgeable.
  • Ben DeMarco rated it 5/5: We had a hot water heater leak that required and emergency fix and WP plumbing was excellent. They were responsive and sent someone out same day! Scott quickly diagnosed the problem and walked through the repair with me before getting the work done efficiently. I was a first time customer but would definitely use them again!

  • Eric Hart rated it 5/5: Austin came out to replace our hot water heater. While the installation cost was higher than I expected, it was on par with similar quotes I received from others.
Austin did a superior job installing the new heater, cleaning up the connections and cleaning up after the work was complete.
Very responsive business, very professional with a strong work ethic.
    Would recommend.
  • Jim Roof rated it 2/5: Tech was clearly very competent and the job (Installing four new valves waterline valves and reinstalling two spigot/faucet sets) was done well. No complaints there. However, he was at our home for less than three hours and did not even have to deal with access as sinks were not installed. The bill we received was over $1100.00. We were stunned. What plumber makes over $350/hour? Bottom-line is that we feel we did not get a reasonable deal and will not use this Company again.

  • Nicole Ponticorvo rated it 5/5: The Matthews Plumbing team was very courteous, professional and kind. I was very impressed with the owner Matthew’s responsiveness over email and willingness to go the extra mile to help me feel comfortable with this project. Tyrie and Norman did a great job removing and installing my gas water heater.
  • Mike Riccitiello rated it 5/5: I hired Matthew's Plumbing Solutions to complete a rough-in plumbing installation for a bathroom addition to the rear of our home. It required a completely new drain line to be installed from the rear of the home to a clean-out at the front (75 ft. run). Matthew's was extremely easy to work with from the initial contact through the completion of the work. The office staff communicated everything in a timely manner, the on-site crew was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with, and Matt the owner stopped by to make sure things were going well. On top of that, their price was very competitive. All around it was a great project, and I would highly recommend them.
  • Christie Sullivan rated it 5/5: I am so glad I’ve found Matthew’s Plumbing. Matthew and his crew replace the piping in our house in 2018 and now I use them regularly for water heater maintenance and any other repairs. They are responsive and able to fit me in quickly. They are also knowledgeable and affordable. Highly recommend!
  • Jack M rated it 1/5: Big mistake. Zero stars. Charged me $455 to run a snake, find the blockage and then NOT clear it. Tech didn't even try to cut through with the snake. They wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $800 more on top of the $455 to come back and jet the line the next day. They were already talking about needing to dig it all up ($$$). When I complained, they offered to give me a partial refund only if I would commit to even more services from them. No. I called a different experienced company who came the next day and cleared the line in short order without issues. Avoid.

  • Mike Santowasso rated it 5/5: Our gas water heater died a quiet death late Thursday evening. With a holiday weekend and a major winter storm approaching we figured we were in for a long weekend of cold showers.

Only a few water heaters will fit with the venting system in our old house, so I had googled the model of our current heater to identify models of heater I knew would fit. CK’s plumbing was identified as a dealer for that brand of heater (State) and Angi’s list showed very good reviews for the company. (I had also called our usual plumber, but they were booked for the day, not surprisingly.)

I called CK’s just after 8 am Friday morning. The woman I spoke with was very knowledgeable about the particular dimensions of the heater we needed and was able to confirm the model I had identified should indeed work with our venting. She then told me they had just had a cancellation, would get the specific heater ready to go at their warehouse, and said a plumber would be at the house by 10:30. She also proved a quote on the installed price.

I was then called by Ray, the plumber who would come to the house, and we spent a few minutes discussing the details of the heater, how the current heater was installed, and he asked I text him a few pictures of our current set up.

To shorten a long story a bit, Ray and Chris arrived at our house at 10:30 and we had a new gas water heater installed and running by 11:30. Both Ray & Chris were very professional and provided a very good rundown of the work they had done, the equipment installed, and tips on maintenance. The price quoted was the price charged.

In the end, we must be living right to have a new water heater installed before lunch the same day we called, but regardless CK’s Plumbing did a great job for us.

  • Susan Sloan rated it 5/5: Chris and Ray from CK’s were early coming to my house. I am already going to have a hot water heater put in by them. They came out to fix a running toilet and look at a water leak in my front yard. They were very polite and friendly. Told me the alternatives in fixing the problem. They will arrange to do all the work on one day and are giving me a discount on my hot water heater replacement.
Can’t wait to get everything done.
The office staff is also so nice to talk to and are very helpful

  • Stanley Q. rated it 5/5: Ray and Chris were a pleasure to work with. Very professional, efficient, communicative and friendly. Best value I could find. Very efficient installation. No impact on the premises except for new water heaters. They were extremely tolerant of my repeated questions, delivered to them while they were taking a lunch break — after they had performed the service requested. I highly recommend CK's Plumbing and will definitely call them again for any future plumbing need.
  • Nathan Lee rated it 5/5: I've engaged CK's plumbing for several projects and have been pleased time over time (repairing gas leak, repipping water filtration system, new toilets, etc). Their work is top notch and their pricing is fair (more fair and honest than their larger competitors).
The technician we've had each time was Nick. Nick is excellent. Super easy to engage with, honest, willing to talk through questions and walk through the work he's done. He's an example of top tier professionalism in the plumbing trade and is the reason I will continue to come back to CK's for all our plumbing needs.
I highly recommend CK's plumbing, and would specifically request Nick if he's available.

They were courteous, and the quality of work was excellent. When they were finished they cleaned up after themselves. My experience was positive and I recommend this company.
  • Ronald Wyatt rated it 5/5: James, was the name of the technician who did both the estimate and installation of the water heater. He took the time to look at the old water heater and was able to get it working so we would have hot water for the few days before he came back to do the water heater replacement. He was professional, polite, and very knowledgeable. I had 3 other plumbing companies look at the old water heater they had 3 different diagnoses none were sure what the problem was. James took one look at it and knew that the manufacturer was no longer making water heaters. He even knew where I had bought it. In short he provided exceptional customer service. Offered me choices to fix the problem. I would recommend this company to anyone. Thanks James (Bell Cow)
  • debra small rated it 5/5: Wonderful wonderful job, I was truly satisfied with my technician, very kind man. I didn’t have any heat in my home and my technician refused to leave until the heat was on, it really touched my heart, how caring he was. I will recommend this company to anyone.
  • Erin McConnell _ Staff – ApexFriendshipES rated it 1/5: Purchased a new construction Meritage home with Bell Cow installed HVAC and ductwork. The house is now 4 years old and the ductwork is rusting a considerable amount. I contacted Bell Cow and they said that there is only a 1 year labor warranty and no warranty on materials. I would not recommend hiring Bell Cow as the materials they use they do not guarantee will last.
