They were very punctual and where here when they were scheduled. They took extreme care to protect items in my house and always cleaned up at the end of each day. After doing a Google search I came across this company and read several of the reviews and was pleased at what customer wrote about them so, we decide to go with Smoke Alert and I am glad we did.
I was able to set up an appointment without any problems and when it came closer to the date, I would get a phone call reminding of the appointment. Everyone that I spoke was very cordial. The service tech arrived on time and immediately went to work, he was very careful laying tools on mats and cleaning up afterwards. He explained in detail what he did and provided me with tips on how to safely maintain our fireplace.

In addition to their service, they include photo copies of what they repaired with a copy of your receipt. I will highly recommend Smoke Alert.

Bryan Koprowski rated it 1/5: This by far is the worst experience I ever had with any home company. I went with Air Duct Quad due to the 4.9 stars out of 172 customer reviews. When the technician arrived late (from another company, Duct Man), I was told that the promotion I received for $175 would not cover the cost due to the number of intake ducts that I had. This was surprising because I do not live in a large home. The sales representative, Issac told me on the phone that the price would cover my home based on the size. In contrast, the technician told me that based on the number of main/return ducts it would cost over $700 but he could do it for less by speaking with his supervisor. We negotiated a price and he started the cleaning. This should have alerted me that this was not a legitimate company. He brought in a fogging device that he said would knock off any debris/dust to clean my ducts and put it into my system for 25 min. After completing the process, I asked for an itemized list of the number of ducts and a cost breakdown but was told that could not happen. The tech proceeded to say, “so you are not going to pay me with the money I need for my wife and children”. I paid it and went online to research what he did and found out that all he performed was an air duct sanitization, not the cleaning that I paid for. My air ducts now smell moldy and the so-called cleaning made the air quality in my home worse. I have been trying to call the company to get my money back but have able to reach anyone. I suspect that my number has been flagged in some way and is preventing me from getting through. Read a BBB review with a similar incident. This company is a scam and the reviews are from two years ago. The company must have been bought by a foreign entity that is currently scamming unsuspecting individuals. The company address is at a Food lion located in Raleigh but when you call the Food lion the company does not exist at that location. Please do not make the mistake that I did and not research what is entailed with getting your air ducts cleaned. I will provide an update if I am ever able to contact this company.

Their technician, Ivory, was running a few minutes behind the scheduled time but he made sure to call me right before the initial scheduled time to inform me he was running late. He showed up and got to work as soon as I showed him the vents in question, he didn't need much more input on how to get access and where to get power, he seemed to be a great -self-starter- and got to work very promptly. Apparently my air vents and ducts were fairly clean but I was very glad they were able to clean out and check my dryer vents while we were here. It was only then since we bought the house three (3) years ago that the previous owners had the dryer vents improperly installed! Either way, the bill was well worth the peace of mind to have the most clean air possible for our 7 month old son.

They laid down cloths for their equipments to protect the floors, put booties on their shoes and had masks on. They did a very good job on both our air ducts and sweeping the chimney. And believe me, our chimney and air ducts were very dirty!!! There was one air vent the was missed. My house is a mess right now so I’m not surprised they missed a vent. But when I called the Mad Hatter, no questions asked except for my address, they are coming back to address the issue. And was also told that if I find anything else to let the technicians know. Now that is service!! Love the company and the technicians. Great job!

Tim Parry rated it 3/5: I hired The Mad Hatter for a chimney inspection and paid $89 for 15 minutes of "work" which basically included shining a flashlight up the chimney, looking around, and opening/closing the damper handle. No inspection of the exterior.
The technician was friendly and professional, so no problem with that.

They saw some things that could indicate a problem so they used their camera to get a better look. Luckily, everything turned out to be fine (it was previous damage that had already been repaired). While they were looking with the camera, they invited me to watch and explained everything they were seeing. They were clearly hoping that they could give me good news, but they weren’t willing to cut corners just to make me happy.
There was a computer snafu that messed up my original appointment, but they called and everything was straightened out.
I would highly recommend Chimney Wizard.

He showed up on time (actually a little early) and did excellent work. He was very careful to make sure no dust got into the house as he cleaned the fireplace/chimney. He offered us suggestions on how to maintain a safe chimney and fireplace.

Later added a sealant to prevent further water entry/plant growth.

Our damper he installed just recently wouldn't close (1.5 years later), and a part had melted and Grey fixed it, no charge!
