But appointment was 45 minutes late. Bay Area traffic in the morning is not good so I understand but then should have called with an update. Problem was diagnosed quickly and required a large machine to be brought into the house. Shocked that no floor protector was offered for our brand new flooring but luckily we had moving blankets and old towels that could be used. Very expensive repair but I imagine emergency plumbing jobs usually are.

UPDATE – one week later, exact same issue. I called them to ask what they could do and they actually said THEY DO NOT GUARANTEE THEIR WORK!!! Having to call another company to deal with this and will have to move out of the house until work is done.

All 3 technicians did major clean up with a smile on and good humor. Awesome watching them work.

Joaquin went and bought the parts, a new pump and pvc piping . He got the job done with excellence! He finished around 6 pm, so a long day of working.

I could not live another day without toilets and sinks (with sewage backing up into my shower), so I called Mr. Rooter. Within 40 minutes, Alex was at my house. He was professional, thorough and conscientious. I could not believe how careful he was with everything in our home. It was like a night and day difference from the previous plumbing company. Alex took the time to explain in detail what was wrong, every step he was completing, and stayed for hours when the proposed solution didn’t immediately work. Whereas the other plumber clearly wanted to get home in time for dinner, Alex understood our situation and made sure to stay until the problem was solved. Yes, the cost was much higher than the other plumber quoted (in total, about $800). But I shudder to think the corners the other plumber would have cut, considering how unprofessional they were and how little they seemed to care. Alex’s hard work and kind demeanor made the high price tag sting a bit less. He is a gem!

How many towels can you quickly lay hands on to make a dam? That's what we were doing this morning. Despite having 24 hour service, by the time we were done mopping up we decided to go to sleep. We called Mr. Rooter at 7am, left a message with their answering service, got a swift call back and got scheduled for arrival between 10 am & noon. Mr. Rooter showed up on time (well before noon!) and the plumber was polite, clean — he had shoe coverings! — and well able to cope with our toilet. We can flush again! Their technician gave us some good advice about our toilet and a drippy sink faucet. Everything was clean when he left. The fee was market rate, and while I hate wasting money, I am only too happy to have our only bathroom back up and running! (Did I mention there are 4 of us and only 1 bathroom?) Mr. Rooter was prompt, competent, clean, pleasant and fair priced. We have a new go-to plumber. Thank you Mr. Rooter — but I hope we don't meet under these circumstances again anytime soon.

First, Spencer, the owner of this franchise, responded within hours to my backed up sewer lateral. He informed me that Albany City fixes this for free. He personally knew the City person responsible and he called on my behalf to order the repair. The City workers arrived the next day and fixed the problem for free! On another occasion, our garbage disposal failed. I got Spencer on the phone and he suggested an appropriate brand and model to replace it. I also asked for a new kitchen faucet, and he immediately recommended a faucet that we have loved. The plumber who arrived to replace our garbage disposal and faucet, named Alex, could not have been better. He was punctual, thoughtful, well informed, friendly and fast. He was thoroughly professional, and the work he did was excellent. I will definitely be calling Mr. Rooter of Oakland for my future plumbing needs.

It was a tricky project requiring rerouting under the home, etc., but Pipe Spy did such a great job that I vowed to call them if I ever needed sewer work.

Well, that time came so I called PipeSpy. Heiko, himself, with Jordan, came to the house, did the camera evaluation, provided an estimate within a few hours, and scheduled the work a few days later. The crew, led by Gabe, was right on time, efficient, courteous, and friendly. Gabe patiently explained what they were doing and answered my questions as they went along. The project was completed in about 6 hours and they left the worksite CLEANER than it was prior to the onset; they did a SUPERB job! I've dealt with other sewer companies, having been a resident/manager of a 10-unit condo some years ago, and in my experience Pipe Spy is absolutely the very best!

They do pipes. They do them well. They are respectful of landscaping. They kept us informed when, as sometimes happens, ancient plumbing installations presented an interesting plumbing puzzle.
They do NOT do general plumbing – and have been clear about that.
They are not the cheapest (several years ago we put a bid out for bid on a rental unit – so this may be dated information – I was impressed then with Sammy’s clarity of the terms and boundaries of the job he was willing to do. Notice, that for the current job, we did not bother to put it out to bid – we have been consistently satisfied customers.
As I write this, I am realizing- they did work more than once for us – all on different properties- all with disintegrated ancient plumbing pipes connecting to city sewers, all with satisfactory outcomes.

This company has done minor plumbing repairs and major repairs from copper or pex pinholes to installing replacement valves and upgrading water heaters. There is definitely a reason I have kept using this company for about three years.

He was very clear on the price over the phone and no surprises. Also the cheapest rate, some couldn't even give us a price. He was very professional and respectful. In frustration I turned to Yelp. Gladiator was extremely responsive (came out same day) and fixed the problem quickly. Very professional.
Ronald Falcon rated it 2/5: This company ran some copper piping and installed vent pipes through my roof for my remodel back in August. They did a good job and in a timely manner. However 4 days ago I noticed a leak in my kitchen ceiling. When I go to the attic I see that it is leaking from the vent pipe they installed through my roof. When I get to the roof I see that they never sealed the holes that they made in my roof. I patched the holes myself in about 15 minutes. The water that seeped through ruined my newly painted ceiling in my kitchen. I’ve been calling them since Saturday and looks like they are giving me the runaround. Nobody seems to be able to pick up the phone and call me back to take care of this issue. First they said they’d call me on Monday, but didn’t. So I called them and they then said they’d call on Tuesday (today), but still no call. Now I’m being told that the manager might be sick all week. Stay tuned…
It’s now Wednesday night and though they said they were going to have a painting company reach out to me, I haven’t heard anything. If this isn’t taken care of soon I’ll do it myself and their rating will be reduced to 1 star.

I should have posted this sooner but Gladiator fixed the damage within a week. They had a very nice and hardworking painter come in and fix everything and it looks good as new!!

The diesel fumes fill her bedroom. He's not servicing any unit. He's not working. He just sits idling, disturbing and polluting a quiet neighborhood. My mother called about this last week, and twice again today.

Olivia Lacayo rated it 1/5: The company I work for has two units from United Site services, almost right next to each other. One is a holding tank that is always serviced on time every week. The other is a portable that I have called for 3 times already because it somehow gets skipped. As an HR manager, it is unsanitary for our employees to use the portable especially when it is filled almost to the top. We request to have service done weekly, and here we are again, toilet completely full and no service. Their service team is extremely helpful over the phone and always help me out in getting a truck to service the unit right away. The problem seems to be the actual drivers. Beyond frustrated and I can't believe we have to pay for a service that doesn't even happen on time or ever.

But no one did. Don't waste your time with this wanna be business. Ridiculous.

They told it was going to be ready for a specific they but no one showed up. On Thursday they told me it was going to be done on Friday and yet they didn’t show up. Once again I called Yesterday and they told me it was going to be done today Tuesday at a 2:30 pm it’s 4:00 and no one showed up! If I could give 0 stars I would. They charged me the fee but never went to clean up the portable toilet. What a waste of time!
