I was texted with the estimated time of arrival which I really appreciate.
An discovery was made after the inspection of the chimney that there were rotted boards beneath the Chimney area etc that needed attention. This newfound issue was explained that additional cost would occur.

Blake was so helpful starting the process for us, promptly answering questions and being available to speak to our insurance. On-site, Dustin and his crew were exceptional. Everyone was professional and so kind, including the administrative staff on the project. They communicated every step of the way and sent progress pictures from start to finish. And they kept the inside and outside tidy during the project and cleaned up after. I live in a condo so my project affected neighbors as well, and Bone Dry took special care of that. They came and tented the fireplace, tore down the old mantel and brick surround, and prepped for the stacked stone. Sheldon was the skilled worker on this project and he was meticulous. Chandler was an able assistant. The hearth is a slab of Indiana limestone and installing it took skill and experience. I could not be more happy with the results. We were selling our home and needed to have work done on the chimney for the new owners. In attempting to find a company to do this work, I called multiple companies and Brick + Ember was THE ONLY one to call back. After speaking with Lauren who understood the tight timeline I was on, she had me scheduled and Kevin Tackett was there to inspect/quote the job. Kevin was pleasant, called ahead as promised and very engaging. He took time to explain the scope of work and that I had no questions. The next morning I received a follow up call from Bonnie to make sure we didn't have any other questions or concerns….who does that….Brick + Ember does that.

The team that was on site, was very pro-active in scheduling, calling they were on the way, and incredibly polite and highly skilled. Brick + Ember was even able to transition between us and the new owner for the final day of work.

Mark Carter rated it 5/5: We hired Brick+Ember to convert our wood burning fireplace into a gas log, vent free fireplace. Our sales rep, Brent, was fantastic during the initial consultation. During the consultation he walked us through all of our options and set very clear expectations on what they could do for us. I never felt pushed to move forward with the project, and his communication was timely and professional.
When it came time to install our fireplace, which was earlier than expected and a big plus for us, the installation team was on time and professional as well. It took about 4 hours to complete the job and they kept us posted throughout the work on how it was going.

All in all, I have and will continue to recommend Brick+Ember to friends and family!
Josh Roseboom rated it 3/5: The Sales men, staff and even the installation crew were very easy to work with. The finished product was good as well. I deducted a couple starts for a couple reasons. The communication prior to production was lacking to say the least. there was no follow up prior to production letting us know what to expect. Material was dropped off a week early as they had the install date wrong. This material was also placed on a tarp on my grass on an 85 + degree day. I had to call and have them come back and pick up the material before it killed my grass. The day of production they set up on my grass that left large areas of dead grass and hardened mortar. They did not inform us that the repairs would/could cause massive amount of brick dust to enter my home through my chimney. When I arrived home after work it looked like someone had been sanding drywall and every surface was covered in my home and was still hanging in the air. Not only did it take my wife and I hours to clean it also burned our lungs a bit. This could have easily been avoided if we would have known it could happen.

Brian Guy rated it 5/5: I've used Smalling Masonry for my 80 year-old house now for a few years. They are the best. Professional and the work has been excellent. They refurbished my brick front steps and patched brick work on the front of the house (after remodel) and were able to find matching bricks…not an easy task. Recently they did Grind and Tuck point work on my chimney which turned out great. This was in addition to the initial chimney inspection which was done earlier and discovered some much needed repair. They were also able to clean and get old paint off the brink from the front of the house which had been exposed during the remodel. Not an easy task and can's say enough about the hard work Jorge put in doing this job. Highly recommend.

When the company showed up below are pictures showing the intense work of laying down 3 drop clothes which took about five minutes and you can see they are using my chair to lay their tools on so needless to say we felt like we were ripped off. We contacted the company before leaving review and they had no interest in trying to make it right thus the poor review but the fireplace did turn out nice.

Jake came out to perform the initial inspection/quote and was very friendly and informative. He was able to assess the current fireplace and chimney condition and lay out the areas that needed repairs while also giving a few options for the end result. The inspection was quick and accurately set expectations for budgeting the necessary repairs. When the team came out for the repairs they were a professional crew who worked to protect the surrounding areas, both inside and outside the home, leaving no sign that they were here other than the completed work and a functional fireplace. We couldn’t be more pleased with the processes or the end result!

After receiving an estimate, they were quick to come out and get the measurements before ordering a custom-made stainless steel chase cover. When the custom cover arrived, they scheduled a time to install, and they ended up coming out a week early, which was great! The service (both on the phone and in person) was very friendly and welcoming. The installation went very smooth – and this all came at a great value (I shopped around and got quotes at 3 other places). I would strongly recommend Clean Sweep to my friends.

Chimney cap looks good, the flashing around the base was horribly done and roof shingles that were replace with gray color and the roof is tan. About a year later nothing was done. I'm again getting rain water coming down the flue again. Did text Gabe on the issue with no response

Randy Sprague (GMail) rated it 5/5: I had a new fireplace insert installed today October 25 2022. My install was scheduled for 8:30 and the installers showed up at 8:15 what service!! Jake and Rob did an excellent job and were very respectful of our home and very professional and great to work with. Jake also took extra time to explain all the functions and especially the pilot light mechanism and how to safely light and turn off. Also when I was looking for a new insert TJ's was at the top of the list so I visited the showroom. Brandon and Christine were very helpful in helping me decide what best fit my needs and situation. Hats off to all who were involved in my project. It was a very pleasant experience and I would absolutely recommend TJ's to anyone with fireplace and chimney needs.

The staff was very friendly, professional and talented. TJ’s did not consider the job complete until we were completely satisfied.

I wanted to update my last review since it wasn’t that great. The communication between the workers and the customers still needs a lot of work but the lady at the front desk who answers the phones is the only reason I chose to give this company another shot. She was extremely professional, polite and understanding with the situation at hand.

However, the only other frustration I have is that the technician came out to my house almost 1 hour and 30 minutes early without calling and I wasn’t home. Luckily I answered the ring door bell or I wouldn’t have known. At the end, the technician was extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful. But he did tell me that I would have a scheduled date and time for the services to be rendered either that day or the next. Since I already paid 30% of the total cost, I ended up calling back a day later since I didn’t receive a call to schedule and once again the lady at the desk mentioned that the turn around time is 5-7 days (because they order the parts needed to complete the job).

I would just suggest that all the employees need to be on the same page with turnaround times for scheduling as well as making customer communication a top priority.
