I didn’t really know what I needed done, it was a relative’s apartment which our family had lived in for a lifetime, really. I searched locally and ran across them, and I liked that they handled estate cleanups, as well as trying to be sustainable business, recycling what they can.

They came in and even though the place was a dump (we tossed things around to find stuff) and there were a number of large items, especially one large, extremely heavy unusual item, they were able to clean up the place. Also, when the job turned out to need another day, they came the next day and took care of everything for us.

They were the experts, I had expectations of how to do it and they found a much more efficient and easier way of doing it.

I will use them again when I need to do this again and recommend them wholeheartedly. The manager made sure that I was okay with everything, and the staff was friendly and hard working. We ended up doubling the tip we were going to give.

Then the quote went to a lot more. When the guys arrived they sent pictures to the boss and the quote went up another $100. The final price was probably reasonable for the amount of stuff I had. However, the online calculator versus the final price felt a bit like bait and switch.

Price was fine. A guy was assigned, got text confirmations that day he was coming. He does not show up, I called customer service TWICE asking what’s going on, they said he just didn’t show up and no other “warriors” had accepted my “job”. I got lucky with another company. NEVER using this site again, and I have half a mind to ask my boss to send them a consumer protection demand.

I have called every number, emailed, texted, and they all say they’ll take care of it and then no one come.

Back to SF Recology! Go green! They have plants at the beginning and ending of the facility. I grabbed a small start of Aloe Vera to plant in my garden!

The customer service is always good! I've been here at least 5 times and never waited in a long line. The men are always helpful. You get in and out!

My favorite thing about this place is the creativity! I love to see the art! They have windmills on top of the hill. I posted a picture below. Can't wait to see what's next!

You can also dump anything you want for reasonable prices and the experience is really great and quick. Covered dump area that is really clean and well run.

For some reason, 5 weeks ago they stopped collecting my trash and have not collected it in 5 weeks. Their customer service team is nice, yet each time they say someone will come pick it up…no one comes. Even more strange, they pick up our compost and recycling, which is right next to it. Please just collect my trash.

We cleaned out our garage and the non recyclables were too much for the trash bin so I made a run. With their pricing ($138 per tonne) most residential customers will pay the minimum fee, because I think very few non professionals would dump more than ~520 pounds of garbage. Be prepared for a line, but they are well organized and the line goes quickly, so you'll be done in less than an hour for sure.

Becca Spiegel rated it 5/5: Rob was fantastic! I left a message inquiring about his services and he called me back within 5 minutes and gave me an indication of price range. He was at my house within the hour. He and my husband loaded everything in the truck and helped us cut up some pieces of wood that needed cutting (he brought tools with him in case this happened!) He was incredibly friendly and helpful, the price was fantastic. I’ll happily use Rob anytime!!

He was very friendly and came equipped with all the tools he needed to break down some of the bigger things and load them into his truck so that they didn’t take up as much space. His pricing was very fair and he did excellent work. We will definitely be calling him again when we finish our other projects around the house.
Glenn Block rated it 5/5: Rob was fantastic. I called him just a little over an hour ago needing to get our sofa removed. He was very responsive and shocked me by being willing to come by right away. His prices were also extremely reasonable. Rob showed up, was very friendly and professional, and the sofa is gone. I was also happy to know that her was planning to donate it as it is in good condition. Other services I looked at were significantly more expensive and were looking to resell the couch. Thank you Rob!

April V rated it 4/5: I feel these guys do a good job. My landlord makes me pay for it though which is sad. It is really expensive for a tiny can that you have to buy yourself and barely anything fits in it. The workers are great though do a great job and they are super responsive if you call them.

Graham Bennett rated it 1/5: On 10th Ave. in San Francisco we pay for a Recology to go into the garage – they have the garage code – problem is they keep switching drivers and supervisors so nobody thinks to go into the garage to collect the trash and recycling.
This happens at least once every couple of months. I get calls from my tenant saying the garbage is piling up and is unsanitary and that the recycling is overflowing.

At present I am waiting for a call from Ron Sherman the district manager because I have not been able to get any satisfaction from any of the other supervisors that keep rotating.

So far no call from District manager Ron Sherman. I guess the next step is Mario Puccinelli chief operating officer. My wife is an attorney so I suppose push come to shove after months that have stretched into years of this poor service… A lawsuit will be have to be the final remedy.

Basically nobody knows what’s going on on that block and I assume on other blocks as well.
D DAVID rated it 1/5: This company's garbage collector damaged my property not following pick up instructions IN PLACES FOR DECADES…. I filed a claim and the supervisor was ignorant of what to do for 2 months and did not provide the inconvenience fee he promised, and finally I had to call their insurance company and they paid for the damages. Then they harassed and retaliated against me and changed my bill increased my bill $40 a month ?? All the people I talked too were rude and of course denied retaliation ,but my bill has been the same with the normal increases for decades. Recology just finished investigations by the California Attorney Generals office and the city Of SF and were held accountable!!! AND THEIR STILL DOING IT!!

it's unfair and costly. Enforce a petition in your district, with (2)options
either remove charges when no garbage goes out, or San Franciscans find another garbage company.

M P H rated it 5/5: GPS: Pier 96 – Buyback for aluminum and plastic close at 3:30 sharp – FYI cans are $1.80 per lbs not $2.80 — I discovered this place a while back, love this place. Always feel safe when I'm driving pass by their driver with the bulldozer. Do yourself a favor and sort items out when you're collecting, cause if you did, it's a quick in and out. Bagged plastic bottle go on the weight, cans go to this machine. For those who want to sort items out on site, they provide bins for you to do so.
P S rated it 5/5: This location is great. The staff is great. Always polite and friendly. It is all drive up. You don't have to deal with waiting behind walk-ups. Most of the time folks have their things already separated, which makes things go a lot faster. However, they are taking cardboard only right now. No cans or bottles for now, due to Covid-19. Hopefully they will do cans and bottles again soon.

Beth Perry rated it 5/5: Moved to SFO this week. Had a million cardboard boxes to dispose of. Seemed like it would take forever to recycle them at the curb, so I researched other options. Called for info – the lady on the phone was super nice and helpful. She gave me detailed instructions on how to find the drop off location – definitely a little tricky to find. Got lucky and the truck in front of me was dropping off cardboard as well, so I just followed him after I got on property. It's a bit of a hike from Russian Hill but worth it to get rid of all the boxes. Would definitely do it again.
