Jonathon’s service and diagnosis was refreshingly honest. I had previously contacted another company for a routine cleaning/ maintenance and to understand why our system seemed to struggle periodically. Their recommendation was expensive and seemed suspicious. I am so happy I found Champion AC for a second opinion. Jonathon was friendly, courteous and respectful He was able to assure me that there was nothing wrong with our system and explained what to look for in case the Circuit board begins to falter or if the unit ever develops a leak in coolant. He did an excellent job in cleaning the blower and surrounding components for a very reasonable cost. I am grateful to know that there are still honest and reliable companies to be found AND that I would not have to purchase a very expensive part or replace the system entirely. Not only that, but our 17 year old hot water heater decided to quit us on Monday, and Anthony came to give us an estimate on Tuesday evening, and Anthony and Mickey had completed the installation by 1:30 on Wednesday afternoon! I’ve never heard of any appliance being installed so quickly, nor with such genuine joy. We are thrilled that we made the choice to use Champion Plumbing for our new hot water heater!

Work was done well and quickly to our satisfaction and he made a recommendation for better room overhead lighting that we will probably do later this month. Appreciated his initiative in suggesting the improvement. Don't change your name Champion AC — the AC stands for 'alternate current', right?! Let's get cracking on the job.

The system failed within 1 month due to an improper installation and after at least 4 different service calls not including the 2 separate installation visits- they still failed inspection on multiple angles. The outside unit wasn't even bolted to the slab…The inspectors knew right away the work was shotty and even after several months, still failed inspection.

    AC Champion guaranteed a 100% refund but is not sticking by it and is telling us to make a claim with a bank instead of issuing a refund. Their workers also damaged our ceilings upon removing the installation in multiple places and lied to my face about the uninstallation process. It's a good thing we kept footage and have comprehensive security footage and documentation.

    Would never recommend this company ever.

George the technician that was sent out is amazing, he came out and diagnosed the issue. Although it was not something we were expecting considering it is a brand new home he treated the issue with so much care and consideration. Which is exactly what we needed during such a stressful time. I felt he was on our side and genuinely cared. He walked in with a stuffed dog named Sadie and small gestures like that just put me at ease.
He walked us through the whole process to make sure we understood and were happy.

We then spoke to Tim who helped us picked the best AC for our home. Giving us 1-5 star ratings on systems. Tim as well treated this issue with so much care and consideration.

Through each step of this process I felt very informed and aware of what was going on.

  • Ty Williams rated it 5/5: Our AC system froze up on June 7. We called a local Cibolo tech who said to thaw out the system, change the air filter, and see what happens. All was good for a week or so; it appeared. I respect tech who was not out to grab money. We called Goettl on Sunday, June 19, and arranged for a rejuvenation. On Tuesday, June 21, the system froze again, and we called Goettl and told them the service call needed to shift from "re juuuuu-venation" to repair and possible replacement. The air handler was 8.5 years; the compressor was as old as the house,13.5 years old. The air handler died immediately when the warranty expired and was replaced with a different brand than the compressor. We have 3220 sq feet to cool.

    Goettl texted me and said a technician would be coming between 1 and 3 p.m. (the appointment time was bumped up., Yay!) on Wednesday, June 22. Our tech guy Billy, friendly and professional, took a look at our compressor and suggested that the compressor may be too small for the house. *Spoiler alert* He was right. He looked inside the system and ran several checks. The starting current for the compressor was just over 150 amps–not good. The compressor's max rating was 130 amps. The dude gave me some serious side-eye when I told him the air handler and compressor were different brands. Based on his looks and no words from him, this choice was egregious and unforgivable in Billy's world. I told him the price was right, and the fix lasted 8.5 years. He said that argument was hard to refute. He asked about the need for portable AC units that kept us afloat.

    The conversation was an easy one. There was zero pressure from Billy to upgrade. We discussed options such as ductwork and an additional thermostat for upstairs to deal with top versus floor heating and cooling differences and hopefully eliminate the need for portable AC units. Billy suggested that those future upgrades or modifications may be considered after the new system was in place. This former Navy Nuke knew that an upgrade was in order.

    The Goettl team arranged financing, at an excellent rate, in literally minutes via text messages and phone conversations. The Goettl teamwork was impressive because it was collaborative and factual. Then they offered us five options and discussed each cost, ratings, and warranty. We went with Number 4. Goettl arranged for next-day installation.

    As it happened on Wednesday, we received a text from Goettl on Thursday, June 23, saying that the installation team would be arriving around 1:30. The team and I hope I get the names right, Robert, Marcus, and Manny, got straight to work. Six hours later, we had an epic new system with matching parts.

    In celebration, we went out to Mr. Crabby's for another terrific meal. When we left, the downstairs was 76 degrees, and the upstairs was 82. When we returned in two hours, all rooms in the house were at 73°F. Kudos to Goettl and the entire team! Highly recommended. Being a college professor and former US Navy nuclear reactor operator, facts matter. Goettl's commercials suggest that they are very tech-savvy. The company's founder, the dad, was technically and ethically impressive. His traits and standards have been passed down and enhanced. They indeed do things the right way, not the easy way.

    The entire was not perfect. The text messages indicated the arrival time was just enough time for my wife or me to jet home and greet them. A little lead time could be helpful, but timing jobs of this nature to the hour or minutes is nearly impossible if you are doing things correctly. So my score is 99.9% out of 100.

It was 84 in our house when they arrived and house has already cooled 6 degrees! 🥵 Very grateful for Goettl and their excellent customer service. We signed up as a member because we were so impressed and are looking forward to receiving regular maintenance from them.

Unfortunately, Daddy didn’t do a great job of system maintenance so we found out a full system replacement was in order. Jaime was able to clean up a bit to keep us running and he also got us in touch with the sales team to get started on the project. Thanks, Jaime! The best part was we actually booked a new system installation for the very next day!

    Just wanted to add that the new system has been installed and is working amazingly well. There are rooms in our house that are now cool where I had just given up. The installation team, Manny & Joe, were great. They made sure to clean up after themselves and they put up with our 3 dogs/site managers shadowing them the entire time. Manny was clearly knowledgeable and cared about his profession and that the job was being done right. The project wrapped up yesterday with a visit from the quality inspector, Josue, who certified the previous work and answered any open questions. All in all, a great experience!

He did not pressure is into making a purchase on the spot and encouraged us to review the estimates carefully before making our final decision. Normally, we expect a technician to be pushy and try to encourage an immediate purchase but he was the exact opposite. He was patient, kind, and very insightful. We would highly recommend giving Shafer Services a call him for any water softener, plumbing, out AC repairs.

Called Elmer’s and in under 3 hours they were here…tell me how your tech did not see that the inside unit was rusted and on its way to compleat Death. Thanks to your tech this company lost out on a complete system replacement. 17 thousand dollars missed out. GOOD JOB!!!!

We called to set up an appointment for a tech to come out and they were able to schedule us same day which is great in the Texas heat! Pablo was ver commutative with the estimated time he would arrive and was right on time. He was very professional and diagnosed the issue quickly. He arrived at 11:45am, still within the promised window. A good start, and it got even better. Jose was neat, clean, articulate and respectful. A knowledgeable professional, Jose walked me through the process and answered my every question. Even though the weather was fair, Jose wore those little booties that protect floors. I was going to have just the AC system serviced, but I felt so comfortable with this company and with their technician that I agreed to have the furnace serviced too. All the work was done in great detail and we were made to feel like we were his most important appointment. Then one day my AC/heating system went out. I heard a clunking sound and a bang, then it stopped working. I called Zimmerman Air Conditioning and Heating. They gave me a same-day appointment. They were upfront with the cost for them to come out and  give me a repair estimate. I had a bad thermostat; my blower motor went out and I had a damaged blower wheel assembly caused by a previous electrical surge and repairs. I had no clue what just had happened to my AC/Heating system, Dave the technician took his time and effort to help me understand what all that had gone wrong with my system. I was feeling hopeless and unsure about everything, but Dave answered all of my questions and concerns. I was very pleased and thankful that he was so helpful. They were so thorough that the owner Terry came out, and he was great,  he reassured me that I could be confident in their work and  the quality of the replacement equipment  that they utilized. Terry the owner meant business he had Max bring the replacement parts, making the work  that needed to be done quickly and very efficient. The company is very much invested in giving back to the community and has a special program available to clients in need of services with financial restrictions, I was able to utilize the program. I was so impressed by Zimmerman’s services,  I  never write reviews, because they are qualified professionals, but I had to. My system is now working fine, I am so happy with my  AC/heating system. I highly recommend their services.

Called the phone number even though Google said they were closed and lo & behold, someone picked up and about 30 minutes later, Timothy showed up at almost 9pm and took the time to figure out what was going on. Almost two hours to troubleshoot and repair. Probably the best customer service I could have hoped for. In the heat and dark, he was determined to get the job done. Truly a testament to old school customer service and commitment to getting the job done. For such a young man, really a diamond in the rough. Great hire Zimmerman and thank you for picking up the phone after hours! I had been up since 330am after taking my wife to the airport and a full day's work. They did a great job on replacing a 40 year old system. I felt they were respectful of my time and property. We opted for them to come the same day at 5p, which they did but it was after 5p. The young men that came were very pleasant, apologetic and very respectful. They immediately started their work, very efficient and kept us informed about what they were doing. They completed everything, cleaned the blower, cleaned the air ducts and vents, and installed the lamp to kill mold. Everything was completed in a timely manner. We just need a crash course on the mold lamp. We have been with Elmer’s since it was under a previous owner (Expert Tech) and we have always had great service and all the gentlemen that have been sent to our home have always been very respectful and very informative about what they do.

Specifically Isaac was the guy that came to my home, so you can always ask for him as well (he’s the only issac) but overall it was great service, probably the best I had so I just had to give them a 5 STAR google review 🙂

They put in new system and I wish I would have never used them. This is just a small sample of their work. Might be a small issue but the workmanship is less than zero!!! It could have been overwhelming but they made it easy to get financing online and they were able to replace it the next day. It was over a 100 degrees in SA so we were so grateful for there diligence and hardwork. I trust them and so does the rest of my family. It could've been such a terrible situation but they made it easy on us.
  • Keith Stasney rated it 1/5: Our AC went down and our regular AC guy was busy. This company had immediate availability, and I can see why. It was just the capacitor, but these guys wanted $350 plus a $90 service fee to swap out a $17 capacitor. Outrageous.

    Worse, the tech had already swapped out the capacitor when he let me know what it was. I told him that I did not feel like paying more than double what it should cost to switch out a capacitor. I asked him not to put the old one back in, just take his out. This guy storms off through my house and swaps the capacitors out putting the old one back in. I'm still paying you $90 for a service fee you could at least do the tiny amount of service you're providing the way I asked.

    TL;DR Bad prices and bad service, shop somewhere else.

The tech I called from the big company cussed in front of me, bad mouthed the home inspector, and charged me around $400 to replace a $20 part that ultimately needed to be replaced a few months later as they didn't diagnose the issue correctly. The guy that runs his own company wasn't friendly at all and when I asked him questions about what he was soldering/brazing he seemed offended and instead of answering my question told me that I was free to inspect his work after he was done (I was interested because I tried to do the repair myself and couldn't, so I wanted to see how the professionals did it). The techs from Comfort Air took the time to explain everything and they were friendly. They also got to my house very quickly. Oh, and the dispatcher was nice as well. After my first two experiences I was legitimately convinced that the HVAC repair industry was a total scam but you guys have restored my faith. Thank you!!!!
