lissa healy rated it 4/5: Update: They reached out to me on Monday, just as they said they would, and have helped figure out a way to refund the cleanings I wasn't aware I was paying for, despite the length of time that had passed. I appreciate their creative problem solving, and their responsiveness. I've changed my rating to reflect this. Minus one star because we couldn't figure out why my cleaning got changed originally. But had I checked more diligently and followed up more quickly it would have been easier for everyone.
Original review: 2 stars for ease of booking and the fact that the cleaners always arrived within the time they said they would, with no issues.

My issue is that I was unknowingly paying for deep cleaning for months, when I only wanted basic cleaning, and was in fact forgiving some cleaning oversights (dirty/sticky floors mostly) due to the fact that I had emailed them specifically saying I wanted to switch to a basic cleaning ongoing, and they had confirmed they would do so. When I raised the issue to them they asked to see pictures of the issues, but did nothing to address the rest of it.

I cannot see the difference between the deep clean vs. basic clean on their website, so maybe my standards are different from what they commit to. But the deep clean was very expensive for very inconsistent quality.

They were able to source the exact same pump and came well prepared to do the installation. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of the work from the first person to answer the phone, to the owner, to the person that woke up at 4 am to make the drive and do the installation.
First rated it 5/5: I've been using The Pool Doctor (TPD) for 4 years. TPD provides me with bi-weekly water treatment service. There have been several TPD employees over the years who have come to my home to perform the bi-weekly water treatment service. All of the servicers were professional and polite in their communication, dress and service. Most if not all of the bi-weekly services have offered-up recommendations to keep my pool and equipment in optimal working condition.
On occasion, I need TPD to troubleshoot/repair faulty/broken equipment related to my filtration system. 95% of the time when I call TPD with an issue, TPD sends a tech to inspect/repair the issue with-in 48 hours.

All-in-all TPD is running a solid and trustworthy service of which I am glad to use and willing to refer to others.

I tried 4 different pool cover companies before I found Poolsafe. I was pleased to find Poolsafe so responsive. They came out to the house within days of my call, and immediately ordered the new pool cover. The new pool cover arrived in a few weeks and was installed in about 2 hours. The entire process from start to finish was so much faster than I expected. The two installers who worked on the project were very professional and left the area cleaner than when they started. They wore shoe covers inside, as requested, and made it work when we asked them to use the rear stairs instead of the front entrance. They did exterior windows only – in the case of the glass walls on the exterior balcony, was interpreted as only the outward-facing side of the glass, which was a bit frustrating. The skylights weren't on the initial order but they were very accommodating and added them for us on-site.
They did a fine job, and where we pointed out residual sap or streaks, they re-did the entire window to ensure it was clean. They even re-did some that ended up being an issue with the window. There was one window that was difficult to reach and he tried from inside and outside the building – I appreciated the time and effort he spent on this, but would have preferred it if he'd come to us and said that it was simply too difficult to clean, instead of leaving it streaked without saying anything about it.
When he was done I noticed two windows that hadn't been cleaned at all because there were screens in the way. One of them had left without reminding us to remove the screens and they would have gone untouched if we hadn't noticed.
We received a call from their office questioning why the cleaner needed more time and why he was re-doing some windows.

Pros: Decent value, hard workers who will put in the additional time/effort if asked
Cons: Communication could be better; check the work before they leave
Allen Beaney rated it 1/5: I was very sick on July 18, 2022 when the cleaning people came and I was to inspect the work I needed and when I started feeling better I realized they had done the worst cleaning I've ever had done and I have used a service once being disabled I could have done a I could have done a better job if light cleaning instead of deep cleaning that was what was needed and when I complained I was shut down because I was told I waited to long because of being sick.
Worst cleaning experience ever do not use them.

They clogged my pool and simply left which ended up costing me $6300. AVOID AT ALL COST. He wouldn’t give me his name again but I got his truck number when he was driving off. Truck Lic#1075694

I switched to The Pool Gal, who is local, less money and has been taking care of my neighbor, a surgeon's, pool for years. Pool Gal found black mold, and a total lack of chemicals. When I called the owner of Marin Pool, first he suggested Pool Gal lied, then that I should have known.

tammy7545 rated it 1/5: Unfortunately I have not been satisfied with Herb’s Pool Service. While I find the office staff very professional and polite, I can not say the same for the service tech’s. I have a hot tub that we use maybe a couple of times a year. I pay for a weekly service which is required despite the lack of use. When my daughters finally want to use the hot tub, we open the cover to find the water about 6 inches below standard, rings and lots of dirt and film around the edges and the water temp at 70%. When I called and asked for them to send a supervisor to see the condition, he was extremely defensive and made excuses, despite my calm demeanor. I then asked him if he was going to proceed with the weekly maintenance since he was there and he informed me that the service was done that morning…really, that morning! He told me that the side cleaning was not part of the service (although this is part of the contracted services), that they are not responsible for adding water (he did say they should leave me a note, which has never happened once in over a year) and then he had no excuse for the dirt at the bottoms despite the fact that it was supposedly cleaned that morning and the cover was on.

There is no doubt that I have overpaid for a service that I was not getting. When I did see the guy here working on the hot tub, it was usually on the wrong day and he was only here for a brief couple of minutes. We did not use or check on the work done. The defensive nature and excuses made by the supposed supervisor was the last straw for me to cancel my services immediately.

vince lattanzio rated it 1/5: Worst experience to date I have ever had. System sold to me has not worked since it was installed Took months of waiting . Then service has been delayed. Cheap lousy system that Dow t work for more than a day . Was told it would work like my lad system m but it is a bad system doesn’t heat and keys are no working. . I was told the kids took it over and it has gone downhill asked yo talk to an owner but never get anyone. They aren’t working today. ?

I used Pool Pros with a previous property as well, I inherited them on this property at takeover and not much has changed from what I remembered in using them. Nobody responds to emails unless you push them hard. All I ask is professional service and communication. On the plus, the techs have always been very nice. It's the office team that needs a serious overhaul, it can be a week or more before anyone responds, if they respond at all. You can check and reply to emails anywhere, so there really isn't any excuse for the poor communication. I guess you can't have it all.

Why ?
1. Order their service last June to do a cloudy pool cleaning.
Pay $599 upfront upon their 1st day at site, that's a bad, bad mistake to pay in full upfront.
Then after that, they just disappeared. Don't answer email or call after days and weeks.
Communication is almost nonexistent. Even you push them hard and luckily someone returned your call but still fail to show up as they confirmed.
Then weeks later, one new guy suddenly show up at your backyard without prior notice, being there for 5 minutes then disappear again with job half done.
Such nightmare repeat over & over again for 2+ months until they finally, barely completed the pool cleaning, which should be done within a week. Not to mention the painful hassle involved.
2. Apr/2022, give them another chance for pool replaster service. Unfortunately the same poor communication & service happened again. I didn't even bother to do business with them. All I ask is professional service and communication.
The office team that really needs a serious overhaul. You're not going to get any referral business with the way you treat your customers.
