When I called him back he was very professional and assured me that he could start working on the outside of the house if I didn’t make it to my home before he did. He was professional, friendly and very thorough with the treatment to the exterior & interior of our home. Bonus points too for putting his shoe covers/booties on before stepping into my home without me having to ask him to do so. In the past, previous techs have told me they don’t have any or they’ve run out. Jose N. has been one of two of the friendliest and most professional techs who have been to my home thus far. What stood out to me (personally) about him was his phone call to me prior to his arrival and his being on time for my appointment. In my opinion, phone calls and communication go a long way with customers, they add a personal touch instead of texts or emails, although I do understand their convenience. Jose N made sure I had no questions left unanswered! In the year we have been with Moxie Pest Control, today’s visit has been by far the best service call experience we’ve had!

Called them up as I have my service with them and Joshua Emrie came out and assessed the situation and had to get some more supplies to handle it. The entire process was explained well, communication was great and Joshua taught me some things about the hornets too! The cold really helped and the pictures can show it wasn't a baby nest! I'm glad I still have Moxie as my pest company and even happier that Joshua was the one who responded today!

They told me to wait about a week or two, but the issue has gotten worse. I have had to throw away all of my food in cabinets and on top of the fridge because of the ants. I was told by the technician that I had to live with the issue and there was very little they could do to stop it. I would NOT recommend them.

The customer rep stated that sorry if you didn't read you email, but we changed your billing and your responsible for it. I told them I am not paying for a service not provided. He said well late charges will be continued to be added to my account and will continue to accrue.

Must be nice to be able to steal from your customers with no repercussions.

    Where the ball is dropped is at some of their local offices. Here in San Antonio specifically. I called in to cancel in October because I thought the year was up. The gentleman on the phone assured me it would cancel on its own. I asked him to confirm I would no longer be billed. He did confirm this on the phone, that no extra call was needed it would cancel out since the year was over.

    Fast forward to this morning and I got another monthly bill from them. I called the local office to ask why I was still being billed. The lady at this time informed me that I was being charged because the account was active. I explained the situation to her and the response I got was “unfortunately the agent never took notes of a call so we can not refund anything.”

    I explained that should not be my issue since I do have a call log showing I called them on 10/15/2022 to cancel. She told me there was nothing more she could do. I did have her actually send me an email the account is now cancelled.

    Called the corporate office as well to try and get resolution on the situation before I posted here. They told me they had to call that local office. When the line was picked back up, I got the same response as the lady I spoke with at the local office.

    I don’t think I’ve ever posted a review(bad or good) but when a company will not stand behind what employees tell their clients over the phone “because there are no call notes”, that does not fall on the client but rather your employees. Whether intentionally deceitful or not, this is a terrible business practice.

    My warning: you will be charged by this company past the yearly “contract”unless you write in to cancel or actually speak to someone in a cancellation department(can’t be just any employee, and even all their employees do not know this).

    $53 was not the point of my calls or this post. It is that I tried to contact them on the month the year was up and told one thing, only to be billed again and the company stand behind one of their employees action at my expense. And then standing behind this action to steal from me.

    Do not go with this company. There are honest pest control companies and then there are companies like this. That will nickel and dime you to death if you let them. Go elsewhere for your pest control needs.

  • Laura Geer rated it 1/5: If you are thinking about going to Hawx for Pest Control….. I urge you to rethink! Biggest scam, EVER!!!
    We opted out of the “billing cycle” we chose to just straight up pay the one time balance after each treatment which is actually a higher cost than the “billing cycles” (they bill you $54.11 per month!). Well we kept receiving monthly bills even though we were at a zero balance. This turned into a 3 month war. Each time we called they said they went back into previous notes and said the last time we spoke it was documented that we stated we were very happy with our services. I kept saying, no, we called to CANCEL our account and services! They were straight up lying and documenting the complete opposite of what we were saying and asking for.

    Well fast forward…. We ended up paying $200 to close account with no services!! I’ve never ever seen or dealt with a company like Hawx! I highly encourage all to look somewhere else to save money and a major headache!

    To Hawx: Do Better!!!!

The personnel are polite and courteous, but I question the value of the services. Each scheduled personnel arrived on the day they were scheduled to service my home except for one no-call no-show. I do not see termites, so I have to trust the termite treatment and prevention work as intended.

    However, I still see ants (sugar, carpenter, and red), cockroaches, and centipedes roaming my home. I have found ants all over my house including but not limited to the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, downstairs bathroom, upstairs bathroom, primary bathroom, primary bedroom, and office.

    I have found ants in my cats' water dishes, my bathroom sink, my bathtub, my shower, my carpets, and my sheets. I have been clear with Terminix on the state of the home.

    Unfortunately, I thought Terminix was a trustworthy company, so I signed up for their termite and pest bundle. This means I get to pay $141/month for Terminix to service my home once every quarter with two free or complimentary services in between scheduled services. That's around one service a month.

    I want to share three points of wisdom from my experience.

    1) The early termination fee to terminate a Terminix bundle early equals the remaining payments on the account. For this reason, Terminix lacks incentive to provide professional services to customers who sign up for a bundle.

    2) The notes on your Terminix account have little to no meaning. Be prepared to explain yourself in full detail each time Terminix personnel arrive to service your home.

    3) Do your research. A local pest control service provider might have a better understanding of local pest problems in your area.

    The only course of action Terminix can offer me without charging me the termination fee is asking the manager of my zone to call me in the next day or two. I hope that call will resolve the pest problems I have experienced for the last three months with multiple service appointments from Terminix.

    In the meantime, I will leave this post here as a word of caution.

We called to get scheduled for someone to come out before thanksgiving to spray for some signs of roaches that were here when we moved into our house. We paid the asking $98.00 and were scheduled for Monday the 21st. A few days passed, and we were contacted by Ignacio, the tech scheduled to come out and spray. He told us that we were given the wrong price for roaches and was not coming out without paying another $150.00. I asked for his manager's name and number and he said it didn't matter who I spoke with, he was not coming out unless we paid that amount. Once I was able to contact a manager and explain what was said, we were told that he would be coming out between 10-12. This morning Ignacio showed up at 9 am and said it didn't matter what time we were told, he was here at 9 to get the job done and proceeded to talk to my wife with nothing but disrespect until I came out and said that it sounded like he didn't want to do the job. He went on to say that we didn't have the cabinets emptied and were not ready, and we explained again that he was here before the scheduled time, and he said he didn't care. He then said we would have to leave for 4-5 hours and take all the animals with us, which we were told there wasn't an infestation so that wouldn't be necessary. I said we would leave, but could we leave my son's lizard in his room covered up and untouched, and his response was that he hopes he doesn't die.
    First of all, I don't understand how this individual is allowed to represent a company so big that he thinks he can talk to people the way he does? He was asked not to come back and now I'm out almost $100.00 because nothing will be done about this.
    Sad!

  • D Perez rated it 1/5: Run away from this pest control company! terrible customer service and follow through. they provided our in-home pest control for one year kept pushing us to buy an upgrade for $3000 to treat our foundation. after rejecting their offer we haven't seen or heard from them in almost 5 months our house is now dealing with major spiders and ants throughout. we should have listened to the advice of our neighbors who went with other companies because of their dissatisfaction with HomeTeam.
    if you're looking for a good pest control company make sure you find one that is five star rated! save yourself time and your hard earned money…

    We were kind of forced into going with homeTeam sense they had a contract with our builder who provided all of our inner wall pest control lines. How I wish we had other options. Go elsewhere or do it yourself my purchasing some do it yourself pest control from Home Depot or Lowe’s.

To the point of which the techs were telling me that they were/were not using different products and services on my home when they came out. I called to cancel service because I was told that certain services were not done and was told I would receive a call back from a higher up. I never received a call to address my concerns. I gave them months to call me and finally called and spoke with someone who stated that they cannot speak to what their techs tell me because she was not there to hear exactly what was stated. When I addressed concerns about why that places me in a losing situation she had the nerve to say that the conversation was devolving into immaturity. She continuously cut me off during the conversation and continued to talk in circles about how she could/would not help me.

    At the end of the day, I feel they charged me with services they did not render. No matter what their techs put on their invoice. If the techs and support team can tell me one thing and then do something completely different and get away with it, I will never trust any documentation or service this company states that they offer.

    I will never use this company again and will be the first to happily tell as many people as I can to do the same.

  • RenewAgain rated it 1/5: I started using HomeTeam pest defense in the summer of 2020. I signed up for a quarterly service contract until the summer of 2022.

    I spoke with a HomeTeam member in June of 2022 (a couple weeks before my next scheduled treatment) to ask if I could freeze my membership and re-activate it in September. I was very clearly and unambiguously told that I could, and I was also told (when I asked) that there would be no additional fees or changes to the pricing structure of my contract. I was also told I would be contacted by HomeTeam in September to verify I was ready to re-activate my account/treatments.

    Fast forward to October and I realize I was never contacted by HomeTeam last month. So, I call them today and tell them I am ready to un-freeze my account and start treatments again…. Well, it turns out that HomeTeam blatantly lied to me.

    Not only did they not contact me, but they actually cancelled my account instead of freezing it and said I would need to go through the hassle of making a new account. In addition to this, I couldn't do this with the customer support person over the phone, but would need to speak to their sales rep, "James", and that I would have to wait for James to contact me directly. I let the support rep know in advance that if the price of any services increased in any way that I would not be continuing to do business with HomeTeam, and she acknowledged this condition.

    I reluctantly followed through and of course James called me at a time I was not available to talk. He left a voicemail. During this voicemail, James acknowledged my condition of I will not pay any extra money because of HomeTeam's refusal to honor our agreement and he claimed he could instead "save" me money (this turned out to only be a half-truth). Instead of being patient for me to call him back, he called me again within 2 hours.

    I picked up the second time James called, and during an extremely long-winded sales pitch, he mentioned that while the quarterly payments would be a little less than previously, I would need to pay $180 upfront to start my account again (this is about the cost of 2 treatments, and a cost I had already paid when I first signed up for service in June of 2020).

    This of course was completely unacceptable and just downright disrespectful after my prior communication with HomeTeam. I flatly declined the "offer" and that was it.

    … HomeTeam's lack of professionalism and integrity has permanently lost them a customer, this justified 1-star review, other 1-star reviews I'll be leaving at other review sites, and my negative communication with a couple of their other customers whom I know personally.

    To the sales rep James (who I suspect is the same "James" who reads and responds to these reviews), please do not bother responding to this review falsely claiming HomeTeam values their customers and strives to give the very best customer service (not true), and do not ask me to contact HomeTeam to resolve the issue, it is hereby resolved (with a very negative outcome for HomeTeam). Finally, don't state you "cannot find my account" as you have done in other reviews. Of course you can't, this is my Google account and it has nothing to do with any account I *used* to have with HomeTeam, you aren't meant to be able to able to "find my account" through this review. Thank you.

    … HomeTeam, you had your chance(s) to do right by me and you failed, end of story. One of your competitors will be getting my business instead.

Spent time on the phone explaining my specific issues (attic roaches, tons of crevices in house needing spraying, active wasp nests really high). I was told all of this would be addressed. I was told someone comes over & sprays in and out every 3 months and it was a 1 year contract commitment for $145 every visit. I was told they would come out extra for free if there was an issue. I was skeptical about signing a commitment because I haven’t had good luck with pest control before (quality of service). Salesman reassures me they always deliver on promises, they will get everything on the house even if it’s high up, and they can spray all the hard to reach areas.
Pest guy comes and starts spraying. I show him toward attic and he says “we don’t do the attic, just baseboards & lawn” I told him about my conversation with the sales person & his response is “well you can call them (company he works for) if you want but they will charge extra”
He sprays the baseboards inside and goes and does the lawn and presents me with a receipt and service agreement. The agreement said the allotted time for the visited was 1.5 hours. Including all talking & everything, guy had only been here 18 minutes. I paid the $156 ($145 + tax) and refused to sign the 1 year commitment and told them I wasn’t going to use them again.
Backyard still had active wasp nests they weren’t treated as promised, the guy didn’t go around knocking down exterior comb webs as promised, attic and crevices weren’t sprayed as promised.
Following day I have a few dead roaches in the backyard which made me feel better about spending so much… but 3 days later I have to kill 2 roaches in the house. And This morning (it’s been like a week now) Cats woke me up at 5am to kill another roach.

I really don’t get it – show up to appointments and do what you say you will do, I feel like that’s the bare minimum and I can’t even get that when I pay a lot.

    Today, 6/15/22, when I shared my dissatisfaction; I was told the warranty of the service was 30 days. They ask me to check with the estimator to sell another application.

    Second Note: When I called first time, it was stated I need to get new service with new cost by your staff member.

    I scheduled new service with another company and Happy with them.

    I did not hangup on the phone. I said I do not need a service, after I placed comment and review here.
