Mike Wacker rated it 2/5: Expensive!!! First the good: I really appreciated the prompt response and professionalism of the master plumber who came to my home to repair a busted pipe. I'd highly recommend him as a person and the work he did.

Now my objection: He said the work was complicated and gave me a bid for replacing the broken pipe at $1200. I accepted the bid since I would have no water in the house until it was fixed and it was already the afternoon. In the end, it took him an hour and 15 minutes to do the job. I was shocked that the cost could be so high for a little more than an hour's work. He said the cost of the job is standard pricing and is not set on the amount of time it took. It would have cost the same if it took him 4 hours instead of 1. He said that any job that involves copper stars at $800. Wow. I wish that I'd been willing to go a night without water and call someone else to do the job. To be clear, I really liked the plumber. Great guy. But I think Roto-rooter's prices are too high if their master plumbers are bringing in $1000/hour.

Even pointed out somethings that the previous toilet installer missed doing.
    Had all the right gear.
Very efficient in getting the job done.
    Would highly recommend!!!
Oh and the gentleman who answered my call was pretty nice, too.
  • Brenda EB rated it 5/5: Jeffrey arrived quickly, exactly when I was told he would, he wore a mask while he was here, and he diagnosed my floor drain clog accurately. He was very skilled! Everything about the service went smoothly-Jeffrey provided a price quote and cleared the drain within about 30 minutes! He was professional and he cleaned up afterwards. I am completely satisfied with his work! He also provided me with a coupon upon request! I honestly have not had a better experience with a technician previously! Before he left, he gave me helpful advice and directions on how to maintain my drain lines in the future. In all honesty, in the unfortunate event that my main drain becomes clogged in the future, I will absolutely call them again, and I will be recommending them to my friends, relatives and neighbors!
  • chasing_highs rated it 5/5: Amazing service. I was able to schedule online and got a text before they showed up. My service tech was very friendly and listen to my issues. We discussed the cost upfront before stating the work. I let him do his thing and before you know it he was as done and testing to make sure it drains. The sound of water rushing down the drain never never made me happier. I was super pleased with the service and how helpful the service tech was. I’ve used them in the past and will continue to use as I have not had a bad experience yet.

  • Killian Bixby rated it 1/5: This place gets 1 star for the absolute abomination of an estimate. The job was to connect the already installed garbage disposal to the reaming plumbing after I installed a new sink. The plumber looked under the sink for 30 secs and came up with cost of $731 for labor and parts will be extra so it will come out to about $800 total. The plumber was confused that I thought the price was to high and mentioned it would take him 2 hours to finish the job and he was giving me a $25 discount for having the garbage disposal already installed. So if you're comfortable paying $365.50 an hour Rooter Router is the place for you, but in my case I sent him packing and reluctantly payed the $69 estimate fee.

Here is a photo of the job I needed done. I'm pretty sure any plumber would find this to be one of the easiest jobs they have ever had to do, and the only way to justify an $800 price tag is if the new pipes were lined with gold.

Chrissy Tauber rated it 5/5: I made of the HUGE mistake of dumping a big batch of chicken soup down my garbage disposal on a Saturday afternoon. As soon I I did this I knew there was a problem. I tried to handle the clog myself, but could get the snake that I had deep enough, so knew it was time to call in the professionals. I search the Internet for a plumbing company who could come out and take care of the issue over the weekend without ASTRONOMICAL emergency fees. This is when I found Discount Plumbers. They advertised clearing the drain for $94 as well as a $75 service charge. I was a little apprehensive on what the additional fine print might be, but thought I’d give them a call. I reached out at 9:30 on a Saturday night and received a call on Sunday morning from William that he had one more appointment available for Sunday afternoon. I confirmed the cost and booked the appointment. Unfortunately, I received a call around 12:30 stating that they had an emergency come up and kindly asked if they could reschedule for Monday morning. I told them I understand emergencies and that wouldn’t be a problem.
Monday morning I received a call from Sage stating that he would be here by 8:20. He was right on time. We review the issue with the clogged drain and reviewed the pricing. He did indicate that if it took longer than an hour, he would need to charge an hourly rate of around $90 (can’t remember the exact amount). Sage did state that it should only take him about 45 minutes.
Off he went to take care of the mistake I will never make again. 30-35 minutes later he was done snaking the clog, put the plumbing back together and the water was draining perfectly!
Sage was very professional, bright and super friendly!
I would recommend Discount Plumbing to anyone! They were FANTASTIC to work with!

An hour after he arrived, the drain was clear and we were good to go. This is the second time I've used Discount Plumbers for this service and they have been consistently great about it. I will definitely reach out to them even I'm ready for a more permanent solution to our drain roots problem.

  • Damon Sterzinger rated it 4/5: Good service. My service tech was very nice and professional. Let me know what was going on during the procedure and easy to talk to. Only problem I have is that is a bit of a bait and switch. Says $94 per drain but there was a $75 fee for something. Didn’t argue just wanted it done so was $169. They were here within 2 hrs of initial phone call and was happy enough not to inquire about the fee. The service tech was very pleasant and no point in ruining someone’s day for something they can’t control so I let it go. Overall satisfied.
  • Katie Gundle rated it 2/5: Overall, felt like a bait and switch with the $94 drain clearing “deal” add a $75 service fee and extra $94 per hour past the first hour. They took 4 hours and we thought they had fixed the problem. We did major cleaning once the tech left because we didn’t want to be charged the hourly rate and sewage had sprayed and leaked everywhere. Not only are we backed up again 30 days later, but it is coming through the sewage clear out pipe that was “sealed”. Now we are leaking sewage there, and it’s coming up all the drains. Called to see if there is a “guarantee” of any work done considering this was never an issue in the 8 months we lived here and now it’s happened twice. Was told no, and the technician said he believed it was caused by grease because his line spun so fast it snapped. He repaired the line and kept going. He was a nice guy and called superiors for help when he was stumped. I called discount plumber back and they said his report said it was a possible root problem. That is hard for me to believe as I asked the tech 3+ times and not once did he suggest roots may be the issue. Included photos of the mess we were left to clean and bleach. Two stars only due to the kindness of the tech.
  • James Petersen rated it 1/5: Had a drain clog that could not be accessed to run clean-out. 4 feet of metal pipe was removed and replaced with pvc pipe with clean-out. Line was then cleared. In addition to the base charge of $169 for drain clear and 50 feet clean-out, the placement of 4 feet of pvc with clean-out access cost an additional $300, for a total of $469. A non-discount plumbing company has stated this should not have been in excess of $250. Total job was accomplished within one hour, on-site.

Response from owner indicates can't compete with unlicensed handyman or small plumbing companies. The lower amount indicated was from very reputable plumbing company which I should have used and will use next time I have a need. Picture added.

  • Ethan Fie rated it 5/5: I had a pipe burst on the Friday before the 4th of July weekend. I couldn't find anyone that had availability and gave Gopher Sewer a try. Great decision. Pedro came out in just a couple hours and got everything fixed, walked me through the process I would need to file with my insurance, and pointed out some other issues from previous plumbing work that would need to be fixed in order to avoid similar issues down the road.

While he was here I mentioned another issue I was having and he was able to take a quick look despite it being a holiday weekend, and identify the issue and set up a time to come back and get it fixed.

    All around great experience.

  • Austin Hendrickson rated it 5/5: Awesome experience with Joe at Gopher Sewer and Drain. I had a free sewer line inspection with one of the bigger companies in the Twin Cities and they tried selling me a bill of goods and tried quoting me repairs in the range of $8 – $20k. I scheduled Gopher for a cleaning and a second opinion and they let me know that my line was still in good shape and did not need to be cleaned, let alone replaced. Would definitely recommend Gopher and will be using them for any drain repairs in the future!
  • Keith Kieffer rated it 5/5: When my sewer backed up, they arrived shortly after and resolved the issue well enough until a larger team with much more equipment could properly go after the tree roots in the pipe. They communicated very well before, during, and emailed the receipt after a job well done. They gave tips and explained in detail what the situation was, showed me the camera in real time what the inside of the pipes looked like, explained what needed to happen, and demonstrated how their equipment is clearing out the problem rust and problem roots. I have zero concerns and would be happy to call them again should help be needed.
  • Robert Barnhart rated it 5/5: Called a plumber we'd previously used on a Friday afternoon with blocked drain. We were told they'd be there Monday afternoon. Like that works when your laundry room has two inches of water on the floor. Called Gopher and they said 4 p.m. which was about three hours. Called me at 2:30 p.m. and said they were on their way. Very professional, respectful of my home, and courteous. Problem fixed in about half an hour. Double checked to make sure all was working. Gopher, you are now my go to plumber. UPDATE: After two years, drain is blocked again, on a Sunday of course. Called Gopher again and their response time was exceptional. As I expected it was tree roots. Tech had everything cleaned out and working in about half hour. Gopher is still my go to plumber.

Jessica Haataja rated it 5/5: 2022- This Company is the best! I own an old house with poor drain plumbing. 3 Adult Girls with long hair. We call at least once a year for our bathtub drain. And yes we TRY to keep the hair from going down the drain. Sometimes kitchen sink, bathroom sink or main drain need to be cleared. They are always right on it. Quick professional and friendly. They do match jobs for previous clients. Adam has been here many times and is the best! It's nice to know the person coming into your house.

2018-They were great!
We were told our pipes were shifting/collapsing by others and could do nothing but replace pipe and connection back to street, even with "camera" inspection. $7k. Said our pipes were fine but connection to city was the problem. City disagreed.
No resolution.
We have been renting machine from hardware store periodically for years to keep drain flowing and everything had been fine.
Recently neighbours across street had work done. Our basement backed up suddenly. We were unable to root through. We hired American to come fix the pipes once and for all. They found it was just a big root and drilled through it. We have been drilling a quarter size hole through the root, while they were the only competent company to drill through the actual size of my pipe.

The city should be redoing our street soon I hope, and they will fix any root issues. Donald saved a single parent of 2 teens with one bathroom thousands of dollars. Thank you so much. These guys do what it takes.

Eric Burfeind rated it 5/5: Our main line to our septic tank backed up on a Friday night and they were here on a Saturday morning 15 minutes after I called! Pumped the septic tank and unclogged the pipe. The boys were great and talked me through the whole issue but Robyn, the first point of contact on the phone, was the best of the bunch!

They also cleared a main drain at one of our rental properties. They are good at what they do and make sure the problem is taken care of. Plus they have cute Christmas decorations;)

Mike’s was able to come out same day and help with a pipe clog we had in the basement, causing the toilet to overflow. When the job was complete they explained to us the issue m, how they fixed it, and even provided advice for future suggestions. Highly recommend Thanks again!

Jessica Miller rated it 5/5: Rod was my second opinion after another bigger company came in and got stuck cleaning out my main sewer line. That company said they’d need to come back another day with a bigger machine and another man to operate at a cost of $1900+ and warned of the dire state of my sewer, talking problems costing tens of thousands of dollars to repair or even having to rebuild.
Rod came and had it clean (with a clean bill of health) in 2 hours for $350. Couldn’t be happier! The Sewer guy has a customer for life!

  • Kevin R rated it 5/5: Rod did a great job on my main line clean out. He was friendly and knowledgeable. And very respectful of my house- I have carpet where my clean out is, and he was very careful to tarp everything to keep the carpet clean. And his mainline service is about half the price of some of the larger companies. Highly recommend.
  • Dave Naugle rated it 5/5: Had a clogged basement drain that hadn't been used in decades. Rod was very friendly, knowledgeable and quite reasonably priced. I was so impressed with his workmanship and ethics that I've hired him to come back for a few other repairs. He was the best!

  • Thom Dieterich rated it 5/5: The best experience I’ve had with a plumbing service.

Rod said he’d arrive within a window of time. He did, complete with a courtesy call 20 minutes a head of time.

I explained the problem, he diagnosed the issue in minutes, and showed me exactly what the problem was. Within an hour he had tools in the house, problem fixed, and cleaned up.

He could have charged far more, but the price was incredibly reasonable. Bonus, we had a quick and interesting conversation about Minnesota history, that left this transplant far more knowledgeable than before he arrived.

I can’t possibly recommend The Sewer Dude enough to anyone experiencing plumbing issues.

  • Rachna Sullivan rated it 5/5: Geno was great! I called him this morning to ask him if he can help me unclog my kitchen sink. It is the Fourth of July weekend and most plumbers that I called yesterday informed me that they could not come until Monday or would charge me the weekend rate. Geno was here within two hours and quoted me $129. He unclogged my drain quickly and stuck to his price. Before he arrived he told me that he only accepts cash or check. I gave him a check and he gave me a receipt. Very Efficient, polite, neat and clean. I highly recommend him. Compared to so many other companies that I called who were quoting me almost $250 just to come and then to do additional work and to charge me for that, Geno charged $120 which was very reasonable. I am picky who I invite to do work in my home and I am always careful about the companies I hire. Do not hesitate to hire Geno!!
  • Kandace Deiley rated it 5/5: Geno is the best!!! We have used him quite a few timed. He always comes as quickly as possible. Hardly any waiting. I left my door unlocked today so he could vome in. I was working and needed it done. Plus… He took good care of my dog as always. Extremely trustworthy. Don't call anyone else. Really fair priced. He will not screw you!!!!!!
  • Joshua Anderson rated it 5/5: Our floor drain was backed up so I gave Geno a call. He cleaned it out that same day and put in a new cleanout plug. Fast service at a very fair price. Highly recommended.
  • Brian Carlson rated it 5/5: Geno is great! Very trustworthy and honest. I had another "big" shop in town look at our main line drain and almost immediately they wanted to replace our whole underground line, at a cost over $10k. Called Geno, he came over, inspected and cleared the line, fully guaranteed, for $200. I won't call anyone else in the future.

Antonio Reynero rated it 5/5: Did a great job pulling out roots from my main drain. Has top notch equipment. Will utilize his business again but hopefully not anytime soon.

  • Timothy James Nelson rated it 5/5: Mark was able to arrive the same day I called and was able to help me think through a challenging issue. It wasn't your normal main line sewer clean out. It was an outdoor underground gutter system. It's nice to find contractors that still think through an issue.
  • Bill Belknap rated it 5/5: After a “big brand” outfit charged way too much and didn’t even fix the problem, I called TC Drain. Mark coordinated a convenient time to come to the house, called ahead and showed up on time, was very clear with his explanation of the problem and, best of all, was able to fix it! Fair pricing to boot!

  • gary novitsky rated it 5/5: Mark- is the BEST!!, We had a sudden and serious blockage. We thought the worst- maybe a mainline. Mark saved us $$$$. Of all things!!! he augered out a rodent- that fell down the vent pipe. You're going to want to put Mark in your phone directory. He's Jim Dandy to the Rescue!!! DONT CALL big-name plumbers, especially the ones who advertise on TV $$ or pop up first on Google $$. Mark does a good honest job and gets a lot of referrals and repeat customers as a result. Excllent knowledge, prompt service, honesty and a fair price it's refreshing to know a service provider like Mark.
  • Johnny Robertson rated it 5/5: Thank you, nothing like good service people. Even though we called about a water softener, which they don't work on. Time was taken on A Saturday – over the phone- to tell us how to shutoff water to the softener. Even allowed us to text pictures ensuring we used the correct bypass valve. God Bless you!!!
