Micheal called me at 8am on Sunday morning and was at my house with a new water heater by 9:15am. Total pro and did excellent work. I am extremely happy with the result. Price is absolutely fair and came in under original quote. Updated us to a number of code items I wasn’t aware of, and did the removal and install in a speedy and clean process. No one wants to find their water heater flooding their garage, but this whole process went very smoothly. I like that the company texts you the name and contact info of the technician (along with a picture) ahead of time. Very professional and high quality. Would definitely recommend in the future.

Needless to say I was not happy. At work (I am a high school teacher) I called Bill Howe plumbing to see if I could get my water heater replaced that afternoon. Well they were able to fit me in. Since I teach until 2:50 pm, I could not accept the 2-5 window. They were able to create a 3-5 window for me (I live very close to the high school at which I teach). I sent in pictures of my water heater which allowed the tech to bring a new H2O heater with him.

    My tech was Darryl Fountain. Darryl is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and skilled. I like to watch professionals work and he was happy to explain all he was doing, answer all questions I had, and work efficiently. Darryl is a tech (plumber) I would absolutely recommend to anyone to work on any plumbing issues. I called Bill Howe because of amazing service and work from years ago, and this was in the back of my mind as I called Bill Howe plumbing that Friday morning. If you can, ask for Darryl. You will not be disappointed.

I didn't realize at the time they did restoration. Feeling overwhelmed by a bare, jackhammered bathroom, I used their restoration services and I am so glad I did. Project Manager Guillermo Castro was so easy to work with and each craftsman that arrived was skilled, friendly, efficient…and they cleaned up after every project: demolition, install electrical/lighting, custom cabinetry, floor restoration and re-plumbing sink/toilet…I can honestly say they turned a miserable plumbing situation into an attractive, enjoyable remodel. Grateful!

    Situation – I had a large tree on my property that caused a root to grow into my neighbors main water line. I immediately called Bill Howe and after explaining the situation, asked if they could fix it before end of week (it was Wednesday). They said yes, as long as I approve the estimate the technician can get to work – that's the only reason I went with them, given the gravity of the situation (neighbor was without water until repair was done, and I was also in escrow on selling my home, and the buyer was trying to schedule home inspection) so there was a strong sense of urgency that I communicated to Bill Howe.

    Earliest they had was Friday morning from 9-12 so I took it. In the meantime, I scheduled a tree removal service to take tree out which cost me $2500 but now both mine and neighbor's main lines were exposed. Needed Bill Howe to repair neighbors and bury lines under ground (to code). Important to note the lines were no more than 8-10 ft of water line exposed. See photo taken after tree was removed.

    Technician didn't show until after 2pm on Friday, well after the window I was given. At this point he said he didn't have time to do work, and he would have to come back the following week if I approved estimates. I explained I'd need the estimate before end of day to review. I also called Bill Howe and explained the situation again, to ensure they understood the sensitivity of the situation and could quickly send over estimates and could guarantee work beginning of the week. He also mention he could at least repair the neighbor's pipe and restore water, so I thought that was done at least (I found out Monday she was still without water because he didn't repair it)!!!

    Never received estimate over the weekend. Called Bill Howe first thing Monday morning and they said they'd reach out to technician and get back to me. By 1pm I never received a call back, or an estimate so I called back and the lady put me on hold to call technician. "He is driving right now but said he would pull over and send it to you immediately." Great! But 1 hour went by and I hadn't received it. Now it's end of day Monday, neighbor had been without water for nearly 11 days, my buyer had an inspection scheduled but could not complete because the water was shut off, and the pipes weren't repaired, and I still have not received even an estimate after countless calls to the company and no action.

    At this point I called another company and before the end of the day (Monday), he had gone to my property and provided an estimate and guaranteed work the next day.

    Of course I explained this via text to Bill Howe and they had an estimate over to me shortly after (imagine that)… But the estimate came in at $3600 just to trench one main water line (neighbor was paying for her own water line to be repaired and trenched so that wasn't included). In the estimate the technician noted roots were in the ground from the tree I had removed, but I confirmed with the tree removal company that they had dug everything out (I stopped by when they were working and they had multiple men and heavy equipment and they clearly removed everything).

    I had another small job for Bill Howe to repair a minor leak in my crawl space under the home, but that also came in at $1800 (no trenching, just replacing exposed pipe). So after all of this, they want me to pay them $5000 for these two small/minor jobs? Out of their minds. And was the technician lying about the roots just to inflate the estimate? Seems like it.

    Given Bill Howe's lack of urgency and action on the very sensitive matters (a house without water and a pending sale which could fall through at any moment due to delays), and the over-inflated estimates, I will not be doing any more business with this company. Save your money – find a smaller business, smaller prices, and better response.

The customer service people were friendly, knowledgeable and great follow up. The service technicians were A+! Jorge and Oscar were very professional and cleared my drain quickly. I thought I only needed a drain cleared (which they did quickly) but discovered a hole in the pipe so they called the office and within less than 2 hours a service repair tech was at my door. Austin (service tech) showed me what needed to be done and walked me through the process. I immediately had trust in him and asked if not only could he fix the leak but also replace the faucet and replace my toilet! He was able to quickly give me a quote and I approved it. The next day Austin did all the repairs and installations and everything is working great! I highly recommend this company, the employees are a level above!

All are working properly and your employee Donny was knowledgeable and cheerful. The concern I have are the water line connections on top of water heater. Photo attached shows shows a sharp bend in water line I thought was crimped. Donny assured me it would not be a problem and we checked when activated. I was stilled bothered today and so I wanted to show you what it looks like. It seems more line was used than necessary and so it's the workmanship thinking this could have been made more cleaner using less line. I paid a handsome price and thought the connections could have been better.
    I also would like to know are permits required when installing water heaters? In some cases they are but not sure of CA rules.

When Mike, the other installer arrived, they coordinated their work the get the job done. Another fellow arrived later to run electrical lines in the attic. When unexpected issue arose, Mike brought it to my attention and with a sheet of plywood and a 2×4 that I had on hand, they were able to make a superb repair. These guys worked 10 hours on a very hot day except for a lunch break. At the end of the day, Kareem reviewed my system’s features with me. He even took time to answer a few of my 6-year old’s questions about what they were doing.
    I have worked construction and the effort and professionalism these guys put forward was exemplary. These days it is refreshing to learn of and observe such professionalism. They represented Guthrie & Sons very well. I am pleased that I choose them for my A/C installation. Now if only I could find a plumber and an electrician who are as adept in their field.

Alerik K., Christian, and Jair M. We’re the picture of efficiency. They arrived the minute they said that they would. They bent over backwards to make sure that my experience with my installation was perfect. These men were polite, patient, and efficient.
    What impressed me most was their willingness to go beyond what was simply required of them. No issue was skipped with their attention to detail. They provided a written warranty of 10 year for parts and 1 year for labor, contract good until August 2022. My A/C until quit working last week (September 13, 2021) called and scheduled a diagnostic for a week later. When they showed up they informed us the cost for the repair would be over $800 for a bad Capacitor that cost $14.95 at Amazon and that our A/C unit was out of warranty due to that it wasn’t previously serviced. I asked them for a copy in the contract where it clearly lists that the A/C needs to be serviced regularly which they could not provide. We kept all original purchase receipts and paperwork from the first day we hired them for the service, looked and searched for any written instructions on how to keep up with A/C system and found none. We are very upset Guthrie and Sons Heating and A/C clearly aren’t the right company to do business with. We feel our system was never in any way protected as Guthrie and Sons heating and A/C failed to honor any written warranty. I hope anyone searching for a A/C company reads my story and hope our situation help you determine your decision to use them. I’m not a happy customer and would never recommend them for any service.

    BTW I am a certified mechanic and work on automotive A/C units. They are no instructions to routinely service to A/C or heating systems on any vehicles, because they’re just isn’t. Home A/C units are built very similar to automotive they do mot require any service unless they fail or Freon leaks out. Just like your fridge or A/C wall unit. They could not provide of the routine services for home A/C unit required because there just isn't any. They are a bunch of crooks and would not recommend anyone use them.

    Our technician Majid, was early, polite, professional, smart and most importantly didn't try to sell me on a new AC system, which some guys with white gloves had attempted to do, when I had them provide their annual Tune Up. He showed me why we needed he part he installed, which was reasonably priced. They did such a good job I signed up for the two times a year service plan. I've spent close to 40 years in the residential real estate business, and finding a contractor I can refer to my friends and clients is not easy.

MYbad for not remembering all the names of the Guys that put in this Monster System we have. Our House is complicated, and the job took 6 days, Mon thru Sat. The Lennox Units are top quality, and so Super Efficient that when Juan comes to do the check, the Start up Amps don't register until he resets his checking tool thingy. Ours registers at 2, normal or more non-efficient units measure at 120. (This is what I learned today, and I am not versed on the technical name). Ours has a wifi thermostat, that I could not get to work so gave up. Today Juan and I got both units up to snuff. Awesome. Pic is the week of the install.

Anthony our rep was amazing from beginning to end, very patient, honest and accommodating. He was always on time and followed through on his promises. The installers were on time, polite, efficient and clean. Compared to other companies I found Carini to be on the lower end of the cost scale, but their materials, service and support are on the high end!

Javier was the tech that came by and he was excellent, start to finish. He was here on time, walked me through everything while he diagnosed the problem and was all around a great person. He was honest, competent and professional. He explained to me the parts that failed, the parts that were still working and the replacement parts he was going to install to fix the problem. Technician arrived, immediately asked to use my restroom because "it had been a long drive." Okay… there are multiple businesses where you could have stopped no more than a block or two from here. Unprofessional, but I could have lived with that.

Explain the issue I'm having with my AC in my mobile home and show him where the unit is located. I leave him to start inspecting. Less than 5 minutes later, he comes back to my front door and tells me that he has good news (the AC unit works fine) and bad news (the entire duct system in my home will need to be replaced at a cost of $4,700). I ask him to explain how the ductwork is damaged and he just says that it is (no further explanation). I ask him if he can check for an obstruction of some sort and he says he cannot – replacing all of it is the only option. He told me that an invoice for the inspection would be emailed to me along with an estimate and left.

He never went underneath my mobile home to inspect the ductwork. He did not look at anything other than my furnace and possibly the outside AC unit. He never interacted with the ducts in any way.

I am paying $69 for less than 5 minutes of work.. and I cannot be certain he actually did anything at all.

Do not let the perfect Google reviews fool you. Avoid this company at all costs.

He did and couldn't find any issues, nor did the system make any noises. I will keep an eye and an ear on the system, but will make sure Vlad is the technician that comes for service! He was very honest, very helpful and trustworthy. He also showed me how to install my new thermostat myself!

They were very responsive when I asked for a quote and came out the next day. Steve, the Operations, Manager, was the one that came to inspect our unit and provide the quote. He was timely, knowledgeable and spent extra time to educate us on what needed fixing (our duct was bent which restricted airflow) along with providing a second alternative to the existing size unit we had. That alternative was a slightly smaller unit, which was fine for our square footage, but offered a 10-year warranty on parts rather than 18 months for the existing size. Not to mention they were cheaper than the competitor.

Fast forward a day (Saturday during Labor Day weekend), and our AC unit went out! Our condo skyrocketed to 88+ degrees. We asked if someone could come out and complete a ‘temporary’ fix until we got a new unit. Steve immediately called us back and was very honest and indicated that no one would be able to complete a temporary fix which saved us the cost of a weekend repair. We immediately decided to go with Progressive for Steve’s honesty, professionalism and prompt responses. We were scheduled for Sept 15th but asked if they could bump us up sooner if anyone canceled. Low and behold, Sept 12th Steve called at 8:30 am to indicate they could come that day. That was a huge relief. Two workers were here and did a great job.

We HIGHLY recommend Progressive and will be recommending them to our neighbors when they need any maintenance, new quote, etc. regarding heating or AC! If we could give more than 5 stars we would!!

He was very professional and personable and took the time to explain what was needed to repair it. The repairs were made in about an hour and he took the time to explain to my wife how to operate the thermostat and stayed until he was sure the AC was working perfectly. They recommended a few services system flush and coil cleaning totaling around $700 or replace the whole unit. Their initial quote for replacement the units guts, as they call them, was $14K which is outrages as I found out from the manufacturer equipment cost is $3995 + tax & shipping. 5 Diamond than lowered their quote to $10K installed which would mean their install labor cost would still be over $5K for a few hours to install a slide in chassis. I unfortunately purchased the services they recommended which did not fix my issue. Why would I trust them with a new install? Let's just say, I will not be recommending 5 Diamond to anyone I know. 👎
