David Riggleman rated it 2/5: While the quality of the work was ultimately good, make sure you are ready to pay significantly over the provided estimates. Also, my experience was not the best with failures in communication and other issues I will mention below.To provide some context, I had received an estimate of 8 hours for 3 smaller tasks. I had received a similar estimate from another company, but decided to go with Ace given the positive reputation even if not necessarily the cheapest. Despite being scheduled for 8am start (and adjusting my morning routine), the handyman did not arrive until 8:45am. After doing an initial on site review, he confirmed the 8 hours, even saying it most likely wouldn’t take that long. After about an hour, he had everything removed and assessed/measured and left to go pick up supplies a little after 10am. He wouldn’t arrive back at my house until around 1:45pm (taking an extra long lunch break), which suggests to me he was still confident the work could be completed in the original estimate and before the day ended, since he had made the purchases for all three tasks. However, as it started getting dark (and already one hour over budget), he was forced to call it quits for the day. I had also found him smoking a cigarette while on the job and doing the work near my house, which I find unprofessional. At this point, only two thirds of the work has been completed, or I guess technically not even that much since the one gutter was left “not completely secure, but secure enough” until he came back a second day.
To the credit of the company, the owner was at least responsive to my feedback and concerns and made some efforts in price reductions to compensate. When the handyman came back the second day to finish the work, he additionally discovered he had purchased the wrong part the prior day and had to make another trip to the hardware store. After finally completing the work, I ended up paying for about 25% over budget, which would have been well over 50% over budget without the cost discounts and other credits I was provided.

So in conclusion, while the quality of the work was good, an inability to provide reasonable estimates, and some other issues around communication and lack of professionalism, would lead me to mostly likely not recommending or using Ace in the future. While I understand estimates are just that, and some reasonable deviation is to be expected, if I was 50% over in my job, that wouldn’t be acceptable. And there was nothing discovered later on during the job that would provide an acceptable justification in my mind too lead to a significantly increased estimate other than just being bad at estimation, which is a critical skill a handyman should possess.

Gutters cleaned. A broken water softener and brine tank uninstalled and hauled away. Small amount of dry wall and ceiling repair. They could have been a bit neater. I found splattered dry wall residue everywhere and all the debris from the gutters was left in the yard. I was charged $1338. I’ll leave it up to the reader to decide if that was reasonable.

They eliminated the flex ductwork that was visible with metal. Ceiling and walls prepped and painted. Quite a fair amount of woodwork and sealing up from the outside elements. Farmhouse door installed to block off the furnace area. Eggcrates installed on ceiling. Added electrical and lights. Beyond happy with the results and process. Dan was a pleasure to work with and very helpful and the estimate was reasonable and we stayed on budget. Both Vic and Joe are true craftsmen and such a pleasure to work with also. The job was on time and with the highest quality. I also appreciated the recommendations they made along the way to tweak my design as it saved money and added value! I highly recommend Green Men. You will not be disappointed. I fully intend to use them in 4-5 years to build my garage.

Jason (one of the owners of the business) and Jacob came with only an hour or so notice after the scheduled installer’s truck broke down. They did a fantastic job, very efficient, and professional. I would definitely use them for other projects that come up in the future. Their prices are reasonable.

My parents are elderly and needed someone we could count on to do tings the right way and Nick certainly did just that… We hired him to install an under-cabinet Microwave and he went above and beyond the typical installation. He fabricated a wood bracket to hold the top side to the cabinet because the bolts did not reach from the top. I think it is more secure now then the factory installation would have ever been. It is perfectly straight and he cleaned up everything like he was never there. I could not have asked for a better installation from anyone. Nick is a Five Star worker. I Highly recommend his services!!!

I appreciate very much his attention to detail, his pricing is fair and he’s always helpful, like when he fixed a faucet handle that had come off. I showed it to him, after he’d completed the work I’d hired him to do. He could have just as easily headed out the door (I only asked for advice on the fix, and I didn’t expect any more), but he made sure it was done before he left.

Definitely would highly recommended him!!

I texted them about some small jobs and they replied right back that they wouldn’t be able to help for several months – and that in itself is good service.Though I continue my search for a good carpenter on some small jobs, it’s pretty rare to get an honest and fast reply and I just want to say thanks for that, it shows they take service seriously. Next time I have a big job that needs planning we’re definitely reaching out.
