B L rated it 3/5: We had a water leak in the front yard between meter and house. The first appointment for repair was called for on Friday and the technician was at the work site on Monday at 9 as planned. He began to dig where the water was standing in the yard and once he reached the pipe he recommended we call American leak detection, to see where they think the leak was coming out. The issue I have with it, is the leak was about 2 feet into the flower bed that we told the technician to feel free to dig into to. This would have saved us a weeks worth of waiting on the next appointment available for the leak detection company to be able to come out and the $375 bill for them to find the leak that was just 2 feet from where the technician was digging initially. In addition the technician gave us bad advice that the leak detection company was $450 but that he could get the price down to $375. The leak detection company said Hiller tech could not say that much less honor that for another company. He should not tell this to customers going forward. In addition to the excessive amount of water loss to the extra week of water leaking the follow issues were also added to the stress of waiting the week for repair. Customer was only 3 weeks from knee replacement surgery and the tech stated the leak could be in the slab of the house so the rooms between initially dig spot and house water cut off had to be cleared in case they had to jack hammer into the slab in order to fix the problem. The customers also have asthma issues and the stress of needing to move furniture and possible concrete dust from Jack hammering was very stressful. We had to cancel family gathering from out of town due to water issue to the house and have to move furniture out of the room for possible slab work. All I’m saying is all this could been avoided if the tech would have dug a couple feet more feet toward the porch. The tech was a good worker, respectable and informative. There was no issue with him professionally or personally but all techs should do all they can on the front end to find the problem to satisfy the customer experience.

    In my case, our shower stopped working. I called on a Saturday around 10 am and I was set up with an appointment that day. William came and diagnosed the issue. He got the right parts and installed it.

    I got very clear estimates on how much it would cost and what was wrong. It was all clearly explained by William.

    Our previous plumber had retired so we just didn’t have anyone. I am so thankful that we do no now!

I tried Liquid Plumber type solution, with no luck. Husband undid pipes under sink in U-drain, and “snaked” it with 3 different tool lengths. Nothing. Called Greenway (as they had done an outdoor plumbing fix for us a few months ago). Nothing available til “tomorrow afternoon”, but took it. Called back a few hours later with an AM cancellation, and took that. Office staff very polite & actually understands the “urgency” of such issues. Cheapest Service charge out there, and both reasonable/fair in pricing, and prompt/courteous in services. Did not leave a mess behind. Even ran D/W to be sure it didn’t back up in sink after his “big gun” machine finally cleared a monstrous clog. Very grateful for Greenway- highly recommend!!

But the sales guy quoted me over 15k for a duel system replacement and “threw” in a new thermostat, pad, plasma unit, a new surge protector. I don’t need all of that. Just the system. When asked about paying cash what would my price be, he continued to push financing and didn’t answer my question. So the technician Zach was good and professional but we ended up going with another company because that price is extremely over what other places quoted me at 8500.

Called Roto Rooter and they had someone at my house right after the first call. They took care of the clean up, their plumber came out same day and installed a new water heater. He told me that since I had a pipe clean out, he would not have to dig it up. Then after he said he cleaned it, he told me if I still had a clog I would have to buy a snake to get rid of the clog!! If he dug it up and cleaned it properly like he supposed to for the money that I paid then I wouldn’t still be having problems!! It would’ve been completely cleaned out!! then I went and bought a snake for $36 and got rid of a clog but I’m still having problems with it backing up in the system!! i’m filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I want a refund!!!!

    Not fake, my service was for my commercial space on Madison. I dont want my actual personal information on google. But this sort of attitude towards customers is why I m glad I didn't keep trying to deal with Russel at Choates. He uses lies when cornered on doing a sub par job.

I’m upset as this was suppose to be a new unit. I learned the way they seem to play the game is to blame the customer so all charges and fees falls on customer. So I called a repairman from a different company to handle the issue. Then here we are in November 2022 and we’ve been 2 weeks living in the cold. I called choates again to address this once more. We agreed to have a service visit this past Saturday Nov 19. Issues with payments or extra weekend charges were NOT discussed at that time. Dispatcher or tech called early in morning way before scheduled time. They were planning on sending a technician before the agreed time and I told them I couldn’t do earlier. So now we had to wait. I had called to get an ETA and James the dispatcher called me at 2 PM saying it would be another 45 mins to an hour. That was okay. Then came 4 oclock when the tech finally came (2 hours after James’ call). The technician said he was told not to service us till we made some payment that I was told would be covered back in January under warranty. And to add to it, there would be extra weekend charges for this visit. None of this was discussed with me before the appointment. Or earlier with dispatcher. After trying to reach an understanding with James, he instead got very rude and obnoxious over the phone and just said he would cancel service and tell tech to leave. I asked for the number to reach supervisor but was told he’d call me the following Monday. I haven’t heard from anyone over this awful mess. Hoping I’ll get an email. Choates seems to work in their favor and does not care for their customers no matter how much their customers spend on their units. Of course they will say it’s the customers fault and ready to charge you left and right. My guess is they didn’t sell me a new or good unit. Customer service is terrible. James the dispatcher was very rude and obnoxious. The unit they sold me wasn’t cheap either, especially for me being a recently widowed woman and single mom. Gonna try calling Conway or some other competitor in hopes of at least better service!

Roto-Rooter and Kelly Gibson did troubleshooting and discovered there was a blockage under the patio at the back of the house. Used a backhoe to carefully uncover the problem which was an issue with a clean out that had never had a lid installed. The clean out was 3 feet under the ground and had tree roots growing in it. A quick cleaning and then run the camera both ways to make sure everything was clean and the work was done in an hour and a half excellent excellent excellent I can’t say enough about Kelly and his help. Installed a proper clean out pipe when finished. Wonderful. Highly recommend Kelly Gibson and His crew.

Recently moved to new house, with babies, pets, and new to septic systems… so I didn't know what to do. After calling down the list of septic companies that didn't seem to care, luckily I reached ABC where Jennifer actually talked to me about my situation. They were just as booked up as the other companies, but Jason took the time after his other jobs to come help us see what was going on! We would have still been without water and toilets for days. They were professional, very knowledgeable, and so nice. I will always use them in the future, and refer them. Wonderful people, great company!

It was ordered may 21st and was scheduled to be delivered on the 25th. Never showed up, no one contacted me. I had to email back and forth with people that didn't know what was going on or could give me any information or contact the delivery department either. They put in a second order which also never showed up Thursday and I had to contact again. They said it would be here that Monday and again never showed up. I contacted every time about it not coming and they said it would be here soon, then ended up lost again. It was supposed to arrive over a MONTH ago and they still can't figure it out. I don't know how they're in business please don't put yourself through dealing with this company.

  • Chuck Souder rated it 5/5: In this day and age it is sometimes a rare event when one does not deal with a business across the counter in person, i.e.; via the Internet/telephone, and encounters people who obviously love their job, pay attention to detail and do everything possible to ‘get it right’.

    When ordering a 300 gal septic tank and two 4” gaskets on-line, I could not determine if “1” in the order count box was for one gasket, or for one set of two gaskets as reflected in the accompanying picture. So I called the number shown on NTO’s website.

    After dialing, about 7:45 CDT, I noticed business hours began at 9:00 am PDT – but the phone was immediately answered. Pleasant surprise #1!

    The lady answering the phone put me on a brief hold, checked on my question, and said ‘1’ order meant one set of two gaskets.

    The order arrived in only two days. Pleasant Surprise #2!

    However, there were four gaskets in the box. Adverse surprise #1.

    By this time NTO, Jackie, had sent a shipping information email, to which I replied detailing the four instead of two gaskets quandary. Jackie responded in less than an hour with a UPS return shipping label (Pleasant surprise #3), plus followed up with a second email asking me to confirm the label receipt along with Return Item terms. Pleasant surprise #4. I shipped the two extra gaskets back to NTO the same day.

    Other ‘instant reply’ email conversations with Jackie concisely and plainly clarified the customer pick up process and the predicted timeline when the tank would be ready to pick up at St Boniface, MN. Pleasant surprise #5.

    NTO should be proud of its Customer Service policies and procedures, and in particular, be proud of Jackie – due to her attention to detail, timely actions and pleasant personal interaction.

They need to hold there manufacturing team accountable my order was almost two weeks late.

I contacted the company with pictures and explained that the tanks were damaged. The company informed me that the damages were my fault because my builder was not there to receive the tanks. In addition, they have refused to accept responsibility for the damage cause to their product by their driver and their delivery. As you look through the reviews, you are going to see this is a common issue. Be aware that their management is not concerned about customer service or repeat business. I left a two star review because the tanks are the tanks that I ordered and they are at my property.

    They sent the right tank but with the wrong hardware. We contacted them many times to resolve it but they simply insisted that they sent the right hardware. We had to hire a plumber to get the right items. He looked at what they sent and said that there is no way any of it would have worked and that you would never use a copper fitting for this material even if it had fit, ( which it did not). Whoever is running things has no idea what they are doing.
    We had to keep contacting them in order for them to get back with us. VERY POOR customer service. We felt like we were dealing with a third world country.

    Also the lid of the tank arrived wrapped to the side of the tank fully bent and had to spend time putting it in the sun and then wrenching it back into shape so that it could screwed on. Also the hardware was simply thrown into the bottom of the tank sitting in a pool of water.

    I wrote this incident on the onvoice and contacted the office about replacing the baffle, I was told that they would not and that it is not needed.
    I contact several septic tank and field line companies with questions about the what a bafles does and if dislodged should it be replaced. All said yes. it keeps the solids from entering the field lines.
    Very disappointaed they are refusing to repairtheir damage.
