  • Bill Rosario rated it 1/5: In July of 2019 I had a new sump pump system installed in my home by Copper Ridge Services for $2,100. Since then Copper Ridge was purchased by Mr. Quick so when my sump pump system failed in April of 2022 I called Mr. Quick and they sent a plumber that same day. Great!
    I said to myself. He diagnosed the problem as a faulty primary pump and controller. The solution proposed was a total replacement. Still, no cause for alarm. The surprising part came when he told me the price. $5,761, which was $3,661 or 174% more than I had paid less than 3 years ago for the very same system.

    Was it supply chain issues? Inflation? I wasn't sure, but I was decided to find out. So, I politely declined the quote and paid the whopping charge of $373.95 for about 1hr and 20 minutes for the service call. Suspecting price gouging I went to a local plumbing supply store which offered me the same equipment (same brand, same model, same everything) for only $926.56 ($991.40 after tax)and I figured I could get a local plumber to install it thinking it would require a little luck and massive plumbing super-prowess. When I unboxed the system I was shocked to see that the sump pump unit consisting of a primary and backup pumps with a controller system comes already pre-assembled so installation consisted of only attaching the 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe to the check valve in my basement and just connecting the wiring as laid out in the instructions. So I did it myself in about 1 hr and another $30 in pipe primer / glue and supplies. I am scratching my head wondering how Mr. Quick would justify charging $4,739.60 to drive a couple of miles, collect the part from the supply store and spend 1 hr replacing a sump pump system.

    I totally get that Mr. Quick is a business for profit and has to make a buck, so I was not expecting them to do something for free or even next to nothing. As customer I expect them to make a reasonable profit. This markup is very far from being reasonable. In fact, it is flat out abusive. This experience sure taught me a lot.

    UPDATE: Mr. Quick told me the warranty was for 1 yr (I had purchased the original one from Copper Trace in July 2019) The supply company that sold me the replacement pump system was glad to take the old one back under the 3 yr mfg warranty and credit my purchase back to my card. So I basically fixed this issue for about $30 in supplies and 1 hr of my time. Grrrrr.

  • Chris Greene rated it 1/5: So had and HVAC unit installed paid for everything out of pocket. When all said and done, the guys finished up and left. Went back to look at the unit and sweep up. Noticed old filter was propped against the wall, went to throw it away and there was a huge hole in the wall where they didn’t seal the intake. After seeing that started to notice more how the flashing didn’t reach top of the ceiling. Mister quick after saying they would refund some of my money for the install sent a guy to fix those issues, and the new installer pointed out more problems. The manager I was talking to then stopped answering my calls, or getting back to me when he said he would personally come out and take a look at the unit and get me some of my money back. Never happened. Have to say not sure if I will ever go back to them, and I would suggest others to look elsewhere as well.
  • Karl Taylor rated it 1/5: They ROBBED ME!!! Mr. Quik are crooks. Cost $3,555.95 just to install two 100amp main breakers and install 4 copper grounding rods. THEY DID NOT FIX MY PROBLEM!!!! Outside power line was broke and was sending in 240volts in the house!!! Mr. Quik Damaged the wall in installation. Left ground wires above ground. Did a sloppy job like an amateur. Wanted $10,000 to rewire the whole place with new breaker boxes. Duke energy fixed my problem for FREE!!!!!
    NOT worth any where near $3000!!!

Lowe's records showed they ordered my part. But in fact they did not order my part. Today we had tech George. He was excellent. He solved our service issue by tracking down our part, purchasing it, bringing it back to my refrigerator and installing it. The first tech came March 1. He could have done this but we had to wait until March 31. Lowes must find a different provider for appliance service contracts in the Westfield, Indiana area. A&E is terrible. Tech George is excellent!

The warranty, of course has just expired. Nonetheless, I reached out to Sears to come and do the repair. I had to wait almost 3 weeks for an emergency visit. Fortunately, I have a second fridge in my home, but the main fridge is out and was expecting to have it up and running after waiting 3 weeks. The technician came, worked in the fridge for 3 hours, and left indicating that it should be cooling shortly, but to call back in 24 hours if not working properly. It had not started cooling at all, so I called to reschedule and was told I would have to wait yet another 5 days before someone can come back out. I'm just thoroughly frustrated with this process. I feel that Sears has been misleading with its products….I bought what I thought was a Kenmore product, but its actually and LG refrigerator which apparently has several repair issues. To add insult to injury, the technician also damaged my floor with freon burn to my laminated wood flooring, and didnt bother to mention the damage before leaving. I have reached out to have the fridge worked on again, and I did file a claim with them about my flooring, but this has not been a nice experience.

The lady gave me 2 options 1) pay $129 for a diagnosis, which is waived if I do the repair 2) pay $49 a month for 12 months, which gives me a warranty on all appliances for that year. I chose option 1 but she would not let me have that option. She kept insisting that I choose option 2. Had to eventually hang up on her. Sorry but no I don’t want to pay $600 for a dryer repair
  • Loïc André rated it 1/5: After 5 months, 6 visits, and one canceled visit, two technicians showed up today. Ran diagnostics and said it should work now. I am pleased with their service but extremely displeased by how long it took (5 months) and how many visits it took (6), and how many technicians (7), and how many parts were replaced (3) to be told it was a simple reset. And if it didn’t fix the issue to call again… I would NOT recommend A&E and would NOT recommend paying for Lowes’s extended warranty. The general customer service was simply terrible through and through.

Service tech “Jason” looked at my dryer to diagnose the problem & scheduled another appointment to replace the belt which took another week to order. On the day of the appointment no one showed up, so I called the office. The nice person who answered the phone was clueless…no in fact I had no appointment! So another week. The belt was replaced to the tune of +$200. The next day, I ran the dryer…it filled the house with a burning smell, I think we were lucky the dryer did not burn the house down! Turns out, after having a different company look at the dryer, that the problem was not the belt at all, in fact the new belt was in shreds when removed. To add insult to injury, it was installed backwards!!! I’ve not left a review for a company before but I must warn you…do not use this company! Another +$200 to fix my dryer!

    My response is that I have already been waiting nearly two weeks without laundry. I am unable to wait any longer for a working laundry machine. I have decided to purchase a new machine and just forfeit the amount paid to this company. The initial repair was poorly done. After installing a drain pump, the machine will now not soak, rinse, or spin. It only fills and drains.

    This company needs to get it right the first time! I can get a new machine quicker than the time it would take them to come out and reassess the situation. That is what I have chosen to do.

  • Alex Tanner rated it 1/5: The tech, Dakota, came to diagnose our dishwasher's problem and ordered a new soap dispenser. He also explained that if this did not resolve the issue that the company would come back to re-diagnose and correct it free of charge.

    The soap dispenser did not solve the problem. When I called to schedule a new tech to re-diagnose, I learned that the tech's notes stated that he did not think the soap dispenser was the issue but I had asked for it. This is not true. He suggested it and I agreed because he was the alleged expert.

    I asked for a supervisor to contact me. Instead, someone called to schedule a new appointment. While that may help solve the problem, I still don't know if I am going to be refunded some or all of the $350 I was charged for work that the tech was dishonest about. After more that a week I have still not heard from a supervisor.

  • Stacie O rated it 1/5: The 2-person team that arrived did not actually inspect the issue (did not move the machine or take any panels off) and then told me that a major repair (>$500) was necessary on a machine that was less than 2 years old. This repair was for one particular part, but we were going to have to also replace another part for $45+ because they "can't get to the 'broken' part without breaking a 2nd part as well." We were given the estimate and charged for the service call.

    We decided to get a 2nd opinion during which the single technician moved the appliance, opened up the machine, and extracted a sock, which ended up being the entire cause of the problem. The unit was fixed for $50 less than the service call charged by MidAmerica. An email sent to the company about the poor service has gone unanswered.

He called at 1:00 said he would be here in 10. He came in and evaluated my new washer. Moved it around like it was the dryer..andit's really heavy! We discussed the probable problems. He was excellent in listening and most possibly spot on w/my issues that are correctable and not repairable. (Bottom drawer and too much soap.) I'm very pleased! I've used Groves Appliance Repair before and are an excellent appliance repair company!

The technician that came out (Cooper) was very friendly and professional – called ahead and was able to actually come earlier than the window I was quoted. He diagnosed the issue within about ten minutes after listening to what I had been experiencing with the washer and inspecting the washer himself. He had originally let me know that he didn't have the part on the truck, but called it in for us letting us know it may be several days. However, he called me later that afternoon letting me know he had acquired the part and was wondering if we would have availability for him to come back out later in the afternoon same day to complete the repair. He was able to return in about 20 minutes after that call and completed the repair another 20 minutes later. Had such a great experience with the technician and Groves Appliance Repair, so wanted to write this review! Thank you!

  • Lana Hayes rated it 3/5: I did my service through Whirlpool and got Groves Appliance Repair again to do work on my dishwasher. Come to find out it was the same issue I had before but this time the bill in 2018 was 160.00 to 383.00 in 2023. I felt taken advantage of in a sense because this was not at all what I expected for a simple repair. The service guy was nice and was helpful and cleaned out the pump thinking that was the problem but it was the drain pump. He also fixed my dishwasher and he gave me great advice on what tool to use to fix it in the future because it was stuck. I went over the old invoice I got in 2018 from Groves for the same repair. Now, I know inflation is hitting everywhere but this is extremely high for a simple repair. I did decline that cost and just ordered the part from Amazon and looks like I can put the new drain pump on myself. So not sure why the cost was so high. I will probably let Whirlpool know for future to use a another appliance company, if I have to deal with this.

He took his time to explain the few things that were wrong and how to replace and source them. I saved some money by doing the work myself, but his advice gave me the confidence to take on the work.   • Cynthia rated it 1/5: Do not recommend: Guy showed up in a personal vehicle with hardly any tools, tape measure hanging from ball shorts and a screw driver, pushed button on washer, called his boss then said it was the control panel & would cost me $500 to repair, Charged me $80 for service fee then left. He Was only here for about 10 minutes.
    Just save your money, take your appliances apart yourself & try to repair, call a different company, or purchase new item.
  • Dawn Day rated it 1/5: VERY UNHAPPY. Terry diagnosed the problem over the phone. He said it needed a bottom control panel. Terry brought the control panel that day and put it in. It took him about 15 min to replace. Charged us $600 He said if we have any problems to call him. Two weeks later it started doing the same thing with the same codes coming on. Terry said he would return $400 and take his part back and we would pay $195 service call, which was advertised for $9.95 still haven't heard anything from him. That was over a week. VERY DISAPPOINTED

He explained what the issue was and not only that he checked other parts of the dryer that has wear on them, example, the belt, even though it's not actually broken right now, it doesn't have much life left. My dryer is at least 15 years old & I love my dryer & want to keep it for years to come so I definitely want the belt replaced now. He also showed me other parts that are just fine & doesn't need to be replaced now. He gave me a discount for the additional parts I chose to replace that was optional for me right now. The price… Amazing. Would have cost me at least twice as much elsewhere. I know it would have. Thanks for everything, I will recommend to everyone I know.

I did some troubleshooting on YouTube and all signs pointed to the switch that actuates the washer when you close the lid. If I had tried to fix it I would've either gotten electrocuted, or would have to buy a new washer. As I was searching for someone to repair it, I came across Indy Appliance Repair. After reading several very complimentary reviews about a repair guy named Charlie, I decided to give them a try and was not disappointed. Charlie came to the same conclusion I had, and after going for the part, he had us up and running again, and at a more than reasonable price. You all know how we're getting scammed left and right, so if you want some great customer service and save some money, Charlie is your guy. He saved me about $600. I recommend him without reservation.
