I called Sweepnman to do an inspection of both and see what it would take to get the main fireplace in operational condition. Mark came out to do a full inspection and cleaning, he was on time, professional and very clean, he laid down mats on the floor and vacuumed the area when he was done. He did a thorough job and presented me with detailed photos and reports, as well as needed repairs to get the fireplaces in working order. I decided to go with Sweepnman to get the main fireplace in working order. I needed both interior and exterior work. Inside, I needed parging, outside I needed a damper replacement, repointing, water sealing, and a flashing repair. Jimmy and his partner came relatively quickly after I decided to proceed with the needed repairs. Like Mark, he was prompt, on time, explained what needed to be done and very clean. We had to wait on the weather to do the exterior, but the main office kept me well informed of schedules. I am happy with the work done by the entire team and would recommend them. As an added bonus, they work with a bank if you choose to finance your work, which I did. That process was entirely online and automated and could not have been easier!

Richie responded to our call very quickly, came out for a quote the next day and was able to schedule work the day after. It turned out that there's nothing wrong with our chimney and he made sure that it worked properly and did not charge us the full amount only for his time. He is very reasonable and followed up the next day to make sure everything is still okay

Joe and his crew were in every way a pleasure to work with, and the quality of the work was excellent. The initial visit included a thorough inspection, fully documented with photographs including from inside the chimney. They were happy to explain technical details and were very helpful in comparing alternatives for doing the work. The work itself was performed on schedule and carefully. The house and grounds were well protected and all debris was carefully removed.

He was professional, respectful, and pleasure to talk with. A few months later his son Ben came to clean the oil burner flue. Ben was also lovely, respectful, professional. Both men were incredibly efficient and neat in their work. Even before they came to my home, the communications from the NE Chimney office were clear, prompt, friendly, helpful. This company was recommended to me by neighbors who have used their services for many many years. I would highly recommend them, and am grateful I met them.

Honestly, they blew me off. We decided to replace the fireplace door & call it a day.
We are aware & sympathetic to material shortages & uneven staffing. In this case Best was disorganized & unprofessional.

It was a 16 inches too high with crumbling mortal and leaning precariously. In two days the job was done, cleaned up, great assistants, quiet, respectful, prompt. Not cheap but I never want cheap, I want good and reasonable. I never chose the highest or lowest price, no guarantee either will be good. How we were treated made the difference. I had one company that I had worked with before and very well known. they would come from Canton for $250.00 to assess the job and if hired would NOT apply the consultation/assessment towards the job?! Lost their #. It is worth the peace of mind and few extra dollars with professional and nice people to do the work. Will have them back for the back chimney, pointing and flashing repair and other services. Very satisfied. Thank you, Lynne and Scott Anderson

They came to my home and told me I needed to do thousands of dollars in upgrades immediately. I got a second opinion and was told Best Chimney Services was trying to upsell me. The second opinion cleaned my chimney for a few hundred dollars instead of the several thousand dollars Best Chimney was trying to charge me.

Lots of companies claim talent and experience and offer a fair price. Sometimes a worker over delivers for what their estimate included. All these criteria were met by Downeast Chimney. I was lucky that as a company Downeast is fair priced and experienced and thoughtful how they might help my situation. However why I am writing this recommendation is to applaud the human interaction I enjoyed with Louis and his 2 sons Jacob and Ross. Whenever possible I look for people I can trust, people who keep their word, people who are respectful and honest like family or close friends. I was recommended to Downeast from someone who has worked in the chimney business. My chimney situation was complicated. This year, however, my positive feeling about this company was cemented further when I reached out to them by phone to ask for an opinion about a chimney concern that was coming from our condo neighbor’s chimney, but was impacting the air quality in my unit. Louis graciously listened to my tale and offered thoughtful ( and, it turns out—correct) advice. At the end of our conversation, he then offered to come and look at the problem if his suggestion did not work. His advice was both freely given and invaluable. Estimates from other companies where significantly higher. Overall I would highly recommend using Above and Beyond for all your chimney needs.

The day of our cleaning, he was prompt, clean, and very thorough in his cleaning and subsequent explanation to me (someone who knows nothing about fireplaces and chimneys!). He carefully explained the damper replacement options and never made me feel there was a hard sell in choosing either option. He also helped me locate a piece of the wood stove that has fallen in the chimney. I highly endorse his professionalism and competence. Also, it was very easy to deal with the front office with regard to scheduling.
