At our ages we no longer climb on ladders or chairs, crawl on floors, to do basic maintenence, repair, or install appliances & replace fixtures. So glad we called Ace. We needed three ceiling lights replaced, a rear door adjusted so that it would lock, & the kitchen sink faucet repaired or replaced. Great experience. They sent over Joe Villanueva a Handyman craftsman to do the various jobs for us. He worked quietly, quickly, diligently & efficiently. We are happy with the end results. The faucet was replaced with a new fixture from the Home Depot. In short order the door and latching hole were adjusted so the latch locks in place. Price charged for services was more than reasonable. We will highly recommend Ace & this Handyman to others.

Today, Germán the Handyman came out to remove and replace 2 sets of old attic ladders. It was hard work but he didn’t slow down and worked diligently the entire day. He was very friendly, courteous and efficient. I felt very comfortable having him in our home. Another handyman, Blake came at one point to assist and was also friendly and hardworking. We will definitely be using their services again soon and recommend you give them a call too!

Melissa Duran rated it 5/5: Need something repaired at your house? Need a total renovation? Freddy is your man! He and his crew are fast, fair, and phenomenal! I hired Freddy to completely renovate our rental property that had been destroyed by tenants. There were holes punched in just about every wall and door in the house. The floors were ruined, doors were broken, there was water damage, paint or tar on the exterior brick and windows, and it was a filthy mess. Freddy assessed the damage, and worked with us to determine what we needed to replace, and what we could repair/salvage in order to stay within our budget. He and his team installed new flooring throughout the house, replaced and installed interior and exterior doors, painted the interior, as well as the garage, repaired broken locks on the back sliding glass door, and the exterior garage door, installed new faucets and shower heads, installed lights, installed bathroom mirrors and towel racks, and repaired drywall all throughout the house and garage. We were a bit over our budget and had to decide whether to replace the tubs and surrounds – they were filthy and had a few cracks. He was able to salvage the existing tubs and surrounds – they sparkled like they were almost new! He and his crew cleaned up as they went, and Freddy even trimmed the hedges, which gave the “wow” factor to the front entrance of the house. Freddy’s passion for making homes beautiful really shows in his work. He’s extremely detailed and he truly cares. I trust him with the smallest of home repairs or a total renovation. Freddy is an absolute gem!

The brother-sister combo at this place is outstanding with Tommy doing the hard work and his sister running the office. The choices of fabric are great and the prices reasonable. We had our kitchen chair seats re-covered. Great work, great cushions, and excellent look. The 8 chairs look like new and we just took the seats off and delivered them to the store for re-upholstery. The completion date was earlier than the promised one. Friendly, responsive to problems, and professional with great advice. Use the Google maps to find location, it is tricky.

There were some big item issues that required a lot of planning and materials work – concrete, windows, gutters, etc. – and he handled it and coordinated with subcontractors like a pro. While I can’t speak to materials cost – this year was crazy – the pricing on labor was very fair and he was upfront and accurate on everything from the get go. Look at the silly string of repetitive 1 star reviews and horrible stories that first starts with a senior citizen taken advantage of, then its a blind disabled person? All these reviews within a 12 hour period? Come on Google, you can do better. These guys have done remodel work and roof for our home and rental properties for years. They are trustworthy and reputable and have been in business for over 15 years. Look at the reviews of real work and have these guys come out for all your home repair needs.

I had started the process of taking the texture off on my walls in the main areas of my home but just didn’t have the time to finish it AND I don’t have the skills required to make it look seem less. I went online and was able to make an appointment for an estimate for later that week and they continued to be informative and responsive throughout the whole process. Juan and Luis, who were fantastic, worked on the walls primarily which turned out far better than I could have expected and I’m very pleased with the quality of the finish. I am so great full for this experience and am planning on hiring them to work on the master bathroom next.
Jackson Floyd rated it 4/5: Overall, we’re very pleased with final product and the experience we had with Alamo City Handymen.We did feel like the estimate missed some expenses that should’ve been expected — we ended about $5k over the estimate for our remodeling project. We also ended up more involved in the design process that we anticipated; we would’ve liked more ideas for what our project could’ve looked like, but we’re happy with the design we ended up with!
Our contractor, Chris communicated consistently and effectively and kept us in the loop throughout the job. The subcontractors, Jovani and Geraldo were excellent, respectful and professional. 99% of the project was finished on time, and the team was quick to fix aspects of the project we were not 100% satisfied with.

We had one issue where we were not expecting the workers to have to unplug and move the fridge again, so we’d loaded it up with groceries. They ended up unplugging it for more than 48 hours, and we lost a full grocery run.

The repairs were pretty obvious except that Phillip said he smelled mold from around the washer where the drywall work was needed. I hadn’t noticed the smell but assumed it must be coming from the washer. He gave me a rough estimate for the work but warned me that it could cost more depending on what was behind the drywall. When he and his crew came to do the the job they found that the plumbing behind the drywall had been leaking slowly for a long time. Even I could see the slipshod work that had been covered up when the house was originally built. The mold was obvious. One more day was needed to do all work. He showed me all the necessary repairs and asked for my permission to continue at each step. The work was fantastic. I would compare it to ANY other company’s work. I could not see that the drywall had ever been disturbed. The cabinets they repainted looked better than new. No exaggeration. His final bill was the same as the estimate even with the extra work. They cleaned up the work areas thoroughly. I would strongly recommend HPM to anyone who needs repairs. His crew is also very polite and personable and easy to work with.

Phillip did an excellent job repairing our exterior doors. The heavy wooden front door was sagging and becoming harder to latch and lock. Phillip and his crew realigned the door, adjusted the hinges and strike plates, and improved the security of both the hinges and deadbolt. The door now works perfectly. He also replaced an ill-fitting and drafty back door. The back door now closes and seals properly, again with enhanced security.
All Phillip’s repair work on our doors was professional. He explained each problem he identified, including why the repair was necessary and how he intended to do it. Phillip is a skilled, experienced perfectionist; he did not claim that a repair was completed until it met his high personal standards. He took no short-cuts on labor or materials.
One added note: He may be booked up when you call, but any wait is worth it.

I’m relatively handy myself, and he had no problem guiding me through some complex instal instructions / specifications. When he arrived, he was flexible and willing to address multiple other issues as well. he went above and beyond to keep our home clean and hauled away difficult trash as well. We would highly recommend him!

Michael Crocker rated it 5/5: My wife and I wanted to transform this ugly double-door opening (previously a crafts room/office space) into a proper 4th bedroom, and this is the solution Phillip proposed (see pictures). He explained in detail how we could make this happen.He and his subcontractors were very pleasant to work with. They were so considerate of us, as well as the fact that we have a toddler running around the house (Example: letting us know when there would be loud noise or debris so that we could take our kiddo out for a walk).
At the last minute, we asked them if they could replace the light fixture with a ceiling fan. If there’s a will, there’s a way, and Phillip always made sure there was a way. He clearly expects nothing but the best for his clients.

He even went out of his way to fix our front doorknob that kept getting stuck—no additional charge. Phillip goes above and beyond. Amazing experience from start to finish. Easily the best contractor we’ve ever worked with.

From the initial call Phillip was courteous and knowledgeable about my door frame issue. Made it to my house in a quick time frame and resolved my issue. They also went above and beyond by trimming the trees they had removed for the fence line and turning them into firewood. We were impressed with the finished product and already plan on using them again to install a concrete slab in our yard.
