I could not find an installer! Home stores would sell the material, but they didn’t have installers or knew anyone to do it. Commercial places didn’t want to do residential. Finally, I found HandyMan Matters.
BRAVO!! James came taking measurements and sent a reasonable quote. He also supplied a materials list so I could buy the stuff myself.
BRAVO!! Dan and Nelson worked for 3 full days on the job, arriving on time and never taking a lunch break. I appreciated the work continuing until complete, they were not pulled off my job for another. Dan did some touch up work for half of a fourth day. He wanted to make sure my wife and I were pleased with the ceiling. We are!! Both men were polite and respectful of our home. They cleaned up and hauled away the scrap material.
BRAVO!! Ariane and James were quick to answer email questions I had before work started. I agreed to the work at the end of May and we arranged a start date of August 27 so I could finish my electrical, drywall, and painting before the ceiling went in. HandyMan Matters stuck to the start date with Dan calling the day before as a reminder.
I also had an odd heating pipe configuration in the basement which was going to make my boxing around the pipes more difficult. James suggested RightWay Heating to take a look at it. They did and reconfigured the pipes so my box out was smaller and it improved the air flow. Another BRAVO!!!
Elliott Feldman rated it 5/5: If you’re looking for a Columbus contractor that can get your home renovation (big OR SMALL) finished on time and at a great price without dealing with the typical nightmares of unreliability, unaccountability, and lack of professionalism, then Paul & Laura Hammer at Handyman are the Contractors for you.Full disclosure, my relationship with Handyman did not start out good as I tried reaching out to them and never heard back. I tried finding other contractors to help me install and frame a door that leads into my basement, but no contractor would take the job because it was “too small” and not a full bathroom & kitchen remodel job.
Out of necessity, I reached back to Handyman again, but I was very upfront to their representative about my concerns due to their lack of response on the first time I tried contacting them. After I got off the phone, the president of the company himself, Paul Hammer, reached out to me personally to apologize and explain that the reason they didn’t reach back was that they had just changed their internal software that logs all inbound calls and requests and my request was unfortunately lost in that transition period. Mistakes happen.

Paul assured me that that was not what he or his company stood for and assured me that he and his people could take care of the job. I was happy he apologized, but I was STUNNED about what happened next…

Paul actually told me that he would be coming out to the job site, personally, with his contractor to make sure the job was done correctly and that I would be happy with their work. Who does that?!

Please note, this was not an expensive job by any stretch. But sure enough, Paul came out with Nelson, and they:

(1) Installed & framed my door leading into the basement (requiring them to move the whole guardrail in the stairway down a few inches);
(2) Hung 3 Pictures on my walls;
(3) Installed a clothing rack in my closet;
(4) Hung a big cabinet in my basement bathroom above my toilet;
(5) Installed a towel rack in that bathroom; and
(6) Helped fix my leaking shower head in my shower that a prior contractor completely botched.

They did all of this and took great care to clean after themselves to not leave my house in a mess. Did I mention, they were really nice too?

I was SHOCKED then and I’m still shocked now thinking about it. And the price tag at the end of this was super reasonable too!

I would highly recommend Handyman to anyone in Columbus looking for a reliable contractor for any home improvement needs (big or small).

Everything was top notch from the scheduling department that kept in contact with me throughout this whole process even though there were shipping and weather delays. The installers showed up on time and explained to me everything that was going on through the entire process. They helped me make informed decisions in the installation process by explaining to me the pros and cons. They were very respectful of my property during and after the install process. It was an overall great experience.

Joe repaired and painted the porch – top to bottom plus stairs and Gabe washed/power washed the driveway, sidewalks, paver walk and patio. Each helped the other as needed. They were a great team, friendly and helpful. Cleaned up each afternoon before they left. We are very pleased with the results.

Charity, who I spoke to schedule my appointment was very patient and understanding in answering my questions and easing my concerns especially when I called back with additional questions (before I scheduled the appointment) and each time Charity took the time to answer them without fail. Brett, the service technician was efficient in completing the service repair in the time frame allotted. He was very conscientious in making sure the repair was done correctly. The staff on the phone and the technician were both kind and professional. The technician cleaned up all the boxes of the materials as well. He also noticed the window caulking was deteriorated badly, so he fixed that on the spot quickly. Additional cost but he saved me from potential water leak!
It was worth the money!!
The only change I would like to see is that the office needs to communicate with the technician and tell the customer that if the technician is coming early. I was lucky that I was working from home on that day and had no meeting but my technician showed up 2hrs early. It might not have worked that well.

However, I got a call this morning and they were able to fit us in today. They not only fixed our shelf (and re-painted the wall so it looks finished) but we’re also able to fix two other items!
The service was professional and friendly, the work looks perfect, and it was handled very quickly.
Mr. Handyman is going to be my new go-to! ☺️

I contacted them about replacing my cabinets and countertops, I also mentioned that my dream list would be to remove multiple walls and change the kitchen footprint. I wasn’t expecting that to be in my budget, Sheri was able to get the contractors out and get me a quote that was within my budget to complete the job the way I was wanting.
They did a great job on creating the digital renderings and making changes that we requested. Once the cabinets came in they got started on the project right away. Vasil was the contractor that showed up, he was very professional and had a work ethic like no other. Vasil took extreme pride in his work and wouldn’t leave anything less than perfect.
In the end Kitchen Tune-Up removed several walls ran new gas lines for the range, ripped up subfloors and replaced all the flooring on the first floor of my house, smoothed ceilings and installed new lighting. They installed very good quality cabinets and quartz countertops.
I would happily do business with this company again.

I’d recommend them to anyone! Sheri was so easy to work with. Professional and very friendly. (Now if my husband and I could settle on a wall color for our kitchen, that would be great. Haha)

Matt and his team kept us updated on installation information and design questions throughout the entire process. Once installation day came, the Kitchen Tune-Up team were extremely respectful of our space and my family and very detailed in their work. One thing that I appreciated throughout the process is how they kept me up to date on their next steps and answered any questions or concerns I had along the way. Once finished, everything looked incredible and we are extremely happy. This was a complete tear-down to the studs, new cabinets, countertops, floating shelves, backsplash, and appliances.Communication was stellar from the start and throughout the project, which more than met and actually exceeded our expectations based on previous experiences hiring contractors, etc. They provided clear timelines regarding demolition, plumbing, electrical, and other aspects of the scheduling throughout the project. When there was a small hiccup (Kitchen Tune-Up was not at fault) they worked with us to quickly and satisfactorily resolve.
Lastly, besides the overall quality and finish of the work, which is fantastic, we were extremely happy with the contractors and vendors they worked with for various aspects. Everyone was exceptionally professional, and the craftsmanship of the floating shelves were beyond our expectations.

Eric was very professional, he did caulked our shower and kitchen counters and replaced the board under our sink. He replaced the board, pipes and valves. It looks like new again. I highly recommend this company and Eric.

Andrea and Rick were extremely communicative and made the entire experience stress-free. It’s clear that this is a quality business with staff who actually care, which is increasingly hard to come by in terms of handymen contractors. We were able to get the work scheduled much sooner than expected, which was critical because we use that gate multiple times a day. I would not hesistate to use Ace for handyman work again.

He completed all tasks with great attention to detail, even addressing a few other minor issues he discovered. Work Included patching a small hole in the wall, fixing small piece of baseboard, hanging one light, fixing two curtain rods that came loose and anchoring our dishwasher. All work took about 9 hours. Five stars for him all the way. I gave 4 stars overall for value. This is definitely not the company you call to get a good deal. I paid top dollar and while I received high quality work, I’d be hesitant to book again as it was just too expensive compared to others we’ve called in the past. If price is not an issue for you then I’d recommend Ace confidently any day!

Not only did Evan come prepared with everything needed in one trip, but he was able to complete the job in a timely manner. Evan was extremely detailed and made sure everything about the shutters were to our liking before they were installed.
