CM rated it 5/5: Young Electric bid out upgrading our electrical panel and service, moving our meter, and rewiring our kitchen and laundry room at a reasonable price, for a house that few were willing to touch due to its age and the scope of the work. All of their work passed the City rough in inspection with flying colors. Mark the Master Electrician was pragmatic, punctual and very communicative, as was their office staff. They were even able to bump up our project on their schedule when another big project got moved. The only hiccup was the electrical they ran for our laundry room went through the area of the ceiling we were planning to designate for the attic access panel, requiring us to move the panel. The location of the panel should've been noted on the building plans but it wasn't, which was not Young Electric's fault. Moving it was not a big deal for us. Quite happy with their service so far. I'll update this review once the final inspection is done in late April/early May.

And the electrician they sent, James, was the best. Super friendly and super professional. The installation of the two fans went perfectly. No damage and no mess. On the day of installation, the team worked quickly and cleanly, very pleased with the outcome! We had plugs replaced, outdoor plug added and line run to our shed, and all done in 1/2 day. I will definitely use this company again.
elva salkeld rated it 1/5: I hired them to do a shower valve replacement. The installer came over and while removing the valve, broke the pipe. He said it is cvpc pipe and is weak and gets brittle. Nevertheless, they cut two holes in two different closets to access the broken pipe in order to cap it. He didn't finish the job that day. They called to come back to fix the job the next day and we would pay a total of around $947. We told them we didn't want to do that as we thought the price was too high (the original quote to replace the valve was for $335). The next week, they sent a bill for $587 for a shower that doesn't work and two holes in two separate closets that we now have to pay for.
The shower still isn't working after two weeks and today they told us we are looking to have work done for "free" as we were asking them to come back and fix the pipe they broke and replace the shower valve for $335. Needless to say, we will not be wanting to have them work on our plumbing again.

They had a great package deal to get us set up within a day!

Kevin made all of the repairs in the electrical panel, installed an outdoor outlet with cover, installed two GFCI, and he exceeded expectations by replacing our recessed lights with hardwired fixtures, and skillfully did so with no visible damage to the plaster in the ceiling. He was excellent. Food is better here than in Chicago though, Kevin.

We’ve worked with White Lightning a few times before – everything from new outlets to wiring issues to huge light fixtures – and we will definitely call them again.

Once I contacted Gerryn Energy they were able to provide a quote the next day. We had a gas range top that was installed by another contractor. We discovered that the gas connection was not done appropriately and it leaks. We panicked and immediately called Portland Installation. They were able to come the next day. The team came on time. They were professional and understood our problem. They took the rangetop down and re-installed it. Then we discovered that the prior contractor was just putting the unit on a wood plank that was not secured in place. Luckily Portland Installation was able to help put a bracket around and secure the position. While they were here, the team even helped check the dishwasher job the prior guy installed and also helped out with a small cosmetic issue with the dishwasher.

Eric Christiansen rated it 5/5: I got a new electric double oven to replace my existing one. The new one was slightly more tall and they said they could cut the cabinets to fit. Scheduled for after my oven was to be delivered.
On the day of the install they contacted me to say they were running late and asked if the new time slot was acceptable. I was ok with it and they let me know way in advance.

The two guys that came were super professional and nice. They knew exactly what to do and went right to work. They cut the cabinet and had the oven installed in a few minutes. Everyone looks and works perfectly. They also cleaned up everything and left me the accessories and instructions.

Total bill was $346 which is great for the service and work they did.

Helen Furber rated it 1/5: Not a good experience with squires who were hired to check and install a ground line for a sewer line repair, and also relocate a switch / install recessed bath lighting at the same time. Not only did the guy drill 8 x 4" holes in our basement ceiling totally unnecessarily (if he had just walked outside to look next to the panel box he would have seen the ground line) but the wall light switch that was relocated has always been loose. I finally got fed up of it hanging out of the wall and decided to figure out what went wrong. Well they couldn't stretch an extra $1 to buy an old work box and instead decided to use foam to try and glue a wall box without the little fins in place. The dimmer in our bathroom has also never worked properly and during install he admitted he hadn't read the instructions for it so I'm about to figure out what mess-up happened there…conclusion: expensive for not good work.

Alameda did a full replacement of my panel, upgraded the service on my house, brought old electrical up to code, rewired my hot tub, installed five outlets and a kiln outlet in my garage, installed a wall heater, installed two new breakers in my garage, put in two indoor light fixtures, and put in a new outdoor light fixture. Everything looks AMAZING and works so well.

I can’t express how friendly the workers were who came to the house. Everyone was kind and professional. I slowed down the project doing insulation an drywall myself, and they were incredibly patient, allowing me to pay as I went after each part of the project was completed. They came in super quickly after each step was done.

Billing and payment were done through an online portal and worked without issues. Communicating about the project was fast and easy.

I’ll definitely continue to use them for future electrical projects. Highly recommend them to friends as well.

Brenna Denight rated it 5/5: I loved working with Alameda, particularly with my project manager Matt. They communicated regularly and politely about project requirements, scheduling, and pricing. I got quotes from four different electricians for the job, and they were priced the most reasonably. They also came up with an idea for my panel replacement that saved me thousands of dollars. My inspector couldn’t stop remarking on how excellent the work looked when the project was complete.
Alameda did a full replacement of my panel, upgraded the service on my house, brought old electrical up to code, rewired my hot tub, installed five outlets and a kiln outlet in my garage, installed a wall heater, installed two new breakers in my garage, put in two indoor light fixtures, and put in a new outdoor light fixture. Everything looks AMAZING and works so well.

I can’t express how friendly the workers were who came to the house. Everyone was kind and professional. I slowed down the project doing insulation an drywall myself, and they were incredibly patient, allowing me to pay as I went after each part of the project was completed. They came in super quickly after each step was done.

Billing and payment were done through an online portal and worked without issues. Communicating about the project was fast and easy.

I’ll definitely continue to use them for future electrical projects. Highly recommend them to friends as well.

Lee did a fast and professional job installing two ceiling fans in my old house, including swapping out the switches exactly as I wanted. I am very happy with the work and will use them again.

Lee has always been a super awesome dude, extremely thorough in his explanations of the work he is doing and explains when he’s done as well. Audrey Bonnet rated it 5/5: I give Alameda Electric 5 stars for customer service. I reached out to 3 electricians to fix our electrical issue and Alameda Electric is the only one who responded to me. I was impressed how fast they got back to me even through they are busy and their offer to put me on their cancellation list since they are booked a ways out. We ended up fixing the issue ourselves and didn’t use their services but I’ll definitely reach out to them again next time we need work done.
Kathy Hoang rated it 2/5: Based on reviews – seems like it's pretty common to have a difficult time scheduling and communicating with them. We called them multiple times, took a long time to schedule an appointment, and when they finally came out to check out, they left promising to give us a quote in 24-48 hours. That did not happen and multiple unprofessional communication issues continued to occur, so we did not end up going with them. Not sure how good of a job they do when you can actually get them to come and do it, but just be warned that it seems they are not the most professional, organized company that respects your time from our perspective.

They were both very friendly, kind, hard working, and very patient with my 2 dogs who were underfoot a good deal of the time. I felt the price they charged was very reasonable. I highly recommend them for electrical work.

He's the best, not only does he know hot stuff you get to listen to his sense is humor while he works. His jokes are so bad it's impossible not to laugh. We really trust Brian and this company. Will be sad to leave this state and not have him work for us anymore.

Highly skilled, extremely thorough, and probably one of the most technically knowledgeable people I have met from any trade over the course of remodeling. You will not regret hiring Advantage Electric.
Josh Netzer rated it 5/5: Finding a good, honest electrician in Portland can be as hard as finding a good dentist (Healthy Smiles) or a good mechanic (Hawthorne Auto) – too few and too far between.
We recently moved back to Portland and into an older South Tabor bungalow. As you can imagine, there were some electrical needs. I found Advantage the first time when I desperately needed to have my gas range outlet downgraded from a 220 to a 110. It was a small job, but I called 6 other outfits before Advantage said they could do it the same week – obviously wasn't a huge project or revenue point. Worked with Brian and mentioned that I had a few other things that I needed done around the house, but they weren't critical.

About a month later I called for a larger ($1000-$2000) residential bid and Brian came and gave an estimate. They completed the job today and I am totally satisfied with the work.

I was pleased to see that Brian had a couple of apprentices in along who were learning the trade. Sure, any electrician could probably have done this job, but it was the dedication to high-touch customer service, attention to detail, and the dedication of teaching a new generation of tradesmen these same skills will keep me coming back. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

Victor at RSK was the only one confident enough to repair my fridge and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Victor and his team.

Sam rated it 5/5: They had a tech on site the very next day after calling in the afternoon. Serge arrived on time and had the convection oven blower motor fixed in less than 20 minutes. The culprit was a bad starter capacitor which is way easier and less expensive than replacing the motor. I am very happy and will absolutely call RSK Services in the future.
