We called them out for a simple installation of a laundry fan to hooking our dryer plug to a new breaker. Finding out we needed a whole new breaker panel. They did this job very quickly and efficiently. I definitely want Jorge and Adam to come back to our home to preform additional work that we plan on doing in the future.

JR Hernandez quickly diagnosed our problem and was very clear and articulate when communicating the problem and presenting the tiered options for repair. Once we selected our option, he was able to do the work swiftly, efficiently, and was friendly all the while. I felt very comfortable and would use these guys again. They’re not cheap but they know what they are doing and you get what you pay for. I would use these guys again for any major problems or projects.

Anna J rated it 5/5: Very, very expensive but you get what you pay for. Our electrician was only a few minutes late, wearing a mask properly (I am vulnerable), and happily put on shoe covers. He was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and best of all, honest. He fixed our broken thermostat after we gave him permission to, but before he did, he told us the truth about how HVAC would've been cheaper. I wasn't expecting integrity along with my morning coffee!
That was impressive and part of why we went ahead with the repair despite the extra cost. Who knows how long it would take to find a similarly excellent repairman? Luis also answered all of our other questions; we live in a 116 year old house with a ton of electrical issues. He told us how to address two minor issues, then gave us a very useful estimate for our terrible kitchen lighting.

He was in and out in under an hour– so no one had to miss work! I understand why people call Powell Electric. While it is expensive, if you don't have time or patience for this city's incredibly unprofessional and incompetent repair people, Powell is the best choice.

Next, Brian and Andrew came two days later. They repaired 4 more outlets, 3 switches, installed 2 light fixtures, pulled out a cable wire and even patched up both sides of the wall. They were very professional, respectful and cleaned up after themselves.

We cannot be more happy with the services provided and are extremely happy with the customer service from the Powell Electric team. We will definitely be doing business with them again (:

They charged me $99 to give me an estimate for a simple job that was almost FIVE TIMES the price of other electricians. I've read some of their responses to reviews here and they say they pride themselves on providing upfront pricing. They do not provide upfront pricing. They charge a hundred dollars to give you a grossly inflated price. They come out ahead whether they do the job or not. Have never had such a shady experience with a business before.
UPDATE: Powell followed up with me via phone to explain why they think $1200 was an appropriate cost to swap out fountain pumps. I was still able to get the job done by another electrician for $100. But Powell reimbursed the charge for the estimate call. I appreciate their professionalism and proactive willingness to make it right and have updated my review to reflect that.
W K rated it 1/5: They charge $99 to get a quote, regardless of the size of your job. I needed an RV outlet. Called by phone and asked if I can share pictures or a video from my panel box can they quote me a price? I was told no. The pictures will not be sufficient. We have to go out. Yesterday, they sent a gentleman, who was kind and friendly. I showed him the box he looked for two minutes left the lid removed a screw to see the circuit breaker and was ready to give me an estimate. Did I ask so how much? I don’t know I have to call the office. So, the so-called authorized technician had to call the office to describe what was required and give me three quotes on the price. $19,000 $5,000 and $2,000 billed my $99 credit card and left. Why haven't I considered it? Load $99 for estimates, 2 estimates per hour, 8 hours per day, pocket fee $1,500 per day and you don't have to lift a finger to do the work. Why is that so? Because when the client sees the estimated price of the quotation twice as much as the others, he will pay $99, and thank you for coming.
I had two previous estimates to get the same job done first at $700 second at $1050 and Powell Electric$1990. The $700 guy had no license. He is out. The $1050 was authorized with the local store. These are two types of thieves. The thieves in the middle of the night and then there's Powell Electric, they steal from you with a smile and they take credit cards. The following pictures are all he needed to give me 3 estimates ranging from $1990 to $19990. that could have been done over the email or a phone call.
