Before hiring David York, several companies assessed the issues with the chimneys and gave quotes that seemed high. Seeking another opinion, I found that David had excellent reviews from others so I asked him to give me an assessment. Because he uses a closed-circuit video system, he was able to confirm that I had experienced a chimney fire. He explained to me how to submit a claim to my insurance which resulted in complete repair of both chimneys and fireboxes which only personally cost me the $1000 home-owner insurance deductible. The work performed exceeded my expectations, and I am so pleased that I can now safely use both fireplaces this winter without fear of another chimney fire. David always worked with my work schedule, was on time, and was professional in providing the services. Both David and the assistant were careful not to leave a mess of ashes behind as they worked. They went the extra mile to explain what they did and why, as well as how to lite the wood-burning fireplace insert the first time. Lisa Green rated it 1/5: The first appointment scheduled he didn’t show up or answer my call or text until I kept calling back to back and he finally text back to say he called to cancel due to rain… then i text back saying I did not receive a voicemail canceling the appointment. The second appointment he arrived, stated the chimney needed to be worked on as inside the fireplace was twisted or bent something along those lines and then said it would be over $6000 to fix. So I decided to get a second opinion… and bam!!! It’s working. No smoke in the house and working properly. It was cleaned as well. He just took my $175 and my fireplace works just fine.
In response to your response and it’s funny you Never mentioned anything while at the home but was quick to take out money. Says a lot about you and your company!!

First off it’s not completed. Just showing that once it was cleaned out and we tested clearly i wrote in the photos it is being re done!! It hasn’t been altered we had to take the mantle and other stuff off and it’s being re done. And you said nothing about an owners manual. Why would i have that. I’m not the original owner of this home. So everything you’re stated here is invalid as we let that burn minimal to test and the company was there while it was going.

And the only thing you try to do was take our money. Didn’t even try to clean it. Just said it would cost 6500. I get you try to discount it.

You’re a joke and a dishonest company.

Michael Harrison (owner) diagnosed the problem being the bricks on our chimney were cracked and water was leaking in through them and the cement. He had to replace the chimney. Some additional work was done inside the chimney itself in order to make it 100% compliant. He and his crew worked diligently on this project and were professional and very friendly. He took the time to answers all of our questions and concerns. He took many pictures for our review which was helpful especially since I am scared of heights and unable to view the damage in person.

I was looking to have a fireplace/chimney inspected on a house I’m thinking of purchasing and they did not disappoint. They were extremely thorough with their job but what I was most impressed with was the absolute detailed report they had given me. They took down everything they saw and listed exactly what it was, what was wrong with it and why it was important to have it fixed along with pictures showing damage that I wouldn’t have found myself. In the long run probably saved me a lot of time and even more money. Highly recommend!
Steve rated it 2/5: They (Avery I believe) did an initial inspection of my chimney. The technician seemed very good and told me I would get the report in my email at the end of the day. When I got the report it didn’t have the information he told me would be included. Since then dealing with them has been completely frustrating. I have to call them multiple times per day and they take a message and then don’t call me back – other then one time. That conversation was with Dustin – he promised me a quote by the end of the day (that was last week). Ironically, I am begging them to give me a quote on an expensive chimney replacement – which you would think they would want to make that money. Apparently they are trying to avoid making money – I will never understand it. Two days ago they assured me I would get a call the same day – I am still waiting.

On 2/6/19, I had an appointment to have my rear fireplace panel replaced because it was cracked, as well as possible cleaning and inspection if needed. I work from home and Dustin arrived a little before 12 noon. It was a busy day at work so I told him I would be in my office if he needed anything. After a few minutes, he told me my fireplace needing cleaning so I okayed the cleaning and inspection.
A little more than an hour later, he was done and the bill was $529. I did not watch him so I asked about how dirty my fireplace was and how the outside chimney was. His response was it was dirty gesturing that a few inches of creosote came out and that the chimney needed some painted so it wouldn’t rust. Also he explained to have a small fire to cure the new back panel but the fireplace was closed up so I did not look at the time. I had to get back to work.

Later that night, I decided to start the small fire and open up the fireplace. I noticed as much as a ½ inch gap with a jagged cut on the left side between back and side panels. I could fit my finger in parts and touch the metal behind (Yes I have more pictures). This upset me especially because this gap was larger than the crack in my old panel which I had been told was getting to be unsafe. As a result of finding this, I reviewed my video surveillance clips. Dustin arrived at 11:52am and left at 12:55pm. He never got a ladder off his truck to get on my roof and check my chimney. He got the poles out of his truck for cleaning at 12:02 and put them back at 12:05. Needless to say, I was upset. I had paid for services that I did not receive as well as got a very poor quality job.

The next morning I called ACE Chimney and asked the lady that answered first to verify what services I should receive for the $179 cleaning and inspection. I was told it includes inside and outside roof inspection, running video camera down it and the actual cleaning. Explained the above including that I have videos to back my claims, as well as expressed my dissatisfaction with the gap and jagged cut of the panel. It seemed unsafe. She said she would talk to Dustin.

Dustin called me early in the afternoon. Went through the above again and let him know I was upset to have paid for services I didn’t receive. He finally admitted he did not get on the roof or run the camera because that is for “mason fireplaces only”. (Why do they not tell you that on the phone prior? Why do I pay that price then? Why did they do all these things last year?) When asking about having the pole out for 3 minutes, he said the fireplace wasn’t that dirty. (Why did he give the impression the day before it was extremely dirty? $179 for 3 minutes?) When discussing the back panel gap and cut, he said they are difficult to cut!! (Isn’t that why I paid a supposed professional to do it?) Offered to patch the gap (I guess using caulk or a mortar type material?!?) but previous panel was not mortared together.

In conclusion, I got a full refund. I never mind paying for professional services I need but I expect a professional job as well as getting ALL the services I pay for. What has happened to ethics and professionalism? Thank goodness for my outside cameras!
I have struggled with posting this review because it is something I have rarely done. My brother though made a good point. If they did that to you, they are probably doing it to others and they should be warned. BEWARE!
Casey Boggs rated it 1/5: Very disappointed in the lack of actual service for the cost. We originally requested a chimney cleaning and got an invoice for $468 for an "inspection" that took very little time to perform–and our chimney actually didn't actually need a cleaning. The "inspection" then led to an estimate for $6,800 in repairs.
So we paid $460 for Ace Chimney Sweep to inform us that we need $6,800 in repairs and no cleaning, which is why we called in the first place. Where's the service in that cost?

When we called to get clarification and request for a reduction in our invoice since no real service was performed (just a costly inspection), we were given a big fat "sorry."

We're sorry too for wasting our valuable time and money on Ace Chimney Sweep. It could have been a different experience if they handled our situation differently…and they could have made more money.

The service and follow up they provided was impeccable.
After evaluating and replacing the cap, our original concern prompting the initial call (smoke smell in the house at certain times) still was present.
We reached back out to the company once again expressing concern of the problem.
Tony, the owner of Olde Towne made a trip to our home and personally checked the work they provided.
He also took the time to explain what could cause the smell and explained the impact and how drafts can cause this problem, putting our minds at ease.
What a breath of fresh air, to come across a company that still takes pride in what they do and care for their customers the way Tony and his staff displayed.

Lack of communication is appalling. Outright lying about coming out to finish the job? Yes. Setting appointments and no shows, that too. I see they still have appointments available for new customers to call in about. I do not suggest it.

A couple days later I was working in the area and decided to stop in Eastwood. I asked the lady that greeted me why we haven't received an estimate. She said it was on another woman's desk that she was working on it. 6 weeks later and still NOTHING! If we ran our business this way we wouldn't have a business. If getting an estimate is like pulling teeth…I can't imagine how the actual work and job scheduling would go!

Installed as I purchased it would have looked horrible. Eastwood worked for hours to correct and adjust the placement of the insert so the final product looked really good. Pictures to follow once a fire is burning. One of the best places in town for any service. Yes they are swamped with work and it is not the easiest to reach them but keep trying as the finished product will be worth it.
perry lee rated it 5/5: We have been using Eastwood's services for about five years now. We were using a chimney sweep in Lawrenceburg, but he closed up shop five or six years ago. We called three or four places to switch our business to, but they all declined us, saying we were too far away, or "out of their service area." Eastwood was the only company willing to come out here and do our inspection and cleaning.
The men who have come are always prompt and professional. They inspect the wood burning insert and inform us of any problems. We couldn't ask for better service.
We had an appointment scheduled for next week, but a necessary medical procedure caused a conflict. We told Vickie about the problem, and she immediately began calling other customers and seeing who was willing to move their appointment. As slammed as they are in these troubled times, she took the time to make sure that everyone she talked to was okay with their new time slot, and she had found a time that worked for us. Thank you Vickie!
We will stay with Eastwood as long as we live near them, and they are willing to keep coming out here.

They were both polite and helpful, answering all my questions and they didn't leave a speck of dirt in my home. They will be my "go to" fireplace service company from now on. Missy, the office scheduler got me an appointment right away, kept in touch and was extremely helpful and friendly as well. I was very pleased with my service!

They gave a 3 hour window on the date and showed up exactly at the earliest possible time in the window. James was very knowledgeable and diagnosed the issue within 10 minutes, explained the best way to fix it (most cost effective), and was on his way. Will definitely call them in the future for any fireplace services.

From the initial inspection by Chase, the coordination between Nick and David regarding the product selection for our application, and the installation by Justin, Jacob, and David – we are thrilled with our new fireplace. The professionalism from the first visit through the final installation (Nick returning to our home to show me how to remove the safety screen) the service was impeccable. I would rate this company AAA+ and will be utilizing them for our future HVAC requirements.

I contacted The Fire Place and worked with Susan, over the phone, to schedule (who offered wonderful customer service from start to finish). David was the The Fire Place expert sent to our home. David was professional and knowledgable of our system. The logs looked brand new when David left our home. Lastly, David came back to our home for a second visit to answer a few more questions about how to work our older model of logs. I recommend The Fire Place and look forward to working with them if I need fire place services again. Overall… customer service was impeccable!!!
Kelly Sienkowski rated it 1/5: I would rate them zero! They sent out a technician to service my fireplace and he couldn’t light the pilot! Recommend I call a plumber to fix the gas line. The plumber lit the pilot with no problem from the gas line. The Fire Place company graciously (sarcasm intended) didn’t charge me but now I am left with a $230 plumbing bill and a fireplace that still hasn’t been serviced.

Joanie Lepping rated it 5/5: I cannot recommend this business enough. Hisham came out to inspect our chimney to ensure it was safe enough to use ahead of an expected winter storm. He was knowledgeable, he answered ALL of my questions (and I had many, many questions), provided an inspection of the chimney (no issue with climbing on the roof, as another reviewer mentioned), and provided several tips on how to build and burn a clean, enjoyable fire. He also recommended some tools to purchase to ensure we are burning a fire safely around our children. The same day as the service was provided, I recommended Chimney Master to a teacher at my daughter's school and to my sister. From a cost perspective, Chimney Master was cheaper than an alternative company who we had scheduled to come out, and they were available to provide the service much sooner.
Here's the REAL kicker… we are fireplace newbies and weren't sure what to do when we filled out house with smoke the first time we tried to light it. We called the owner of Chimney Master the day of a big ice storm to explain what we did and see if we made a mistake along the way. Can you believe he responded that he just lived a few miles away and would come over to see if he could help – and he did! In the ice mess!

Long review short, we believe we received superior service from these guys at Chimney Master and we will absolutely be using them again the next time we need chimney service or a sweep.

Regarding other reviews left… we read them before having Chimney Master out and we still decided to give this company a try regardless of a few negative things others had shared. We are so glad we did!
Laura Bland rated it 5/5: We were very pleased with the two guys that came out today. They were very nice and respectful. I was able to see all of the build-up that they were cleaning out of our wood burning stove insert pipe in the chimney. 5 stars for being prompt in getting us scheduled in, giving me a 20 minute call ahead, explaining what they were doing, didn't mind curious customers watching them work, and taking precautions not to damage our floor or insert as well as cleaning up afterwards. I'd highly recommend them!
Robert Tychonievich rated it 5/5: He rescheduled to come over in 15 minutes when he realized that our hot water heater wasn't able to be turned on. After inspection he found out that it was a masonry blockage and he was unable to clean it so he cleaned up and left us free of charge with the inspection.

The owner came, and decided instead of rescheduling he would simply declare it "not a good day to get up on the roof cause I'm a old man"
He misidentified my wood furnace, the entire purpose of the inspection was to make sure it and the chimney were safe.
Was at my house a total of 15 minutes and declared since he'd been bothered to come out all the way to my house (well within his supposed coverage area) that yes he felt it was fair to charge me for the above.
He glanced in the chimney, barely, and declared it unsafe.
This was to be the second opinion on this house so I could form a plan of action and I feel like he couldn't even be bothered to go through the motions.
Like taking your car to the mechanic and them never even lifting it up to inspect the suspension.
He's in it for the easy money not the customer service. Go elsewhere for inspections. This man will rob you and feel okay about it.

Taylor arrived a bit early and got straight to work. He not only cleaned and inspected the unit, he educated us on the components of our firebox and the chimney. Jeremy Embry rated it 1/5: Based upon the favorable reviews, I contacted All Aspects Chimney Service to come and inspect the fireplace on a property that I am in the process of purchasing. Because time was of the essence within the due diligence period, Taylor was very gracious and agreed to squeeze me into his schedule. We discussed the property, I told him my concerns and let him know that the house was very tall and on a hill. My realtor and I showed up over an hour before the time Taylor was scheduled to arrive so that we could discuss some other business. We waited nearly 1/2 an hour after the inspection time before Taylor's office called. "Taylor just called. He just left your house. He was on the back deck, put up his ladder and said the house was too tall. There is no way he can reach the roof." I explained that my realtor and I had been at the house for over an hour– he never showed up. We were sitting in the kitchen which overlooks the back deck. The lady told me that Taylor would call me right back to discuss further. Still haven't heard back. Wasted my time, and also put me in a bind with my due diligence period. Majorly disappointed.
