Patrick Murphy rated it 4/5: Quality was outstanding. Very easy to use. Only problem I had was the touch up was too dark. It worked for the tow hook cover I painted, but I would not use it on the body because it would be too noticeable.

  • Chad Dykgraaf rated it 5/5: I purchased an aerosol can and 2k clear coat to repair a deep scratch on a quarter panel. Paint match was dead on and you cannot see the blend. Clear coat was simple to use and was more than enough to cover the entire quarter panel. Finish matches the factory orange peel.
  • Tony Gallo rated it 5/5: Curbed the lower portion of my front quarter panel. Have used Microfinish products in the past for minor "road ding" touch-ups on all three of my cars. Their products and color matches have always been great. The damage I needed to repair this time, however, required the use of spray paint based on the size of the area needing to be repaired.

Not having any prior experience, I figured for $75 I'd give it a try in an effort to safe some serious money going to a body shop. I was especially concerned about doing this myself as my car requires a tri-coat paint. Suffice to say, I'm amazed at the outcome! Can't see any difference between the area I painted and the rest of my car. Assume it will only get better once I apply some wax after waiting 30 days for the paint to cure.

Yes, I took my time and was careful to apply multiple light coats, but I have no doubt the quality of the Microfinish products had a lot to do with the end result I achieved. By the way…….spending $3.95 for the spray can trigger was a no brainer!

My only suggestion, would be to provide more "tutorial" information on their website to talk a novice through the process.

Bottom line….if I can do this without any prior experience anyone can!

  • Jim Hamrick rated it 5/5: Once I determined the paint code for my truck, it was so easy to match it with what was listed. I needed just a little to touch up after getting rid of a few rust spots on my rear fenders. I’ve never done body work so I paid special attention to the directions given. Long story short – it matched perfectly.
  • Bob McElfresh rated it 4/5: The company didn't do the painting itself, but provided paint and clear coat in rattle cans to match the color of the car. The color match was excellent (San Marino red for a 2009 Honda Accord) and, by carefully following the directions, provided what seems to be a very good finish. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is because it took almost a month between placing the order and receiving the cans. The photo shows a gap between the cap and the mirror frame, but that was due to a slightly defective clip on the cap, and is not the fault of the paint. The gap was fixed after this photo was taken.
  • Patrick Murphy rated it 4/5: Quality was outstanding. Very easy to use. Only problem I had was the touch up was too dark. It worked for the tow hook cover I painted, but I would not use it on the body because it would be too noticeable.

Beth Zabel rated it 5/5: I would HIGHLY recommend Five Star Painting! From the very initial estimate, they have been incredibly professional, helpful, and easy to work with. Zachary and Kelley make a great team and had a lot of great color/design recommendations. And Jordan and Eric ran a great crew – they were very efficient and had a great eye for detail. I felt very comfortable and confident throughout the entire process that the job would be done well and professionally. All of my neighbors have commented how beautiful my house looks now too! • Sarah Fury rated it 5/5: Five star painting was professional from the get go. They were very responsive and able to meet me the next day after my inquiry. Once we settled on the scope and paint, they were able to start within a week which was amazing! After the initial quote, I did not have to lift a finger. They picked up all supplies and paint and got to work! The crew were very professional and respectful. Their manager was communicative and efficient. From quote to finish, it took 2 weeks and one check. An amazing and effortless process.
  • Kathleen Sullivan rated it 5/5: I am so glad I found Five Star Painting and called them for my door painting job and weatherboard repair! They have a solid process from estimate to inspection at the end of the job and are great at communicating every step of the way. My only regret is not finding them sooner. I will use Five Star every time I am in need of painting work and minor exterior repair, from here on out. Thank you Axel, Nicole, Mike, and the rest of the team!
  • Erick Lewis rated it 3/5: While we’re happy with the final results… the experience was less that ideal and fairly disruptive. We found ourselves regularly having to point out inconsistencies in the work. Our chicken coop was disassembled and moved without our permission after we repeatedly asked if its location/ position was ok. We could’ve moved it ourselves had they asked as we were home during the entire process. Our chickens were separated from their water in the process. They also left garbage on our property, including a fast food bag that our dog got into. We were asked to provide drinks and snacks and some of our personal equipment was used (ended up with paint all over our ladder). We were doing multiple projects at once and the painting crew placed there belongings on fence posts before concrete was dry and we had to extend our fence project by a day as we had to reset several of the posts. We felt a general lack of respect for our home and belongings. While we understand that most home improvement projects can feel disruptive to daily life, we couldn’t wait to have this project completed and the crew gone.
  • beau saccoccia rated it 3/5: The porch and the railing look good, but the team overlooked details and did not account for a number of small mistakes. The initial estimate was for $1500 to power wash the front of the house, repaint the porch, repaint the porch railing and paint the front gate. A day later, the estimate increased by $500 to $2000 for additional porch sanding and scraping. At the end of the job, I asked the foreman about the additional sanding/scraping. It didn’t seem like they’d scraped or sanded the porch because I could see the outlines of old paint on the porch. The foreman said they hadn’t needed to sand or scrape, but they still charged me that $500. Also, I had to touch up some of black paint on the railing. They over-sprayed black railing paint onto my trees, my grass and my porch, and they didn’t do everything they said they’d do. It seemed like the spray was done in a hurry. The initial bid was to power wash the front porch and the front of the house. They did not power wash the front of the house, and they only refunded a small amount of the money. They changed my front door seal, but it was installed incorrectly. I asked the foreman about the mistake. He told me that I could adjust it myself, so then I re-did part of the work I’d paid him to do. I do not mind paying for excellent work. This work cost a premium, and the porch and railing were nice, but the details were lacking. Each time they added work, they charged a lot. They didn’t account for their mistakes. I had to clean up after them and fix some mistakes. I would not recommend working with them in the future.

susan nussbaum rated it 5/5: The artist's brother, Philip, works there and is so patient and helpful. I wanted to get mute prints and he helped me reach a decision by helping me narrow the field verses "This is what you should buy" He was a great help.

I actually just went to look but I couldn't help myself. I bought one for a friend but they are so beautiful I could give it!

Tracy is going in a different direction but I do prefer his earlier work. Even if you aren't in the market, stop by and check it out.

Robert Hicks rated it 5/5: They painted outside of house, including the brick, siding, doors, and the gutters. It looks very, very good and even spread of the paint. Kevin was very easy to work with, was able to come out for measurements and a quote quickly and get us scheduled within a few weeks. His team was very professional and did a great job with all the repairs and painting. When there was a communication mix-up, Kevin reached out to us and fixed the issue quickly and got our job back on track. We're very happy with the results and would hire again in the future.
  • mary lois jones rated it 5/5: Certapro Painters did an outstanding job on the exterior of my home. My house looks amazing and I am very pleased! I made a good decision when I decided to use them. From start to finish Mr. Howard (Franchise Owner) was very responsive and made himself available whenever I called. When I decided to make a change on the paint he did not hesitate to accommodate me on that. The men that painted took their time, payed close attention to detail and did a very nice job. Price was very fair, they used high end Sherwin Williams paint. Friends and neighbors have stopped by to say how much they loved the color and what a great job CertaPro did. Thanks CertaPro I highly recommend you to everyone who needs painting work.

I have been quote shopping for a while however CertaPro gave me reasonable price compared to all other quotes. Also their contract was detailed from preparation of the site to Painting completion. Hence I was comfortable to move ahead with their services. Also two days of actual project – crew arrived on time. They were professional and polite. Also they did quality work with quality product as we requested. I appreciate their services and recommend them to more locals around New Orleans and suburbs.

  • Shannon Torrens rated it 5/5: A few weeks ago, someone hit my car while it was parked outside of my house, leaving behind a sizeable dent over the driver's side wheel. While the headlight was unaffected, the rubber shielding had been pushed down and rubbed against the tire with every bump and dip in the road. I have an important trip coming up, and was terrified that of popping a tire on I10.
The guys at A Vargas had me come in right away to take a look at it. Alex pulled the fender back into shape with his hands, pushed the rubber shielding back into place, and then went over everything with me so that I could see for myself that the damage was superficial and the wheel undamaged. He was honest about what would have to be done to fix the cosmetic damage, but assured me it was road safe. When I asked him what I owed him, he said "Nothing, just an honest review".
A Vargas has earned itself a new customer.
  • Michael McConnell rated it 5/5: Great experience. I was able to bring my car in just a few days after my free estimate was completed. The repairs were finished within two days and my front bumper looks brand new.
  • Tim C rated it 5/5: Vargas body shop is top tier in my opinion. Beautiful paint work and super honest. I’ve been knowing them over 25 years and he’s “one of the good guys”.
  • Amin Sabzehzar rated it 5/5: Couple of weeks ago I took my car to get an estimate for a deep dent caused by a hit and run. Although I ended up not fixing my car, I liked their professionalism and prompt inspection of my car. Thanks 🙏

  • Yasmine McGehee rated it 3/5: The atmosphere was beautiful for my cousin's party. And the portrait she chose was nice. However, the slender build paint instructor urged me to paint huge yellow lines down the center of mine which caused the painting to look like a huge error as we proceeded. It took a long time to correct what was an unnecessary error. Bad directions 😳

Edward Adams rated it 5/5: Darrell Williams and his team really understand their product and customer needs. They provide outstanding service and advice in a friendly, congenial environment. I've been using FC paint in both my home and rental property since Will opened the store and have been thoroughly satisfied. FC paint is durable, spreads well and affordable. Great product and store with a knowledgeable, helpful staff.

  • Barry K rated it 5/5: I highly recommend this store for its quality of both customer service and paint. Multiple times I have walked in with a color in mind and when I couldn't find quite what I was looking for in the paint strips on display, someone was always willing to walk through the rather tedious task of incrementally adding tint to a can of paint while they attempted to create the color I was looking for. They have also happily matched paint from other stores that I used for old projects.
The Farrell-Calhoun paint is noticeably better than Lowes paint when it comes to VOC/odors after putting it on the wall. I've always been happy with it in terms of adhesion and it is actually more affordable than Helm's lowest grade of paint the last time I went there.
It might be tempting to get all your supplies from a big box store and one-stop-shop but I will always be getting my paint and paint supplies from these guys.

  • DJ McKenna rated it 5/5: Darrell and Eric were both extremely patient and helpful assisting my son and I — while we searched for the perfect color for our house exterior. Trial mixes, computer-matching colors for trim, etc. They took the time to let us hone in on the perfect shades for each element. House turned out great and they are a big reason why. Can't say enough about how pleasant and welcoming this store is. LOVE the historic paint collection colors.
  • Mariah Palmer rated it 5/5: I am Ethel Palmer and I highly recommend Farrell Calhoun Paint store on 2900 Elysian Field Ave. Mr. Darrell Williams is very knowledge of the paint and very helpful and patience with me in picking the right paint. I love that they deliver the paint and keep your paint color on file. Mr Darrell Williams and his team have excellent customer service they really make you feel special and important. I will recommend this store to all my friends and family.
  • TRUEstories PRODUCTIONS rated it 5/5: I used to get my paint from Lowes, until I got a second batch of what should've been the same color, but was wildly different from the first color. The person behind the counter said there was nothing that he could do, because the computer had dictated the pigment mix.

Now I buy my paint exclusively from Farrell-Calhoun, where these guys (especially the Manager Darrell) know what they are doing and produce consistent results every time.

  • RACHEL HAGSTETTE rated it 5/5: Touch of Color Nola painted our kitchen cabinets. They did a phenomenal job. They were meticulous with preparing the cabinets for paint, painting them, and putting everything back together once the cabinets were painted. They even fixed some things that weren’t correct with the initial installation of the cabinets. I am beyond impressed with their work and feel like my cabinets look brand new now! Thank you for you hard work and attention to details!
  • Heather Conklin rated it 5/5: Jack and his amazing wife and crew made our kitchen look brand new! We live in a 150 year old house and we have a lot of original and very old parts. We had some renovations done and a few new cabinets put in. We needed the whole kitchen to match. They made everything look fabulous! We couldn’t be more pleased! Bonus- they are some of the nicest people we’ve ever met.
  • Nick Payne rated it 5/5: You cannot find anyone better than Jack and his team at Touch of Color. From communication to responsiveness, quality, and finishing touches—they did an outstanding job.

We had every cabinet in our house painted and they knocked it out in a matter of days with custom colors and new hardware. My family is so, so happy with the results, it’s almost like being in a brand new kitchen/laundry/bathroom every time we see it.

If you want to transform your house and do it right, these are your guys.

  • Katherine Hannan rated it 5/5: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jack and his wife! They did an absolutely beautiful job with our cabinets. Years of toddler abuse had rendered my cabinets in horrible shape, but now they literally look brand new out of the factory. Also very responsive and professional. 10/10 recommend them!!!!

  • Michael Lacey rated it 5/5: Adam Alan Painting is by far one of the best contractors I have dealt with in New Orleans. Their quality of work is truly exceptional and their prices were far better than the 3 other painting companies that I got quotes from. Ray is excellent to work with, picks up his phone every time you call him, and is incredibly accommodating to any request. I didn't pay a dime until the job was completed and was 100% satisfied. If you are looking to have your house painted, don't waste time getting quotes from other painters. Ray will provide better service and price than anyone else.
  • shukri kannish rated it 5/5: We were extremely pleased and happy with our whole experience with Adam Alan and there crew they were exceptional and polite. Friendly people courteous. Hard working consummate professional. The quality of the work was great and they paid attention to detail. I would highly recommend them and I will hire them again for my next project
  • Matthew Madden rated it 5/5: I used Adam Alan do do exterior caulking and painting. Ray was very responsive to questions that I had about the scope of work and we iterated a couple of times on it. He also pointed out particular problem areas on the house without me realizing they were potential issues. Christian did the actual painting and he very thorough. There were a couple areas that needed touched up afterward and without question Christian took care of them. The house looks awesome, and I would absolutely use them again. In fact I already recommended Adam Alan to a friend.
  • Ariel A rated it 5/5: I hired Adam Alan for an exterior paint job. Ray was very friendly and responsive from start to finish. He was clear about the scope of work, answered all my questions, and was patient while I chose new paint colors. The painter, Christian, was equally friendly and did a good job. Ray and Christian were quick about performing a few touch ups afterward. The house looks great.
